AFter considering an exchange propagated by Delaware Politic’s David Anderson, and subsequent discussion upon that thread, Delaware’s Chairman of the Republican Party, John Sigler is stepping down.

Starting with;

“My friend, you are smart, capable, and competent. You did not run for reelection to preside over the demise of the party you love, but to revive it. Please talk like it. “

The piece goes on to question why Delaware’s republican party was repeating the mistakes of the past.  It castigates the current chair for not leading….

“We have lost 30 volunteers in the last 6 weeks to the Independent Party of Delaware because they are willing to grow and fight. The what, IPOD–how do we lose people to a little party that couldn’t fill a back room in a small restaurant last year for a convention? ”

“The first step to all of that is not giving people the impression that we are losers. We are contenders on the verge of becoming champions.”

Comments then drove it home…  some excerpts……

“But in truth… it is really all goes back to the first… Why Sigler? The answer I can only come up with, is that the organization itself is tired, beat up, broken down and on its final count, so worn out that it would rather stay on the floor and have it be over, than get back up to start hitting back…”

“Again, it comes down to the first… Why Sigler? Answer us how with Sigler in charge your party can muster a counter attack no matter how much cajoling the underlings do?”

That seems to hit home.  The Northern Republican apparatus was abuzz with calls today.

Then one commenter put everything into perspective.

“But it certainly is beginning to appear that conservatism needs to divorce itself from the Republican Party. That party will not carry your banner as high as you would like, ever again. Especially after the last war. As long as conservatives remain in the Republican Party they will continue to only receive lip service to their faces, all the while secret denials of their clout will be leaked to the media by their top campaign operatives.”

The commenter then continues to drive the point that the Conservatives need to form a new party, particularly the one now called IPOD, as opposed the the original one founded by Liz Allen and Frank McDowell… This and that are two different parties.

The commenter then advises:

“But if you do choose to ban together, you must all bite your tongues and be wary that the slightest slip, will do little to help you exert control within the party, but utterly destroy the entire legitimacy of conservatism itself… Just looking above on this thread, it is apparent that the Delaware Republican contingent has mismanaged many Conservatives over the past. if all these were to somehow come together and combine their talents, it is quite possible that conservatives could begin organizing to make a comeback, not as a wing of the moderate Republican Party, but as IPODs.”

And then reality struck!

Much was said of Christine O’Donnell. But in 2008 she beat the current Vice President in quite a few RD’s. Stop for a second and savor that: she beat the Vice President in his home state. Imagine if all those votes became IPODs? and why wouldn’t they, if IPODs became the rallying point for local rural conservative values? It is conceivable. If this could come to pass, the IPODs would sit on Sussex County Council.. The IPOD’s would have seats in the General Assembly.

It is obvious why the resignation was quick, sudden, and mysterious.

It seem that no matter what Obama does these days he always comes out on the right side of the issue, and the Republicans always look like a bad live skit off Saturday Night Live….. You know, the ones so bad you just laugh at the fart noises?

Today the International Association of Chiefs of Police released the following statement…..

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) commends President Obama and Vice President Biden for the comprehensive package of proposals they announced to combat gun violence. The IACP believes that the proposals and actions reflect an effective, balanced approach to addressing the plague of gun violence in our communities and nation. As this process moves forward, the IACP will continue to work with the Administration, members of Congress, and public safety leaders across the country to enact these much needed reforms.

For many years, the IACP has been a leading voice in efforts to reduce gun violence. Our membership was, and remains, a leading proponent of universal background checks for gun purchases, the ban on military style assault weapons, high capacity magazines, and ensuring that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) has both a permanent director and sufficient resources to enforce our nation’s gun laws. The adoption of these, and other reasonable measures, will certainly assist in reducing the level of gun violence in our Nation.

Doesn’t that make David Anderson, Don Ayotte, Frank Knotts, Jon Moseley, all anti-police? Hey, wait a minute… One of those is an elected official for the city of Dover, and he is anti police? Hmm, he is running this year… I wonder if his constituents know it, ..that their active council person seeking a third term is anti police?

You can’t be for no regulation on guns, and be pro police.

From our brother right of center blog out of Slower Lower……

As usual Mr. Ayotte presented his case with an angry tone, at one point he told another person to “shut up” and another to “kiss my ass”. One can only wonder why he didn’t win his election.

I laughed out loud.

“Let’s face it the quality of this site (Delawarepolitics.net) leaves much to be desired. Still, it is reflective of the state of the GOP in this state….”

I know that is not how the comment was intended…. but that is how it came out….

Love good comments.

With Sandy’s approach, words of warning went out to all campaigns.. Get your big signs down for the storm.  Feel free to put them up after the storm blows by.  Everyone got an email.

Democrats were in full force, and in New Castle County, not one Democratic sign was left standing…  By noon all  were stored for safe keeping…

There were no libertarian candidate’s signs.  As dedicated citizens, the libertarian team scoured the county and by noon, their signs were all stored for save keeping.

The one Jill Stein sign I’d seen, was gone.  Secured by the Green Party….

In fact the only signs up as darkness approached,  were those of Alex Pires, which is understandable,  it being a one man operation, and those of the Republican line up, which apparently has even fewer supporters.

It looks like Kansas,  at intersections now, with only Republicans contesting a one man operation….

If the Green Party and Libertarian party can mobilize faster than the Republican, it is time to stop calling the Republican Party a “major” party.

Even the Wizard of Oz had more going for it than today’s Delaware Republicans, who with their daily bumbles are rapidly creating a new definition of the English word pathetic.

I feel so bad for the boy. I thought, my, what if that had been my son?

Now as a parent I wonder. What on earth could I possibly do for my son after he’d experienced something like that. How as a parent could I somehow give hope, that even though something hellish and horrific took place, “yeah, son, you can still go on”. “Yeah, son, you can still succeed”. “yeah, son, you can have the best revenge, which is living well…”

Platitudes don’t cut it.

How does one communicate through to someone who has gone through such a tragedy? Here all my words fall short. I don’t know if I can. And that ineffectiveness pains me. I don’t think that of all the good that is in me, that any, none that I could give, could ever fill but the tiniest part of that vast hole which must lurk within…..

I do know that closure is important. Having evil lose, is very important to mankind. It is important to all of us. It will be hard, for those memories are buried deep. When they get exhumed as you go through the trial, which with appeals will take years, those feelings you haven’t felt for years, all come rushing back with the intensity you once experienced them…..

But for closure, justice must be pursued. For the simple reason is, that if justice is not allowed to fulfill it’s proper destiny, than we are all unjust ourselves, because we stood in its way. And that, is not who we are…

People will say you are brave. They will thank you for coming forward. They will interview you for your deepest feelings. Then they will go on with their lives proud of what they did. They will forget you.

That may be good, and that may be hard on you after being in the limelight for so long.

And that is when you anger really begins. You no longer have an outlet to express it. Your friends tell you to get over it. You feel like you are a pariah where ever you go…. Whether you imagine or it is real, whispers of being “that victim” will always haunt you….

I probably shouldn’t mention it here, it’s way too early in the process, but there is a way out. And what goes on outside of you, really has nothing to do with what is on your inside….

And that is to forgive him. Yes. forgive Eric Bodenweiser. I’m not saying to let justice off the hook; its wheels need to grind with regularity. Justice is out of your hands. What is in your hands, is your heart…

Forgiveness has been rated a weakness by our American society. When actually it is very hard to do. It takes a tougher man to forgive, than it does to carry revenge as a motive for the rest of their life. That actually is easy compared to forgiving one who did something so horrible to you.

I don’t know if you are up for it. I think it is far too tough for most people. Christians talk about it, but in your case, I think that would be the wrong example to bring up. I know Martin Luther King did it. I know Gandhi did it. I know Mandela did it. I know Mother Teresa did it.

I really didn’t get why forgiveness is important, until watching Star Wars. But somewhere along one of those episodes, it hit me that my anger was what was keeping me weak. It was the focus of all I did. I couldn’t see life past it. It made me do things other people saw as ugly. It created many problems over which I was always trying to overcome. I often wondered why I always had so many problems compared to others, without understanding that I was the one creating them… Where Yoda says: “let go of the anger. let go of the hurt…” that was the point in my lifetime where I realized forgiveness wasn’t something Christian. It was something human, requiring us to use our minds and talk ourselves through our anger, and accept that what happened, was a part of what we were to become in our future….. and that we had a choice of whether to turn that into good, or continue the evil.

Point is, when you finally let go, you are the beneficiary. Mostly we are taught to think forgiveness is for our foe. No, it really is for us; it is a cathartic experience that yeah, we walked through hell and survived… Only after we have truly forgiven them, can we look at ourselves and say, wow, I’m this really great human being. I’m like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Mandela, and Sister Teresa.

I said above, that there was nothing I could do. But perhaps this is it. Perhaps just for years, keep in mind that forgiving Eric Bodenweiser will be what you have to do someday to move beyond this…. It might take years after justice has been served…. Just keep it in mind. … My heart, my soul goes out to you now…

I know you have a tough time headed your way. If you need anything……

This is from Huckabee who like me is horrified how the GOP threw Akin under the bus. Here is insight into the quality of those people we will be putting in to head our Executive Branch if we elect a Romney Ryan ticket….

They believe in force; not logic or the art of winning arguments…..

Talking point memos sent from the National Republican Senatorial Committee offering the exact proper language to express to the press to help urge Akin to drop out…

Political consultants were ordered to stay away from Akin or lose future business with GOP committees….

Operatives were recruited to set up a network of pastors to call Akin to urge him to get out…..

Money has changed hands to push him off the plank…

In Huckabee’s words….IT IS DISGRACEFUL……

“…it may appear that the demand for Akin’s head is universal in the party. I assure you it is not. There is a vast, but mostly quiet army of people who have an innate sense of fairness and don’t like to see a fellow political pilgrim bullied. If Todd Akin loses the Senate seat, I will not blame Todd Akin. He made his mistake, but was man enough to admit it and apologize. I’m waiting for the apology from whoever the genius was on the high pedestals of our party who thought it wise to not only shoot our wounded, but run over him with tanks and trucks and then feed his body to the liberal wolves. It wasn’t just Todd Akin that was treated with contempt by the thinly veiled attack on Todd Akin. It was all the people who have faithfully knocked doors, made calls, and made sacrificial contributions to elect Republicans because we thought we were welcome in the party. Todd Akin owned his mistake. Who will step up and admit the effort being made to discredit Akin and apologize for the sleazy way it’s been handled?”…..

Democrat or Republican… is this how you want your government run for four more years? Like it is an extension of Bain Capital? Where truth doesn’t matter? Where there is no forgiveness? Where people are pawns to be moved around at will….

Most disgusting is the fact that pastors were recruited to call on Akin to step down… After this, NO ONE CAN BELIEVE ANY PASTOR WHO SAYS THEY SUPPORTS ROMNEY… It begs the question: “GEE, HOW MUCH IS HE GETTING PAID?”

At least Obama is a real Christian…….

I’m trying to put all your ideas together into one package. So, let me get this right… All you are asking is for, is a country where:

1) There is no universal healthcare.
2) Few entitlement programs.
3) Low Flat Tax System.
4) Faith based Government.
5) A deep reverence for God.
6) Extremely strict rules against abortion.
7) Marriage has already been strictly defined as between man and woman.
8) Homosexuality is a sin, and illegal.
9) Dress Codes are strictly enforced.
10) Tattoos, piercings, baggy pants, are banned.
11) Has the Death Penalty which they aren’t shy about using.
12) Strong private school system with religious focus.
13) Widespread dependency on oil and natural gas drilling.
14) Growing nuclear program
15) Nonexistent environmental nuisances
16) Culture that promotes family and stereotyped roles for men and women.

I’ve endeavored to put all your values on one page. I share your frustration because today, ever since 2008, it seems like America is moving further and further away from these values.

But you don’t have to be frustrated anymore. I have looked far and wide and have discovered a place already in existence that has those values in place, and more. If you sorely long for those values above, it is sincerely a place where you and your family would be very happy.

It is Iran.

You don’t have to pay me. I don’t need any commission. Just glad to help a fellow Delawarean out…. No problem.

We saw in Florida, the power of super PACS.. Ten people with unlimited money, decide the race…

The ads do not have to be truthful; they need only be effective. One telling comment in an exit poll was that it was apparent that voters were confused, because 72% thought Gingrich was too liberal, and 52% thought he was too conservative…..

Obviously there are some mixed up Floridians out there…….

WE can’t change the dynamics. But what we can do is use the unlimited resources at our disposal, to point out the untruths in each ad….

If citizens know where to turn to for a truthful dissection of the ad’s content, then the ad’s effectiveness is countered…

It is like ignoring a liar… He continues lying with each breath, not knowing that his audience is wise and is long past even giving anything he says worth an iota of consideration….. This is the people’s retalitory method to render each attack ad useless.

Here is my challenge… I challenge Delaware Politics to take every Democratic ad, and break it down into truths and untruths… They have a large number of contributors so this task is manageable to them… This is a public duty, and one I think they would be proud to bear….

I hereby challenge Delaware Liberal, a blog also gifted with a large number of contributors, to dissect and prove or disprove all Republican ads true or false…. Likewise this is a public duty, and one I too, think they would be proud to bear……

What is needed is someone to debunk the massive amounts of money being spent on lies, shifting ghosts, and innuendos. I think if word of this challenge gets out through national blogs like Red State and Daily Kos, that some truth will be brought to bear on advertising.

For human nature is this: if you know someone will quickly call you out on a lie, (I’m remembering Copeland’s paper ballot showing Obama, Markell, Copeland, handed out in Wilmington’s inner city) the backlash will probably outweigh any initial advantage one has in offering the misrepresentation in the first place..

Meaning just the threat of both you doing so, will keep ads more honest than it there was no one watching or keeping score… Obviously no one was watching in Florida…..

I bereby challenge these two respectable blogs, each in their own arena, to become the nation’s (WE the People’s) advocates for truth….

I feel each of these two entities can be trusted to give a valid opinion. No one trusts ABC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC, or FOX to be able to do the same. As we have all seen, they will lie for money.

I hope my friends on both side are up for the effort. Our nation is counting on you to lead.

The First State, should always be the one who, when it comes to WE The People, lead first…….

So, can someone tell me again, why we shouldn’t tax the rich, and instead, balance the budget on the backs of everyone else?…….

I seem to be missing that little detail where that all makes sense……
