In a recent debate:  What would get you to change your mind?

  • Republican:  “Nothing, I’m a Christian.”
  • Democrat:  “Evidence.”

Think about the campaigns of 2012, 2010, 2008, 2006, 2004, 2002, 2000…..  Doesn’t that snippet above ring true?  Evidence based decisions versus wishful thinking….

The reason I began listening to local station WDEL, was because they dropped Rush Limbaugh from their afternoon programing. Instead of hate and stupidness, I got to hear of matters important to me. My county government. My city government. My state government. And of course, national politics always interjected.

I can’t get enough of it. I read the paper in the morning, and I can’t wait for the local talk shows to come on. The progressives own the morning. The conservatives own the afternoon, and I’m still trying to figure out who owns the evening…

It is kinda silly, I know, but because I listen and hear the advertisements, my kids sing their jingles in the car. Driving down Main Street in Newark, they’ll blurt out, “there’s Alex and Ani’s“. The older kids insist they want music on, but I’m the boss.

Some of the advertisers seem like old friends. One hears them over and over, and even can go back and note the different commercials back through time. Calvert Plumbing and Heating is one I hope to use next time fate strikes. The best one, besides the “Alex and Ani” with sitar music put in place by Rick Jensen, is the DelmarvaJobs.com featuring the harp player. I hope that gets nominated for CLIO, the advertiser’s equivalent of the Oscars….

And this should be in everyone’s Northern Delaware bookmarks. It is the tower cam. One rarely thinks of us being in eyesight of downtown Philadelphia, but we certainly are. One can tell the weather with one visual click.

Anyways, the point of this was not to brag on WDEL and extol how fortunate we were to have it at our disposal, but to point to the dark side, which is about that human being whose leaving is what drove me to begin listening to WDEL in the first place.

Rush Limbaugh is in trouble. For a while he was harmless harping at Democrats, and we all know, sometimes Democrats need harping at. But as his worth became higher, he had to push buttons to justify his high expense. His audience no longer consisted of regular Joe’s, but had to become fanatics who would listen and respond. And the biggest thing fanatics crave, is more fanaticism, and Rush obliged.

Now, he bashes the poor. Now he bashes every gay person. Now he bashes Liberals. And last March, he bashed a woman for simply being a woman.

That made people take notice. WHOA, this guy is an ass…… Seriously, when you demean 53% of the population (women), knowing that at least half the men are married and will dutifully side with their spouses (YOU’D BETTER!)….. ticking off 75% of the American population, can’t be good for business.

That is bearing fruit.

Arising from that, several organizations are targeting his advertisers. This is not a hate campaign. It is a calm, respectable, and very businesslike campaign. They are calling up advertisers and saying …”yesterday your ad played on this station at this time, and this is what went before and after it… Advertisers were appalled…. Most of them do not support Rush Limbaugh, but buy ads with a local radio station…. The radio station then puts their ads in holes where ever they need them… Radio stations that carry Rush Limbaugh are bound by contract to still do so, and are having a terrible time scheduling just those advertisers who … so far… have not expressly said…” Make sure we aren’t on Rush.”

2200 sponsors have pulled their ads so far. At first these were mentioned but Rush supporters attacked these businesses with threats of shooting them with NRA sanctioned assault weapons (they were idle threats, no events occurred) that now, the names are kept hidden. But anyone listening over time, can certainly, after hearing only one advertisement on his program get played over and over, realize his brand is in deep trouble.

The show is doing so badly that Freedom Works, the Karl Rove PAC that garnered $300 million dollars, is using their money just to keep Rush on the air…

So in what seems like an outrageous chain of events, the only reason Rush Limbaugh is still on air it appears, is because billionaires have too much money on their hands… In 2013, Freedom Works plans to spend between $25 and $30 million. Glenn Beck is also included in its largess.

Freedom of speech is a right. No one is arguing over whether Freedom Works benefactor Stepheson can say what he wants with his $100 million donations. But that right goes both ways. Advertisers have the right to know what their money appears to be saying about themselves when their ads show up on Rush Limbaugh.

It says, “I the advertiser, support the embarrassment of the poor. I support the deportation of Mexicans. I support the incarceration of the entire black comminity. I support the killing of Liberals with assault weapons, and I support the rape of women”… In fact, supporting Rush, say something like this: ” Hey, woman, come take your clothes off and dance for me….. After all, that’s all you’re good for!!!! Ha, ha, ha.”

You too must join in taking him down, for the simple reason that it allows many more Americans to enjoy the benefits of local radio programming as we have here in Delaware for 6 years….

The stuffing of the goose is done. Time to cook the goose, and at the feast, get back to being Americans again. Working together, and not against each other…..

Tomorrow, is the day… like a wedding, can’t wait for it to finally be over so life can go on again…. But there is one last thing to do.

Look at the Republican Party. The only reason Romney is doing well, is because he pivoted in the first debate, and became a liberal. His past track record had almost pushed him to the point of no return, until he reinvented himself upon that first debate stage. In other words, Romney is now the more liberal candidate, if one just looks at what he has said since October 4th.

However the old message is still prevalent in Delaware’s Republican exoskeleton. Kovach who once was considered a decent person, is now a compromised decent person. Kevin Wade, is nothing more than a word to rhyme with suede. Jeff Craig wants us to believe that if you can run a 16 X 40 foot retail outlet buried in the middle of a Fairfax strip mall, you can run the entire state’s government. Greg Lavelle believes that if you trash your opponent hard enough, you will get elected. Cathy Cloutier believes that no one gives enough of a hoot, making it so simple that she can be endorsed by the pro choice and pro life movements in the same election. Evan Quietsch believes the United Nations has set up a secret outpost somewhere in the woods of the 11th District, and that his challenger is the Manchurian Candidate who is actually from Manchuria. Rick Jensen has to ignore 99% of a story to make his case in support of any Republican who shows up on his show. Dori Conner, is running “Go, Go William Penn” down in Cavalier Country. NCCE Blake has to put stickers on his campaign signs, that say “I’m not Tom Gordan.” Then there is DelawarePolitics.Net, which although it has great people, they all get their orders from Homer Simpson. There is Brian Pettyjohn who, whenever his name gets mentioned, reminds one of the Lollypop Guild soliciting a hooker on the side of the Yellow Brick Road… And then, there was Two Timing Booth, kicked out for…. oh my. Don’t even get me started on Bodenweiser…. And above all this mess, flies the green faced witch on her magic broom, saying 2014, 2014…..

What happened? Siegler, is this what happens when you put the NRA actually in charge of something?

From top to bottom this party is (I’ll bend over backwards and be very nice here)…. dysfunctional… It is time for it to go away….

I heard a caller put it very well on Al Masciti this morning. Business needs representation. With this party they don’t have it. What they do have is Jack Markell, Chip Flowers, and Beau Biden, working with them as well as representing “we the people” who simultaneously do the necessary work for these businesses as well as us who depend on their health to live well ourselves…..

Delaware works better as a single party state than as a two party one…. Why? Simply put, everyone is an individual again. There is no reason NOT to work with someone who’s viewpoint is different from yours… It is called “compromise” and with today’s Republican Party from the top down, that compromise gene is simply not in their chromosomes……

Now here is my argument… Any vote for any Republican, weakens our state. I’m guessing we need an 85/15 democratic majority to permanently make this party go away…. I’m worried that many in Delaware may not vote this time because our national election is a foregone conclusion, and really, there is no reason to suspect or worry that any Republican will win….

Here is why you must… Your vote against the Republican Party, is needed to make it be gone forever….. We need single party government now more than ever… WE need cooperation between workers and businesses, and only one party, the Democratic one, can provide that.

Some say we need another voice to balance out one party rule… We will have them. 21 separate voices in the Senate, and 45 separate ones in the House, but only if they are all Democrat … Every person is an individual, and every person has to represent their district. There are some conservative districts, there are some progressive districts. but it still will take a majority to get anything passed.

At least if there is only one party, they will get things done the old fashioned way. The conservatives will express their needs, the progressives will express their needs, and some type of compromise all can live with, will get hammered out….

That can’t happen if there are Republicans anywhere in government to mess things up…..

So do your civic duty… Vote Democratic or Libertarian, or any another candidate…. Just make Republicans go away…. I used to like watching cartoons on Saturday… Now, that I have to watch them 365 days at 24/7, it is too much…. (Now, where’s that Advil?)

Make them go away.

In our hearts, we are all campaign coordinators..  That’s why when other people are fixing their yards for the onslaught of Hurricane Sandy, we are reading poll results.  That’s why when our neighbors have picks down and paid for for Sunday’s games, we are mulling over the nuances of Sunday morning’s talk shows…  In our hearts, we are all campaign coordinators….

When looking back one of the most fascinating aspects that historians will see from this race, is that one of the candidate who is running in October, is a completely different individual from the one who  stood up on the Republicans stage back on August 11,2012  and raised his hands saying the deficit would be balanced solely on the cuts to necessary programs; not one penny from additional revenue.  In one appearance, at his first time on stage with the existing President, they will note we had an extreme conservative make himself into the more liberal of the two moderates on stage.

So if we assume this new Mitt Romney is for real,  we have to look at who he will be bringing into Washington with him.   Who are the people riding the Romney Express into Washington?

(This list was compiled from googling “dumb republican rape comments” …  And one important fact to consider, is… not a single one of these are complaining about Mitt Romney’s new Moderate stance.   Were they previously assured of something before the conversion took place?   Here is a short list ….

Akin, a congressman running for U.S. Senate in Missouri, said rape survivors don’t need abortions because “if it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

King, an Iowa congressman up for re-election, deflected a question about abortions for 12-year-old rape victims by saying, “I just haven’t heard of that being a circumstance that’s been brought to me in any personal way.”

Walsh, a House incumbent in Illinois, asserted that “with modern technology and science, you can’t find one instance” where abortion is necessary to protect a woman’s life or health. “There is no such exception as life of the mother,” Walsh concluded. “And as far as health of the mother, same thing.”

Mourdock, the Indiana state treasurer and Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, opined that “even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.”

Paul Ryan’s opposition to abortions for rape victims.

Abortion should be prohibited even in cases of sexual assault—is the party’s official position

12  Republican nominations for US Senate—went to candidates who would ban abortion even for survivors of sexual assault.

Ted Cruz, the former Republican solicitor general of Texas, also opposes a rape exception.

So does Pennsylvania nominee Tom Smith.

So does West Virginia nominee John Raese: “I will proudly stand against the destruction of innocent human life unless the life of the mother is in jeopardy.”

When Vermont Republican MacGovern was asked whether “a woman should be forced by the government to give birth to a rapist’s baby,” he answered: “I’ve always in my career and to this day been loyal to the principle of life. I’m pro-life. I’m profoundly pro-life. I’m pro-life to my core.”

Rep. Deb Fischer was pressed for her position on the Republican platform’s call for “a constitutional amendment banning all abortions with no exception for rape or incest.” She responded: “I am pro-life, and I believe in the sanctity of life. I do believe that there should be an exception made for the life of the mother. (not for rape?)

In Ohio, state treasurer Josh Mandel rejected a rape exception and declared, “I’ll do everything I can to protect innocent life.”

In Michigan, Rep. Pete Hoekstra was asked whether a woman should have to bear her rapist’s child. Hoekstra, who was already on record against a rape exception, replied: “I believe life is a gift.”

Wendy Long, a member of Romney’s Justice Advisory Committee, boasted during her primary that she was “100 percent pro-life,” whereas her opponents would grant “exceptions” to an abortion ban.

In Washington, state Sen. Michael Baumgartner admitted that “rape is a tragedy” but concluded: “I still believe life begins at conception. That is consistent with my Catholic beliefs. And I believe we must protect life.”

In North Dakota, a reporter asked Rep. Rick Berg: “You would not make an exception for rape?” Berg replied: “No.” The reporter asked about punishment for a woman who has such an abortion: “Should we put her in jail? Should we fine her?” Berg answered: “Those are things that need to be worked out through the legislative process.”

Three of the party’s candidates seem not to have addressed the rape question. Kevin Wade, the nominee in Delaware, has repeatedly said he opposes “taking human life.” Dan Bongino, the nominee in Maryland, opposes federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research and believes “life begins at conception and should be protected.” Kurt Bills, the nominee in Minnesota, reportedly sidestepped a rape question but opposes embryonic stem-cell research and boasts that he’s been a “co-author on every … anti abortion bill”

According to Slate, of the 28 nonincumbent nominees, 12 to 15 share the view of Akin, Mourdock, and the party platform. They believe a rape victim should be forbidden to terminate her pregnancy. This is no longer a fringe position..

Romney may be a moderate.  From June 13, 2011 to February 22nd, 2012, he got pummeled for it by all the other Republicans in every debate.  But Bush W also ran as a moderate.  But once in office, Bush W. didn’t run his agenda.  Those riding on his bus  did….

They thought he was nuts.

I spent lunch with Allan Loudell of WDEL and he has the best news currently in journalism and I know I heard at least twice…. on totally different story lines… “It’s just crazy…. ”

I know it was because I didn’t change the dial, but on my commute home I heard it again…. “It’s just crazy…” (The other thing Allan is prone to say, is just when you think it can’t get any crazier, you see the next story…)

I made me wonder what was going on….

See if you can guess.

A member of a certain party, says women can stop being pregnant if they want to.
Members of a certain party get naked and swim in the nude in front of another man’s daughter.
Members of a certain party won’t call on the first person to resign, until someone else does and then they give the press release calling on a certain member of a certain party .. to stop running for his Senate seat.
Members of a certain party, try to legalize rape, incest, and the death of the mother into a certain party’s platform.
Member of a certain party calls the President’s remarks Marxist, and then, when challenged by the news anchor, can’t say why, just that.. it is. it is…it just is.
A certain party wants the wealthy to pay NO TAXES and use the middle class to make up the difference.
A certain party candidate, will only release one single year’s tax return until 21 days before the election, when he will release his second one…
A certain party appears to be having their convention, quite possibly in the middle of a certified hurricane.
An entertainer who is a member of a certain party closes out the Iowa state fair with this…. “We’ve got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S. and we hate him!”
A certain party blames Obama for the poor economic climate they themselves totally created……

America, aren’t you tired of it? Don’t you just want to sit down to “normal”… for a change?

And did you happen to notice… all the craziness comes from just one party?

It’s like the drunk bitch at a party… Everyone is having a great time, and then from somewhere across the giant room, you hear… “you shit fucking bitch…” and you do what normally works, you go through the standard stages, of reasoning, of cajoling, of threatening, of being calm, of isolating, of arguing, of persuading, of putting the foot down… and finally… of ejection. No one at the party has now had a good time since she opened her mouth, because her aggressive meanness, even while everyone watches, even while everyone is shaking their heads, even while everyone is talkin’ about… it brings everyone down….

What we have in our society today, is the tiniest sliver taking over the news media with crazy incomprehensible actions… Consider them the 700 pounds of fat globules held in one place by taut skin, that takes over your health channel network for a half hour of programming, and though you hate it, you watch the whole episode anyway because it is too gross to walk away from…

For this, I blame the Republicans, but these, aren’t even close to the Republican neighbors I have… My neighbors are cool.. I blame the Republicans, but these aren’t even close to those I discourse with on our local blog network. .. those Republicans are cool… No, these really aren’t Republicans, even though I admit, I throw them into that category for expediency….

These are that drunk bitch. These are rare forms of mutant conservatives to whom no one every had the courage to tell them to “shut the fuck up and sit down”, and now, in exuberance of a campaign season where they feel uplifted with the infectious bubbles of being the center of attention, they truly believe that they are the embodiment of true enlightenment. Just like the drunk bitch, they really think they are the life of the party…

If you try to reason with them, you might be thinking you are getting somewhere, but instead they interpret it as justification that they are really, truly self important…. “Look I’m so cool this bouncer dude is reasoning with me..I’m so cool… I’m ready to rule the world….”

The only way to get rid of this type… is to eject them…
Eject them.
Eject them…

And while you are at it, eject the whole Republican party… too; you can’t leave the drunk bitch on the curb with no way home while the rest of the party goes on…

It’s just crazy….

I’m trying to put all your ideas together into one package. So, let me get this right… All you are asking is for, is a country where:

1) There is no universal healthcare.
2) Few entitlement programs.
3) Low Flat Tax System.
4) Faith based Government.
5) A deep reverence for God.
6) Extremely strict rules against abortion.
7) Marriage has already been strictly defined as between man and woman.
8) Homosexuality is a sin, and illegal.
9) Dress Codes are strictly enforced.
10) Tattoos, piercings, baggy pants, are banned.
11) Has the Death Penalty which they aren’t shy about using.
12) Strong private school system with religious focus.
13) Widespread dependency on oil and natural gas drilling.
14) Growing nuclear program
15) Nonexistent environmental nuisances
16) Culture that promotes family and stereotyped roles for men and women.

I’ve endeavored to put all your values on one page. I share your frustration because today, ever since 2008, it seems like America is moving further and further away from these values.

But you don’t have to be frustrated anymore. I have looked far and wide and have discovered a place already in existence that has those values in place, and more. If you sorely long for those values above, it is sincerely a place where you and your family would be very happy.

It is Iran.

You don’t have to pay me. I don’t need any commission. Just glad to help a fellow Delawarean out…. No problem.

The Wall Street Journal quotes Citibank’s executives are preparing their investors for the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!

Receiving what is known as the doomsday scenario, a two step reduction in it’s bond rating,  Citibank is going to cost it’s investors billions…

It will suck their money right out of their accounts and right into the trashcan…  If you are invested in Citibank, kiss all your money goodbye..

But wait?

What about the Dodd-Frank Finance Reform Bill?  Doesn’t that kick in or something?

What happens is that under the Dodd Finance Reform Bill, Citibank is required, because it’s ratings are much more risky now, to have a higher amount in reserves than it does if it has a very high rating….

That money, has to come out of its profits.

So profit will be short by …. $4.7 billion for the required additional collateral for its holding company and its banking subsidiary….

$4.7 billion.

But wait a minute you should say.  Isn’t that a good thing, at least much better than would have happened under Republican leadership just over 5 years ago?  Shouldn’t a bad bank HAVE to keep more money in reserves than a good bank, so the chance of it failing, are decreased from extremely likely to zero?

One would think.  Unless of course you are one of these people.  Michelle Bachmann, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, and Mitt Romney.  These six people believe the investors should get the $4.7 billion, and the federal government should bail out the banks when they fail…

This is what’s behind their opposition of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act.  The only reason one would oppose it, is because it protects the financial solubility of the institution, instead of the investor.

If a bank fails and we lose our money, that is just too bad in their eyes.  But for them to lose their money, is unthinkable.

Yes, they are indeed ridiculous.

So in reality, thanks in part to the leadership of Michael Kaufman from Delaware,  when a bank engages risky behavior, it must put more into its reserves, taking it away from the investors.

This is only fair.  For when things get in order, and reserves can be dropped again, it is only the investors who get that bonus in one fell sweep.

So we can see in a nutshell, why when it comes to economic issues, we cannot let Republicans again have the reins of power…  They would dismantle this reform, just like they dismantled the original protections put in place since the 1930’s, and that dismantling, was  the sole cause of the meltdown that put all those American’s out of work…

So things are working as they should.  The bank was risky, and now  must pay the penalty.   What’s nice about having Democrats in charge, is that the penalty they payed, was to themselves….

Democrats are intelligent.

The Republican primaries show the last bastion of conservative social values. since it’s high point in 2004, which just hinged on a few contested votes in Ohio, the Conservatives have lost favor.

They lost the congressionals of 2006. They lost huge in 2008, as massive amounts of voters voting for the first time, went the other way. They ran on jobs and won a few seats in 2010. But when they shut down the government in 2011 over funding planned parenthood, the country realized what they’d gotten.

It seems like the best way to eliminate conservatives from government, is to put them in power for two years. They act worse than Democrats.

Rick Santorum carries the banner of old fashioned conservatives. He is losing. So the obvious hits us in the face. If the Conservative Party is rejecting Conservatives en masse, then that movement is dead. Put another way, if the extreme faction of the extreme party, is rejecting Conservatism, it is a dead entity for the majority of America…

Rick Santorum cannot give up. If he does, the evangelicals, the family values faction, and the tax cutters, will be laughed out of the Republican Party. Republicans will turn to them and say: “you lost the election for us! Get the fuck out of our party!”

Democrats had to do that with the communists and socialists in the 40’s. Their views were a little too extreme for the mainstream, and those parties still carried their banner, and met on college campuses, but never won any clout with the majority of American voters. Democrats however, because they expelled the communists and socialists back in the 40’s, went on to dominate Congress if not the Oval Office, for 60 some years….

Bottom line, if you are a conservative, Santorum is your last battle. This is your King’s Mountain, where everything is on the line.. This is when you need to flush out the hills to gather an army. This is when you need your most outstanding leaders to devise a plan to use your own weaknesses to your advantage…. If you are at all religious, and believe God is part of government, this is your last chance. Get behind Santorum Now.

If you don’t win Pennsylvania, the cause is dead… Not only dead, but a joke. Imagine showing your face in public the day after Santorum loses to (who? are you serious) Mitt Romney in his HOME STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA?

Ha, Ha your friends, enemies and acquaintances will say to your face… Ha, ha… You’re cause and everything you believe in, IS SO WRONG, that even your leader, cannot carry his own state against ….. the weakest candidate the Republicans have ever had to choose?

If you lose Pennsylvania, it will be the requirement of every newspaper, every radio DJ, every media outlet and respectable blogger, to say: conservatism is just a splinter organization, a cult like Koresch’s, a loner movement like Timothy McVeigh. These cannot be listened to or have their message propagated by us… It must be ignored, just like those communists who wore Mao on their lapels…. In college, they couldn’t even get a date…..

It is not too late. Santorum needs to think outside the box. Rick needs to bring on Newt as his Vice President. That act should jar conservatives to wake up, and realize the end of conservatism is near. That act, coupled with both working together to keep conservatism, a dream forged in the night of wishful thinking, from losing its warm, glowing feeling in the bright sun of the real world……

If Pennsylvania does not go for Santorum, Conservatism is A JOKE!!!

Rick Santorum may now take the place of “Chairman Mao” on college campuses…….

“If Romney becomes the party’s nominee, you are better off with Obama….. ” Rick Santorum.

I take back all the bad stuff I ever said about him….
