The reason I began listening to local station WDEL, was because they dropped Rush Limbaugh from their afternoon programing. Instead of hate and stupidness, I got to hear of matters important to me. My county government. My city government. My state government. And of course, national politics always interjected.

I can’t get enough of it. I read the paper in the morning, and I can’t wait for the local talk shows to come on. The progressives own the morning. The conservatives own the afternoon, and I’m still trying to figure out who owns the evening…

It is kinda silly, I know, but because I listen and hear the advertisements, my kids sing their jingles in the car. Driving down Main Street in Newark, they’ll blurt out, “there’s Alex and Ani’s“. The older kids insist they want music on, but I’m the boss.

Some of the advertisers seem like old friends. One hears them over and over, and even can go back and note the different commercials back through time. Calvert Plumbing and Heating is one I hope to use next time fate strikes. The best one, besides the “Alex and Ani” with sitar music put in place by Rick Jensen, is the DelmarvaJobs.com featuring the harp player. I hope that gets nominated for CLIO, the advertiser’s equivalent of the Oscars….

And this should be in everyone’s Northern Delaware bookmarks. It is the tower cam. One rarely thinks of us being in eyesight of downtown Philadelphia, but we certainly are. One can tell the weather with one visual click.

Anyways, the point of this was not to brag on WDEL and extol how fortunate we were to have it at our disposal, but to point to the dark side, which is about that human being whose leaving is what drove me to begin listening to WDEL in the first place.

Rush Limbaugh is in trouble. For a while he was harmless harping at Democrats, and we all know, sometimes Democrats need harping at. But as his worth became higher, he had to push buttons to justify his high expense. His audience no longer consisted of regular Joe’s, but had to become fanatics who would listen and respond. And the biggest thing fanatics crave, is more fanaticism, and Rush obliged.

Now, he bashes the poor. Now he bashes every gay person. Now he bashes Liberals. And last March, he bashed a woman for simply being a woman.

That made people take notice. WHOA, this guy is an ass…… Seriously, when you demean 53% of the population (women), knowing that at least half the men are married and will dutifully side with their spouses (YOU’D BETTER!)….. ticking off 75% of the American population, can’t be good for business.

That is bearing fruit.

Arising from that, several organizations are targeting his advertisers. This is not a hate campaign. It is a calm, respectable, and very businesslike campaign. They are calling up advertisers and saying …”yesterday your ad played on this station at this time, and this is what went before and after it… Advertisers were appalled…. Most of them do not support Rush Limbaugh, but buy ads with a local radio station…. The radio station then puts their ads in holes where ever they need them… Radio stations that carry Rush Limbaugh are bound by contract to still do so, and are having a terrible time scheduling just those advertisers who … so far… have not expressly said…” Make sure we aren’t on Rush.”

2200 sponsors have pulled their ads so far. At first these were mentioned but Rush supporters attacked these businesses with threats of shooting them with NRA sanctioned assault weapons (they were idle threats, no events occurred) that now, the names are kept hidden. But anyone listening over time, can certainly, after hearing only one advertisement on his program get played over and over, realize his brand is in deep trouble.

The show is doing so badly that Freedom Works, the Karl Rove PAC that garnered $300 million dollars, is using their money just to keep Rush on the air…

So in what seems like an outrageous chain of events, the only reason Rush Limbaugh is still on air it appears, is because billionaires have too much money on their hands… In 2013, Freedom Works plans to spend between $25 and $30 million. Glenn Beck is also included in its largess.

Freedom of speech is a right. No one is arguing over whether Freedom Works benefactor Stepheson can say what he wants with his $100 million donations. But that right goes both ways. Advertisers have the right to know what their money appears to be saying about themselves when their ads show up on Rush Limbaugh.

It says, “I the advertiser, support the embarrassment of the poor. I support the deportation of Mexicans. I support the incarceration of the entire black comminity. I support the killing of Liberals with assault weapons, and I support the rape of women”… In fact, supporting Rush, say something like this: ” Hey, woman, come take your clothes off and dance for me….. After all, that’s all you’re good for!!!! Ha, ha, ha.”

You too must join in taking him down, for the simple reason that it allows many more Americans to enjoy the benefits of local radio programming as we have here in Delaware for 6 years….

The stuffing of the goose is done. Time to cook the goose, and at the feast, get back to being Americans again. Working together, and not against each other…..

Tomorrow, is the day… like a wedding, can’t wait for it to finally be over so life can go on again…. But there is one last thing to do.

Look at the Republican Party. The only reason Romney is doing well, is because he pivoted in the first debate, and became a liberal. His past track record had almost pushed him to the point of no return, until he reinvented himself upon that first debate stage. In other words, Romney is now the more liberal candidate, if one just looks at what he has said since October 4th.

However the old message is still prevalent in Delaware’s Republican exoskeleton. Kovach who once was considered a decent person, is now a compromised decent person. Kevin Wade, is nothing more than a word to rhyme with suede. Jeff Craig wants us to believe that if you can run a 16 X 40 foot retail outlet buried in the middle of a Fairfax strip mall, you can run the entire state’s government. Greg Lavelle believes that if you trash your opponent hard enough, you will get elected. Cathy Cloutier believes that no one gives enough of a hoot, making it so simple that she can be endorsed by the pro choice and pro life movements in the same election. Evan Quietsch believes the United Nations has set up a secret outpost somewhere in the woods of the 11th District, and that his challenger is the Manchurian Candidate who is actually from Manchuria. Rick Jensen has to ignore 99% of a story to make his case in support of any Republican who shows up on his show. Dori Conner, is running “Go, Go William Penn” down in Cavalier Country. NCCE Blake has to put stickers on his campaign signs, that say “I’m not Tom Gordan.” Then there is DelawarePolitics.Net, which although it has great people, they all get their orders from Homer Simpson. There is Brian Pettyjohn who, whenever his name gets mentioned, reminds one of the Lollypop Guild soliciting a hooker on the side of the Yellow Brick Road… And then, there was Two Timing Booth, kicked out for…. oh my. Don’t even get me started on Bodenweiser…. And above all this mess, flies the green faced witch on her magic broom, saying 2014, 2014…..

What happened? Siegler, is this what happens when you put the NRA actually in charge of something?

From top to bottom this party is (I’ll bend over backwards and be very nice here)…. dysfunctional… It is time for it to go away….

I heard a caller put it very well on Al Masciti this morning. Business needs representation. With this party they don’t have it. What they do have is Jack Markell, Chip Flowers, and Beau Biden, working with them as well as representing “we the people” who simultaneously do the necessary work for these businesses as well as us who depend on their health to live well ourselves…..

Delaware works better as a single party state than as a two party one…. Why? Simply put, everyone is an individual again. There is no reason NOT to work with someone who’s viewpoint is different from yours… It is called “compromise” and with today’s Republican Party from the top down, that compromise gene is simply not in their chromosomes……

Now here is my argument… Any vote for any Republican, weakens our state. I’m guessing we need an 85/15 democratic majority to permanently make this party go away…. I’m worried that many in Delaware may not vote this time because our national election is a foregone conclusion, and really, there is no reason to suspect or worry that any Republican will win….

Here is why you must… Your vote against the Republican Party, is needed to make it be gone forever….. We need single party government now more than ever… WE need cooperation between workers and businesses, and only one party, the Democratic one, can provide that.

Some say we need another voice to balance out one party rule… We will have them. 21 separate voices in the Senate, and 45 separate ones in the House, but only if they are all Democrat … Every person is an individual, and every person has to represent their district. There are some conservative districts, there are some progressive districts. but it still will take a majority to get anything passed.

At least if there is only one party, they will get things done the old fashioned way. The conservatives will express their needs, the progressives will express their needs, and some type of compromise all can live with, will get hammered out….

That can’t happen if there are Republicans anywhere in government to mess things up…..

So do your civic duty… Vote Democratic or Libertarian, or any another candidate…. Just make Republicans go away…. I used to like watching cartoons on Saturday… Now, that I have to watch them 365 days at 24/7, it is too much…. (Now, where’s that Advil?)

Make them go away.

They thought he was nuts.

I’m trying to put all your ideas together into one package. So, let me get this right… All you are asking is for, is a country where:

1) There is no universal healthcare.
2) Few entitlement programs.
3) Low Flat Tax System.
4) Faith based Government.
5) A deep reverence for God.
6) Extremely strict rules against abortion.
7) Marriage has already been strictly defined as between man and woman.
8) Homosexuality is a sin, and illegal.
9) Dress Codes are strictly enforced.
10) Tattoos, piercings, baggy pants, are banned.
11) Has the Death Penalty which they aren’t shy about using.
12) Strong private school system with religious focus.
13) Widespread dependency on oil and natural gas drilling.
14) Growing nuclear program
15) Nonexistent environmental nuisances
16) Culture that promotes family and stereotyped roles for men and women.

I’ve endeavored to put all your values on one page. I share your frustration because today, ever since 2008, it seems like America is moving further and further away from these values.

But you don’t have to be frustrated anymore. I have looked far and wide and have discovered a place already in existence that has those values in place, and more. If you sorely long for those values above, it is sincerely a place where you and your family would be very happy.

It is Iran.

You don’t have to pay me. I don’t need any commission. Just glad to help a fellow Delawarean out…. No problem.

They are shills.   They may be nice people too, to be honest I don’t know,  but they are shills….  It’s like voting for a candidate endorsed by Dick Cheney.   Ewwwwww.

You know there has to be an ulterior motive, somewhere.

Not so fast… The repeal failed… In a state that is OVERWHELMINGLY Republican, the vote was not even close…..  211 to 116 to keep same sex marriage as the law of the land in New Hampshire…

It appears that the backlash against the trashy Rick Santorum,  is making waves in the Republican Party itself… Running away from Social Conservatism and embracing the party’s roots in Libertarianism, the Republican Party of New Hampshire, may have found a method to survive in the modern world……

Eliminate the Social Conservatives….  Get rid of every stupid, stinkin’ thing they stand for….. Quite a few social conservatives checked themselves into the local hospital emergency room, as the whopping defeat made itself known…..

What is probably the most fascinating aspect of this absolutely ridiculing and embarrassing defeat of social conservatism, is that the force to defeat it….. came from conservatism itself…..  This was not a win by liberals… This was a win by conservatives for every American’s right to live free from the scorn that Social Conservatives heap on everyone who doesn’t share their cultish view.

As Tea Party Republican Tammy Simmons correctly noted:  “I always say that my liberty ends, where your liberty begins.  …And if you’re a gay man wanting to marry another gay man, how does that impact me personally? You know,.. it doesn’t …”

“It’s not about whether I’m Catholic or whether or not the party platform says this or whether or not the Democrats were the ones who brought it in the first place. All of that’s really irrelevant.”

Social Conservatives are irrelevant.

“It’s great to have faith and it’s great to have religion, but that should dictate your life, not how somebody else lives their life.”

“The people that are supporting repeal want their personal religious views to be the law of the land. I hate to say it, but that’s really what it’s coming down to,”—  Tammy Simmons

Our founding fathers gave up everything,  fought,  and died to prevent that… Damned if we’re going to let these nuts tear up the Constitution… and take us back to the very Dark Ages of Enlightenment……

“We’ve got so many Republican state representatives that are opposed to this repeal effort. And it’s like the Republican Party’s getting back to its roots—values of individual freedom and liberty and equality. It’s been an exciting thing to see. I think that New Hampshire is going to be a model for the national Republican Party to see that it is okay for the Republicans to be inclusive of gays and lesbians and to be in favor of equal rights. It’s a new step forward for the party.”  Tyler Deaton

Finally, a Republican Party that is getting back to it’s roots… values of individual freedom and liberty and equality.

Currently, if you valued freedom at all, the only place you could find it, was when you had a government consisting of all Democrats,  and no  Republicans…….

Why would they not cover the results of the primary as it was happening?

Hmmmm, what on earth could be going on at Fox News?

DAMN THIS STUPID CONGRESS THAT FORCES US TO TAKE DESPERATE MEANS. HOW CAN OLD MEN BE SO STUPID. I THOUGHT YOU GOT WISER WITH AGE
Image direct result caused by actions of the stupid fools impersonating a US Congress

This Wednesday, on January 18th 2012, we too will be participating in SOPA Blackout Day… I encourage every true American patriot left, to do likewise.

Call it temporary insanity but let’s pretend, let’s just say, …that at one moment in time, if I chose to donate my youth out for my country, to be compensated back in the form of low pay; to completely and unjudgingly offer my fate up to the will of bureaucrats, all for the loss of my own self esteem, all for unending stretches of boredom, sparsed with interludes of a few intense seconds, that fortunately thorough my reactions and training, enabled me to continue living as I do today………….

I could reasonably be expected to be honored for that service to my nation, right?

In a perfect world, that is….

One would think, that in a perfect world, as needs were being debated across the universe of public funding, that a hierarchy resembling this, would sort of be the guideline, if not the rule?

National Heroes…..

over

We, The People…..

over

LLC corporations….

After all, if it weren’t for us, there’s a good chance those LLC. corporations wouldn’t be able to do business in a free and prosperous society, you would think?….

One would think, that if one of these heroes needed medical care, with the tremendous amounts of money being thrown away by our government daily, in the forms of corporate tax breaks enabling corporations to make “record breaking profits”…. that they would be put at the top of the list.. don’t you think?

Sorry, CEO… your operation will have to wait… We have a veteran who is in dire need ahead of you….

In a perfect world….

One would think, that a voucher system would be in place, or a blank check, where any veteran could walk into any hospital, and get immediate, necessary medical attention, have his prescriptions filled as a privilege for his service, and that the bill would be willing be paid by those with monetary resources more than adequate for their own needs?

One would think, (right?)… that it would be CEO’s, those who give pink slips so they can break profit records, those who cut benefits so they can break profit records, those who don’t invest in America so they can break record profits, ….who should be the ones finding themselves regulated to CEO hospitals, where they would then have to settle in on a waiting list for the next opening to occur, where they had to endure budget cutbacks and go without life-saving medicine because there was no money left in the CEO fund, perhaps because it had all gone to Veterans to pay THEIR expenses?

In a perfect world…..

In a perfect world, veterans would need no freebies…. They would not need welfare, or a pension, or a humble stipend to eke an existence… They would be working, contributing to society, in any way they could… If they had no legs, they would be outfitted at corporate’s expense, so that would not be an issue… If they had no arms, they could be outfitted at corporate’s expense so that was not an issue. If they had psychological damage, (and who wouldn’t?) they could be treated at corporate’s expense… so that was not an issue.

If they were so badly damaged that they create an efficiency drain on society, they could be honored for their sacrifice, and a useful voluntary capacity could be created to honor that commitment once made so long ago… Perhaps speaking about serving one’s country in every class, in every school, in every county? Can you think of any better civic’s lesson?

There’s a lot that can be done…

The problem is that veterans are deemed as just another expense…. Because to corporate America, that is just what they are… An expense, an obligation to be met that gets in the way of their making more money…

Unfortunately, our Congress is owned by Corporate America….

What should and does need to happen, is this relationship needs to be exposed. We need to call them out on it…

Republicans and Democrats are both complicit in allowing corporate raiders this unprecedented power. But Republicans are the symbol of Corporate America. Republicans are the ones who championed the Corporate Takeover. Republicans are the ones who dismanteled the safeguards that had been put in place to prevent that takeover from happening. That is why they need to go. Disappear… Whoever is left, the remainder, most likely after seeing the elimination of a large majority of their peers, will think twice before following their Dark Lord, now a soul less wanderer eking existence.. ……

In a perfect world…

Unfortunately, today we need to contend with obscene amounts of money saying Corporate is Good; Government Fairness is Bad….

But we have our lives telling us the opposite… It will take courage and strong will, to override all the overload of sensory data being pipelined into our soul, but we still have hearts, and those hearts are attuned to what makes America special. great, and the best place to live on this earth….

WE can still dream….

And those dreams should include a perfect world… one we CAN make happen, at least for those without whom we would not have the freedom, the resources, the nation, we have today….

Here’s to a perfect world?

The following is what the Vision Committee of Occupy Wall Street struck up as their vision statement….

We Envision: [1] a truly free, democratic, and just society; [2] where we, the people, come together and solve our problems by consensus; [3] where people are encouraged to take personal and collective responsibility and participate in decision making; [4] where we learn to live in harmony and embrace principles of toleration and respect for diversity and the differing views of others; [5] where we secure the civil and human rights of all from violation by tyrannical forces and unjust governments; [6] where political and economic institutions work to benefit all, not just the privileged few; [7] where we provide full and free education to everyone, not merely to get jobs but to grow and flourish as human beings; [8] where we value human needs over monetary gain, to ensure decent standards of living without which effective democracy is impossible; [9] where we work together to protect the global environment to ensure that future generations will have safe and clean air, water and food supplies, and will be able to enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature that past generations have enjoyed.

It’s not practical.

Take the first line:

We Envision: [1] a truly free, democratic, and just society; [2] where we, the people, come together and solve our problems by consensus….

“Where we the people, come together.” Ok, how many people will you get together and where? 25, in a library side room? 40, in a Union Hall? 120 in a fire hall? 300, in the county building’s auditorium? 7000, in Frawley Stadium (hope it doesn’t rain)? 140,000 in Dover Raceway (fifteenth largest stadium in the world) and then what, where do the rest of our 307 million conglomerate?

Perhaps one could do it on-line. But how do we know that result is real, and not hacked? No, there is a reason that a representative system is best. For one, you just have to argue good sense into a few heads at a time, not millions who aren’t getting all the details of the argument.

Secondarily, as recently portrayed within the Occupy Movement, it often takes sooooo long for pure democracy to reach a consensus. and as illustrated by Occupy Oakland when they tried to throw out a trouble maker. There it was possible for him to stack the group in open meetings and thwart the necessary and significant change. Can you imagine what Republicans would do if we were discussing all policy in open forums and having everyone vote upon them? It takes one bad apple to ruin things in a pure democracy, and the Republicans are much larger than a party of one.

[3] where people are encouraged to take personal and collective responsibility and participate in decision making;

I’m sorry, I’d like to be at the meeting, but I have to work.. or I have to watch my kids, or I have this Dr.’s appointment made months ago, or my kid’s starting in the game tonight, or I have to volunteer at the food bank, or I have to see a movie and report on it for school, or I have to get my finances in order,….

How many of us make meetings now? How will it be any different in our future? Sorry honey, no sex tonight. I have to go vote on whether we raise country revenues by 33 million or 32 and 3/4 million… It’s very important you know.

[4] where we learn to live in harmony and embrace principles of toleration and respect for diversity and the differing views of others;

Forget it! There is no way I’ll sit in the same room while a corporate fat cat whines about the fact that he’s losing money….. He should be in jail. After all he’s done to ruin America? Why should I tolerate and respect his views? Ain’t happening….

[5] where we secure the civil and human rights of all from violation by tyrannical forces and unjust governments;

Define unjust governments: What happens if my government blocks my Internet access because I downloaded a free copy of Roger and Me? Wouldn’t that be unjust?

[6] where political and economic institutions work to benefit all, not just the privileged few;

If unions support and elect a candidate, don’t they, then having the inside ear, become the privileged few? If churches can bend the inside ear of their candidate, don’t they get to include themselves among the privileged few? When Mayor Barry got reelected, didn’t crack dealers consider themselves the privileged few? Whoever wins an election, or helps win an election, becomes the privileged few. Whether he’s a small town operator, or owns a wealthy conglomerate, if he has the ear, he gets his way… Currently, it’s the one percent that has control. But that can change in an instant.

[7] where we provide full and free education to everyone, not merely to get jobs but to grow and flourish as human beings.

We do that: the concept of high school is broken; it doesn’t work.

[8] where we value human needs over monetary gain, to ensure decent standards of living without which effective democracy is impossible;

We did that with the Great Society. We pumped welfare money into black and Appalachian neighborhoods and wound up creating dependent societies who could not function without welfare money. Unemployment never dropped, because there was no incentive. Why work when you could live for free? No matter how much we pumped in, their standard of living still sucked.

[9] where we work together to protect the global environment to ensure that future generations will have safe and clean air, water and food supplies, and will be able to enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature that past generations have enjoyed.

Build a city? or preserve open space? People always will win over animals.

Although these are thoroughly impractical, they are nice platitudes. They would be nice standards to place in a Miss Manners Guide to Congress, at least as a guide on how Congress should act civilly among themselves to in turn represent the greatness of what they do, and the respect of whom they represent.

But they are impractical in a real world. Only one person could sabotage a meeting under these guidelines. The assumption behind these platitudes is that everyone want what’s best for America.

That is a lie. We saw Republicans sell America down the river last summer solely to help their party’s chances November 2012. You and I got dissed; they get elected (and then dis us up even more… )
