Yesterday, the first day of the Republican Congress, a bill was rushed through the House and passed: requiring the Congressional Budget Office to use dynamic scoring when figuring out future budgets…
Republicans have been saying lower taxes cause the economy to grow and that growth generates more revenue. They’ve said that for years… We’ve tried it for the past 15 but things got worse for all of us, instead of better…
Last couple of years, under Paul Ryan (that little whiz-boy from Wisconsin), they tried writing budgets for their first time and found, that everything they have been saying, was indeed wrong… The math would not work out…
The reason the math would not work out, is because of a simple fact that when you don’t pay your bills and instead splurge and waste that bill-money, at some future point there will be a reckoning. Like if you choose spend your mortgage, electricity bill, water bill, gas bill money on big-ticket orgies, there comes a point where you are left dry, cold, in the dark, and have no domicile.
This is terrible they said… What can we do… ..
The answer obvious to any 5 year old, is to pretend. We can pretend that we will get tons of money later and pay our debts off then…
So we convince ourselves that IF we spend $10,000 over budget, we will soon be making $100,000 more so we can pay it back then. IF we get a $10,000 raise every year, then next year we just run the same as this, and have $10,000 extra dollars with which to pay it back.
Now this does work if you are indeed guaranteed to get $10,000 increases every year… What dynamic scoring does is make the assumption we will set-in-stone increases to our salary by $10,000 every year for ten years straight. So your yearly income will climb like this:
- Base rate: $40,000 per year
- After Year One: $50,000 per year
- After Year Two $60,000 per year
- After Year Three $70,000 per year
- After Year Four $ 80,000 per year
- After Year Five $90,000 per year
- After Year Six $100,000 per year
- After Year Seven $110,000 per year
- After Year Eight $120,000 per year
- After Year Nine $130,000 per year
- After Year Ten: $140,000 per year
Then what they do is add all these together and come up with an argument like this… We can easily afford this orgy and hire Taylor Swift to sing for it because look, over ten years we are going to earn $990,000 so we can easily pay back the $10,000 we blow on ourselves right now… ( Now if you’ve been a Republican shut out from parties for a long while, not being invited to do the bump with Jerry Jones) just hearing this may make you decide to jump in, no clothes and all.
====
But here is reality… You probably are not going to get a $10,000 (25%) raise… Let us look at this logically.. How long have you been working? How many $10,000 raises have you ever gotten before? Did any of your costs also rise with that raise, so you really didn’t have all that money to spend? Across history, was there ever a time when $10,000 raises per year were the norm? If not, why would they suddenly start now?
So what usually happens in households that pursue false dreams, is that if they do not tie expenses to actual income, they usually come up short and that shorted gap grows bigger and bigger.
Here is what to expect in reality… The first year we spend $10,000 over what we make. It is either loaned to us, or we simply just skip paying our bills for one year… The next year we not only again spend $10,000 more than we make, but we still make the same $40,000… So that year on our $40,000 income we owe $10,000 from year one, and $10,000 from year two. We can’t live on just $20,000 in order to pay it all back… So, assuming we will get much more income the following year, we stretch the loan a little further… But again, no raise comes that year.
Where we pretended that we would be making $60,000 by that year (year 3) {and over the three year span would have accumulated $150,000 (40,000 + 50,000 + 60,000), enabling us to pay back three years ($30,000) of $10,000 overdrafts having $120,000 left over}… Instead due to a lack of “pretended raise” amounts, we only got $120,000 over those three years, and borrowed $10,000 each year, so our net balance is $90, 000, which as you see divided by 3, equals $30,000 per year, whereas our regular living expenses continued at the original $40,000 per year.Yet we live like we are making $50,000, $60,000, $70,000 each subsequent year due to our over-extended loans….
This is dynamic scoring…. It should be illegal, and until yesterday, it was.
It is possible, it can work if the assumptions work out… So one must look at the assumptions very carefully to see if they are realistic… Dynamic scoring has only one reason for existence. To convince people who don’t want to spend that hard earned money of theirs on a risky venture, to go ahead and spend it on that risky venture by consoling them it will be painless when looked back upon from the future.
And the” risky venture” this time, is again take the bulk of your money and hand it over to the top one percent, giving them even more power over you… If you do that these people say, money will just grow for them and everyone will be rich…. give them your money; give it to them now.
Alas we’ve tried that already… We didn’t get rich. For it, we got a very deep recession, We got the 1% owning more than ever; the 99% owning less. We got 80% of our population living day to day, week to week, just a little above subsistence… We went backward. Now with this Congress we are about to have a new battle of inequality on a level unseen in America, And this time: it will all take place up within the top 1%… Who among them will win the final championship monopoly game?.. Who will lose?… It matters little to most of us, Most of us were eliminated long time ago.
But first, for all of this to occur, they first have to change the way we do math itself in order to justify it, because it doesn’t work out their way using real numbers. And that, my friends,… is what was done yesterday.
Hello, hello, is anyone in there?
Nod if you can hear me… is there anybody home?
Get this… tonight as I speak… (or write) there are at the behest of Nancy Pelosi 174 Democratic Representatives who have signed the letter in support of adding unemployment benefits extensions to the new budget about to be voted in….
Without them, everyone who is on extended unemployment, roughly 4.1 million do not receive an unemployment check in two weeks. They are destitute.
29 have at this point, not signed…. Here they are…..

“John Carney…. You are receding…. A distant ship’s smoke on the horizon…. You are only coming through in waves…..
You’re lips move…. But we can’t hear what you say!…….”
You have become……….
The medical profession is falling apart. Hospitals, insurance, clinics, are all taking your money, and spending it on themselves, not you. In an age when middle America is biting bullets, those in charge of Medicine are getting rich. Steve just put up where Hallmark is denying insurance payments to those in its own clinic, then applying their credit card used for the co-pay, to soak up the total amount of the bill.
People are finding their bank balances zero, at very inopportune times.
When we grew up, doctors were decent people. Now all they want is $$$$. They don’t help people anymore. It is time to change that. It is past time to change that.
Competition. That is how. Doctors who work on the cheap. Of, if you want, you can keep your high priced physician, who does nothing but talk to you for 5 minutes, have a prescription called in for you, and for that take a full day’s wages out of your pocket.
Imagine getting medical attention for $5? Here is how.
We hire the smartest college graduates from the finest schools. These are smart people. Once hired, we take them away to a retreat, and give them a 5 week program grounded in everything medical. Everyone has been to a doctors office. How hard can it be? In that five week course, they learn everything a doctor needs to know. WE then put them in clinics across the inner cities, areas where it is hard to staff, so people can get medical coverage for $5 dollars a visit. One can imagine how busy they would be!
These are very smart people. They can figure out the rest as they go along. Who really needs to know the name of every bone? The names of every muscle? How the digestive system works. Does it really matter if you can’t remember whether the large intestine comes before or after the small intestine? If one can’t remember, just stick your fingers up (wear gloves of course) and find out.
The problem is all those doctors who went to expensive medical school, and over charge because of it. Being a doctor is so simple, even a cave man can do it. The reason medical costs are so high, is because of medical boards that set pricing.
This program will get around that, by hiring college students at normal college student wages, and put them in clinics charging $5 a pop…
One would think insurers would prefer paying out $5 instead of $500! They will be on board. KWS will make sure of that. And one of the greatest things about this program, is that when incompetent existing doctors throw in their towel, or get banned by their customer’s test scores, we have a whole crop of ready-to-go doctors who can jump into to any practice at a moment’s notice.
Just give them a medical book, and we have cheap, quality health-care. After all, they are very smart people you know.
This is not medieval England. Today, anyone can be a doctor. you just type the symptoms into Google, and write the perscription it spits out. We don’t need four years of medical school on top of our undergraduate program. We need people who jump in, and Heal for America.
Really. They are just doctors. We’ve all been to doctor’s offices. How hard could it be? Competent medical care on the cheap!.. “‘Tis a consummation devoutly to be wished!” Just think of all those lazy investors crying crocodile tears because they can’t rip us off anymore! I mean 5 weeks is enough to learn about everything. Even 6 weeks study is too much.
Our medical profession needs kicked. We can’t delay any more this concept’s implementation.
Paul Ryan proving Rand Paul right.
Please note. At the beginning of this legislative session, Jack Markell kept all the tax increases in, except one, for those making over $60,000. There was a lot of talk about the need for a higher bracket, talk that perhaps in Delaware it should start at $1 million. It could then be accurately called a millionaires tax. Delaware’s Gatsby Tax has a nice ring to it….
This year, their rate was shifted from 6.95% down to 6.75%, then in future years it drops to 5.95%. Per every $100 million assessed in income, that is a loss of $1 million dollars coming in. Based on Budget estimates this tax cut will cost Delaware $68 million a year… This all happened at the beginning of the session.
Now with 6 days left in this year’s session, today, we get the announcement that we need $80 million dollars in new taxes.
\
Gov. Jack Markell has offered (mighty nice of him) legislators a selection of more than $80 million in tax and fee increases to spend on roads, beaches, parks and waterways, but already legislators are rejecting some of the ideas. Markell included a 5-cent increase in the gasoline tax…
Other ideas including upping document fees charged when Delawareans purchase a car (aka a sales tax on new car purchases), expanding the hotel accommodation tax so it applies to beach rental properties, and increasing vehicle registration fees and highway tolls. Excerpt from News Journal (why bother linking to it; most of you don’t subscribe anyways). See Real News at Delaware Liberal.
This had to be planned all along! Cut the tax on the wealthy at the top, wait for the last minute, then call an emergency and slap regular people with $80 million dollars worth of fees… just averaged out to every Delawarean,(including every child so per family it is much higher) that is an increase of $80 dollars spread out over the year… If your take home pay was say, $30,000, it will now effectively be $29,920…
You are losing $80… Why? Because the General Assembly was USED. Tricked by a switcheroo….
Here is what should happen. The Democratic Majority in anger against being made into a fool by their governor of the same party, should ramrod over the dead bodies of Republicans, a 10% marginal tax rate on all those making over $1 million a year! And put it defiantly right on Markell’s desk to sign, (thereby almost guaranteeing everyone of them re-election into the next session. Woo Hoo)
Markell will either have to sign, put the state in arrears, or back down and compromise.
That is how you teach a trickster a lesson.
After every tragedy we’ve talked about doing something to stop random violence with assault weapons.
We talk.
The last person who “did” anything, was James Brady who said enough is enough and pushed the “Brady Bill” over the NRA’s dead body into law.
It is time for the next step.
Every American must ask themselves. Since there will be no compromise, which is more important for America’s future?

Then we need to start to work. I think it is safe to say that after Newtown, Connecticut, we are done with options. It has now become,… an obligation for us to stop this trend….
We need to act soon, before the next perpetrator, tries to outdo even this tragedy……
In business it is one of the traits we try to teach.. It is not a natural tendency. The natural tendency is to point the finger elsewhere, as is well known by anyone who has raised little children. Sometimes their excuses are hilarious. And sometimes those of adults are even funnier.
But in business we teach those coming up that accepting the blame does many things. It stops the investigation process. Life gets back to doing everyones job to the best of their ability.
Secondly, the person most responsible, is now in charge of finding how and why the mistake happened. Most of what we experience takes place between our two ears. For someone else to guess at what is going on there, makes a hearing sound like the comments running mad of an inane post on some blog somewhere… Everyone is an expert on what the head hancho was thinking. Better to let the person who actually knows what thought processes went down, determine the weakness and broken links, then offering it up to pure speculation…..
Third, as soon as the acceptance of accountability is made, the story, if a negative, starts to go away…. The usual formula is that on the break of the next day, the scandal is half as bad, and the next day after that, it is again half as bad or one fourth as bad as originally, and that ratio continues until soon, no one really cares.
One would think a business man at the head of the Republican Party would know this. (But then, he was only an investor; not a business man.) This moral characteristic compared to that of our current commander in chief, echos the thoughts of most Americans, …. we chose the right man to be in charge.
But here, is why, Mitt Romney says, he lost the election.
It was Governor Christie’s fault after Hurricane Sandy.
It was the GOP Primary Debate Moderators.
It was the 47% who get things for free and don’t want to do an honest days work.
It was Hurricane Sandy’s fault.
As long as it wasn’t Romney’s fault.
Forget: unemployment dropped to 7.8 the weekend after the debate.
Forget: Detroit should go bankrupt.
Forget: They are closing down all Jeep plants in the USA and making them in China.
Forget: My Vice President can’t tell the truth. Even about a marathon he ran 20 years ago.
Forget: My convention was built on a twisted lie concocted by misrepresenting the words of the President.
Forget: My bright shining moment of royal entitlement, was usurped by an empty chair.
As long as it wasn’t Romney’s fault.
Bottom line, America sensed that, or more properly put, a majority of American’s sensed that. And that is why, a commander in chief, who says, “I’m responsible for Benghazi, the buck stops here,” is always preferable to having someone who has no regard for the collateral damage his bomb throwing may cause, … because…. it is always someone else’s fault……

More than three percent of the electorate told exit pollers they were more liberal in 2012 than they were in 2008.
Currently liberals are at their highest ranking since Roosevelt in 1936. Whereas Conservatives showed little gain, Liberals climbed at the fastest rate on the chart.
Things to ponder.
Having a president called a liberal who is doing a marvelous job, cuts down on the pejorativeness of the word Liberal. Speculation is: people are no longer afraid to say they are, because Obama’s performance backs them up.
Second, having conservatives constantly embarrass themselves and the nation, every 24 hours making us look pathetically bad, would make one squeamish to tell a stranger, that they were conservative. I mean, people have pride.
Also, conservatives are dying every day, and liberals are being born. Without winning converts, that trend would continue.
But interestingly, over the past four years, people have decided they don’t mind being called a liberal… it also shows conservatives, that no matter how they process their message, even if they make the South Carolina beauty queen their official spokesperson, they lose. Conservatism is dead, unless it continues in a capacity that moderates will say, “oh, you said you’d keep out of women’s lives? keep taxes high on the wealthy? sure we’ll get back on board”. i can’t see Republicans going that far, meaning that Democrats and moderates will rule, “as far as the eye can see”….”
Harry Reid was right. Bloomberg finally cracked the story…
Using a tax shelter called a CRUT (charitable remainder unitrust) that was held by the Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Mitt Romney was able to pay zero taxes (legally) every single year from 1996 to 2009. Why did he stop in 2009? Because he would make public his 2010 tax return, that is why.
This tax loophole was killed by Congress in 1997. However those including Romney that were already using it were allowed to continue it. The way it works, is that Romney makes a “charitable” contribution to the Church of Latter Day Saints and the goes into a trust. Since the trust is generated by the church, it is tax deferred. Any capital gains, are non taxed because of the charities status. Like an annuity, the donor gets a charitable tax deduction and an stream of cash payments. When Romney dies, the church accepts full ownership..
Bloomsberg’s attorneys estimate as the Romneys have received these payments, the money that will potentially be left for charity has declined from at least $750,000 in 2001 to $421,203 at the end of 2011…..
Romney has refused to answer any thing on this topic. His campaign puts out that it was all legal….
Legal perhaps. Ethical for the president of the United States? Well, only if you want a crook running the country…. Imagine! Legally stealing from your church!.
