They support Donald Trump…
Which either means they don’t believe anything Donald Trumps says, or they don’t care about anything Donald Trump says, or they don’t understand anything Donald Trump says, or they are misleading the Delawarean public for unknown reasons….
This should raise giant flags… as if someone were supportive of Hitler… When you are a Republican and you don’t call out the leader of your party for what he is, you are a supporter of all he stands for…
It is not different from wearing a red arm band with a swastika in a white circle in Germany in 1932… No one has to ask you if you support Hitler back then, it was rightly assumed.
If you do not come out public and declare Trump unfit for office, as a Republican it means you support him… Flat out, unequivocally…
Even though you know the person privately does not support Trump because you’ve known and liked them for years, the very fact that they did not publicly come out and say “Vote for me; I do not support Trump” means they are not fit for office… :
Look at who they are silent about….
How do you stay silent? How do you vote for this person? How do you not create distance between yourself and this “thing” at the top of your ticket?
Do you think it will go away, if you ignore it? If you say nothing? If you keep your head down and focus just on yourself?
No, you ARE Republican. You are wearing that red armband with a big red R in a white circle. This is who you are, unless you step out and say with a loud voice you do not support this “thing” and you are totally against anything he does. Silence is complicitness.
As voters we can do something about this…. we can compare the Republicans on our ballot (go to this Department of Elections website, put in your address to see the actual ballot at your polling place, it’s cool) to this list below and vote for their opponent… No matter who it is…
Yes, of course there are Confederate flag waving Trump extremists out there; but they are a very tiny minority. We know he won’t win but that does not mean we too should accept these things as “part of life” and continue to put in those who silently supported that “thing” by remaining silent… Humanity across the globe is counting on all of you to vote against these listed below…. who by being cowards and not withdrawing their support, imply they silently stand solid on all that Donald Trump stands for….

None of these should get into office. None.
Lip service is one thing. Actions are something else. All of the above at this late date are still supportive of Donald Trump and what he stands for….
Sadly these are all the Republicans running for state office, but two… I must isolate and mention both of those two and encourage you to vote them in over their Democrat opponents (no loss there in both seats) to show the world that Delaware is not a satellite of Donald Trump….
These two very special people, the only two Delawarean Republicans who have repudiated history’s worst candidate, Donald Trump, are:
Meredith Chapman Senate District 8
James Spadola Senate District 1
Stumbled across this and thought it deserves being passed on because ultimately YOU are the solution (and not each candidate in who it appears must lie because that is the only way they can possibly be taken seriously enough to win… )
Knowledge is power and when you know how YOU think, you can sometimes second guess yourself out of making those wrong decisions which your first instinct is to jump into with both feet…
So why do they lie? Those of us who have made the Internet their home must wonder over the audacity or ignorance of these upstarts who think their lies simply will go unchecked forever… So why then would they lie and why would anyone follow someone who lies so much?
According to one human scientist, Jim Taylor (Phd), there are many reasons and here briefly are the top six.
Many politicians are narcissists. … Most would agree. “Narcissists are arrogant, self-important, see themselves as special, require excessive admiration, have a sense of entitlement, and are exploitative, ” which, like it or not, causes them to believe that they are right and, even if they are not, they think they’re too smart to be ensnared inside any consequences.
Politicians know their followers will believe them, even in the face of irrefutable evidence to the contrary. Here, Facebook, blogs, and journalistic comment sections have certainly confirmed this to be true. One reading through their comment streams can readily see how supporters flat out refuse to look at any evidence remotely throwing shade upon their candidate.
People don’t want to hear the truth… “no one wants to hear things that threaten their existence, their beliefs, or that will make them uncomfortable. It is decidedly better for politicians to tell people what makes them feel comfortable. Why should politicians be the purveyors of bad news (and decrease the likelihood of getting people’s votes) when they can tell fairy tales with happy endings (which, of course, everyone wants) and come out the victor.” When ones entire livelihood depends solely on people liking you more than they do someone else, deliberately putting salt in someone’s wound is not a good technique for self survival..
The Internet never forgets. We tell this to our children to keep them from posting images they later regret. But that adage cuts both ways… Whereas the truth is always out there when you do wrong, so are those lies always following you close each time you do right. Unlike human reasoning, nothing ever gets settled on the Internet…Someone can stumble across and false flag without seeing all the evidence pointing it out as such, and BAM! That controversy starts all over again; it’s become the 21st Century equivalent of a “sucker being born every minute…”
Cognitive biases. “The human mind engages in many cognitive tricks to help people be more efficient, reduce confusion and anxiety, and keep life simple and coherent”. Across our evolutionary survival we developed the overall tendency to reinforce what we perceived as having always worked for us, instead of rushing down every new alternative path opening up our way. The very valid fact that we are still here as a species, is pretty damning evidence to its effectiveness…
If a lie is told enough times, people will assume it is true. “People expect that lies will be disproved and fade away. So if the lies continue to be heard (over and over and over) people assume they must be true.” “If there is smoke, there must be fire” Prior to the technical age, there were physical limits on a lie’s speed and reach. One could only talk to a limited number of impressionable people per day… and often many would retort back with contrary evidence dispelling the lie immediately upon its hearing. Now, lies reach millions in a second, drowning out those individual replies dispelling them. Checking out each statement’s validity has become tediously time consuming, during which multiple repetitions of the same lie continue, making its effectiveness all the more believable…

With knowledge now stored as 1’s and 0’s we enter a new age in which our age old defenses against mis-information are no longer valid. Hence charts like that at the top of this post become very important… All it means is that “someone” out there checked and rated each of these candidates on issues ranging from “truth” to “pants on fire”…. and made this determination… something we are no longer capable of doing ourselves.
As always, your best bet is to go with those who won’t steer you wrong… That is lesson true in life, as it is in politics….
Delaware’s Unions, particularly the Building and Trades, have over-stepped. In a world where the one percent owns 45% of America’s assets, where billions are being spent to destroy unions in every capacity, where the middle class has succumbed to its worst level since 1880, the rat-demon that the Building and Trades chose to blacken, was Delaware’s biggest friend of labor, John Kowalko.
There is something very sick in Delaware’s unions… That this was ever allowed shows complicity with the 1%.
The only people hurt by not putting the power plant inside the University of Delaware, were those investors who spent $800,000 and got nothing. It would be safe to say none of them were of the 99%. When something else goes in, those jobs will be there as well. Labor did not lose one job…
Instead, we just got further proof that in Delaware, labor has been coerced, infiltrated, and is being run by the 1%… No normal working man would want to poison 30,000 people into cancer by his efforts. We all know the 1% have no qualms with killing people as long as they make over 5%…..
Organized labor is no longer working for its members. Whether it is the DSEA, AFSCME, or the Building Trades, the lack of new jobs here in Delaware is due to only one thing. Their coziness with those with money… the big 5 developers and their friend, the governor.
I know the details of why there is a history behind it this coziness.. But there was also a history behind Colonial America and Great Britain… But at some point a split had to occur.
When you have Quisling leaders telling their members that “yeah, they are doing everything they can”, and at the same time telling the Delaware Way that they “got their people handled”, it is their members who are getting royally screwed…..
It is past time to scrap old leaders. It is past time for new aggressive leadership, someone in their 30’s.. It is time for work stoppages again. It is time for muscle… When you have our ex-heroes, “organized labor”, those who built the America we had (at least up through 2000), attacking their most ardent legislative supporter in the General Assembly because he wouldn’t go along and maliciously kill 30,000 of his constituents with cancer, you have a corrupt and poorly lead organization…. They are not working for their members; they are working for Charlie Copeland!
I hereby pull my support for prevailing wage…. and urge John Kowalko and every legislator elected from the Greater Newark Area up through Hockessin to do so as well. …
Until unions get new aggressive leadership who will daringly take on the Delaware Way and grind it up and crush it, forget it, I won’t reconsider.
This will be a brief teaser for labor day… Why, is the middle class (labor) suffering so much today…..
US Corporations get around the US’s high tax rate of 35% by stashing money offshore. The average corporation pays 12.6% according to the GAO in 2010…. This means that half of America’s corporations pay higher, and half of America’s corporations pay lower… HALF OF AMERICA’S CORPORATIONS PAY LOWER THAN 12.6%? REALLY?
During America’s boom times, when the middle class was almost guaranteed a job for life with a pension plan and a gold watch, corporate taxes were set as high as 52.8 percent. Later rates were lowered to 48 percent and then 46 percent. It was only after 1986 when they were lowered to 35% that the middle class problem begin to emerge….
Across history there is a direct relationship between higher taxes and higher wages… When tax rates are high, wage rates are high. When tax rates are low, wage rates are low. (As an additional benefit, the higher the taxes, the higher the employment level goes as well.) In fact there is such public good in charging the wealthy higher taxes with no downside, that is is literally amazing we aren’t doing it. Everyone benefits out the gazoo!)
The way America’s corporations get around this 35% rate, is by stashing cash abroad. There is $2 trillion of America’s money kept overseas, and not brought home to keep it from being taxed… You pay taxes. I pay taxes, yet corporations think they shouldn’t… How fair is that?
Keep in mind. This is by their own volition. They are not forced to keep that money offshore. They could bring it back anytime they wished. They choose not to do so… And that money is what funds campaigns for cutting taxes. That money is what buys both Democrat and Republican allegiance to no-tax pledges. I would bet that some of that foreign money is in Tom Carper’s, Chris Coons’, and John Carney’s campaign slush funds right now..
$2 trillion at 35% is $700 billion that should have already been in our treasury… That is money we borrowed unnecessarily to cover our expenses which if a proper administration had been in the executive branch would have already been there, from corporations… The balance, $1.3 trillion would have then been available here and could have been invested in our nation in the form of jobs…
There was some discussion, primarily from Michelle Bachmann, as to give a blanket amnesty on these taxes to get this money back, But that is like saying you won’t prosecute a bank robber if he comes back and spends his money in your home town… What bank will he rob next? And what about all those people who had their money stolen from them? Michelle and her Republican cohorts seem not to care.
So why are corporations really renouncing their “citizenship?” Simple answer, is they are doing this so they can pocket hoards of “deferred” offshore profits without ever paying the taxes they owe on these profits….
Dave Johnson explains. “Here is how the deferral scam works. An American company sets up a non-U.S. “subsidiary” in a tax haven. That non-U.S. company gets or produces goods, services, patents, whatever, at a low price. (This often involves shifting paper (and copyrights, patents) around to make it look like profits are not made in the U.S., but in too many cases this means the U.S. company actually moves U.S. jobs, factories, production, call centers and other assets out of the country.) The subsidiary sells to the U.S. company at a high price. Most or all of the profit is therefore made by the non-U.S. subsidiary, so the profits are considered to be non-U.S. and taxes on those profits are “deferred.” This still counts as profits for the U.S. owner of that subsidiary, but the U.S. company does not have to pay taxes (they are “deferred”) until they “bring the profit home.””
These corporations see that if they renounce their citizenship before the U.S. fixes this loophole, they can just keep the money….
But does this money REALLY stay offshore??? As you would certainly expect, of course not…. The non-U.S. subsidiary company “loans” money to the U.S. parent. So all of the non-U.S. cash actually is available to the U.S. parent. But wait, there’s more. The U.S. parent pays interest to the subsidiary, which is deducted from taxes and reduces the U.S. tax bill even more. ..
If complicated, it isn’t. I hire you as my buddy in crime. I give you all my money… I say, look, I’m broke, I can’t pay any taxes! You lend me my money back to me… I spend it tax free and the money I do make, I write off as interest I give back to you… So I keep everything I make here … No taxes…
Ways to fight this… very important on this Labor Day…
A. Hold Democrats accountable. Don’t let them (Tom Carper, Chris Coons, John Carney) get away with helping corporations rob the American workers, who do pay all their taxes and who are subsidizing these corporations money-making schemes.
B. Support proposals by President Obama to use executive action to stop “income stripping” and to keep “inverted” companies from getting government contracts
C. Support the Stop Corporate Inversions Act of 2014 in the Congress… Obviously obstructed by Republicans.
D. Support a proposal to tax companies based on their percentage of sales that occur in the U.S.,..
One must wonder, why is this even in the tax code? The reason is so U.S. companies can use “offshore” profits to invest in growth. This is a win-win because we want U.S. companies to do well, and because the U.S. is supposed to benefit when profits are brought home and taxes are paid….
A very simple way to fight abuse of deferral is to charge a fee of, say, 7 percent a year on all deferred profits. The full amount of taxes is to still be paid when profits are finally brought home, but we collect an additional 7 percent a year until they are….
So enjoy your Labor Day. We’ve got some real work to begin tomorrow…..
It’s been six months since the greatest debacle ever experienced by a civilized human being, has taken place…. The Republican Party of the United States of America, fully endorsed by Charlie Copeland here in good old Delaware, shut down the Federal government over the repeal of Obamacare . Only those close to the story knew over what they were protesting….
Here is why the Republicans closed down your government, put 700,000 government workers on furlough, and cost the economy $24 billion dollars…. They did it because:
A. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to get free preventative care… No co-pay for flu shots, HIV screenings, prostate exams, colonoscopies, mammograms……
B. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to benefit from new requirements forcing insurance companies tospend at least 80% of our premium dollars on our health care , or refund us back our money…..
C. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to benefit from new requirements that insurance companies publicly justify their actions if they want to raise premiums by 10% or more…
D. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to benefit from knowing that our insurance can now never be capped or canceled at the whim of insurance companies.
E. They didn’t want 105 million Americans to no longer have lifetime expense caps, either through chronic disease, or corporate restrictions.
F. They didn’t want depending on which survey you read, 50 to 129 million Americans to benefit from the Obamacare provision that eliminates all bars for coverage based on pre-existing conditions..
G. They didn’t want those 49.4 million American current Medicare enrollees to under Obamacare now feel secure knowing that existing Medicare benefits can neither be reduced nor taken away.
H. They didn’t want 6.1 million Americans with Medicare Part D to no longer have to go through the “doughnut hole” coverage gap.
I. They didn’t want 4.4 million low-income adults to now have access to health insurance thanks to states implementing the expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare….
J. .They didn’t want 3.2 million main street American small businesses to be eligible for tax credits for providing health insurance to their 19.3 million employees nationwide…
K. They didn’t want 3.1 million of America’s young adults to get coverage because of the provision in Obamacare that allows them to stay on their parents’ insurance plans until age 26….
They wanted none of the above… When like a terrible two year old, they couldn’t get their way, they furloughed 700,000 Americans for a combined total of 6.6 million days, shut down the National Parks and Monuments thereby damaging local communities, closed down the NIH and CDC, stymied essential permits and necessary reviews, stopped import and export licenses thereby freezing trade, froze all Federal money earmarked for small businesses, homeowners, and families in rural communities, disrupted loans because banks and lenders could not access the Federal database, delayed $4 billion in tax refunds to American consumers, prevented all food and water from being inspected, prevented all train and plane accidents from being inspected, stopped critical defense and other non defense research, and cost 120,000 jobs from being created those two weeks in October….. It was just 6 months ago….
All of that…. just so you would not receive any of the above benefits from Obamacare….Oh, my, tsk, tsk.
This is election year… Still not fired up? So what’s your real reason? Got rocks in your head?
Ever had something smell so bad, you just stay away from everything associated with it? Like a likable girl at work, who just one times farts the most horrible obnoxious smell, and you choose never to see her again? You’re not mean. You just throw up in your mouth at the Pavlovian response to seeing her image.
Well, even though almost no one has been paying attention, Darrell Issa in his House hearings on the IRS scandal, has refused to release the transcripts of his interviews regarding the IRS scandal, and has instead, only released readjusted transcripts that point to a giant arm of government reaching across state lines to investigate right wing conservatives….
Instead of shedding light on what actually happened, Issa is trying to manage the release of information to form a narrative that the activities were politically motivated, and driven from the highest levels of the Obama administration….
Well enough was enough.. Democratic Elijah Cummings called Issa’s bluff and released the full transcripts. Here is the release in two…. parts…. . Issa was lying. Caught in the act, he has painted the Republican party again with the same portrait it carried last year: it lies about every single thing…
America is sick of lies. That is why Republicans, even good ones, can’t get traction among the American people… Their leaders are so odious, no one even wants to push a button listed next to a name in the Republican column… They throw up in their mouth at just hearing the word… Republican…. UUUgggpPPP splish, splop, splap….
Republicans always hated the press. The press tells the truth and truth is the anathema to Republican politics.
So when the Democrats after the War on Terror was over. proposed to curtail some of the stringent powers which the Federal Government held over the press, the Republicans naturally refused. “We can’t have that”, they screamed. “National Security.” What they were truly concerned about was their own political security. A press that was not intimidated by them, could do their party harm…
The Democrats countered with this: … ‘but when it’s a Democratic President who is intimidating a Republican Press, you’ll come to your senses then”….
Lindsey Graham, the Republican icon from South Carolina, is proposing that we now pass the law he was previously against…. It protects journalists from being investigated…. For you see, now Fox news was investigated, in his mind that changes things.
Our press, for better or worse, is a big part of the people’s hold over their government. A press needs to be free to publish what it will, and let then public debate determine whether or not it has merit. For example. All three of these current scandals do not involve illegality. All three were accomplished completely within the law. It is because we have the press, we can know this.
At first one side publishes the accusations. This person is guilty their headlines scream, and to a point when only one side is allowed to offer up arguments, it sort of does look like that person is guilty… But then the other side dug up stuff too. What they found were only the current accusations, with nothing substantial to back them. Simple posturing, finger pointing, and nothing else. No crimes were committed. In fact, all the alleged activities were sanctioned by law. If one didn’t do what one was accused of, one could have gone to jail for probably breaking the existing law…..
It is just that now that Republicans aren’t the ones in power, they don’t like the actual existing law, Even though it was them, who passed and enforced it back when they held the White House and both branches of Congress, even over the democrat’s vocal opposition..
So, now that the Democratic prediction has come true, Republicans are coming on board.
And if it protects the press and allows them to print the news, America ultimately in the end, prospers. And that is a good thing….
So if you see a republican walking down the street, laugh hysterically at their stupidness, pettiness, and inability to think outside their box… Roll on the sidewalk clutching your sides, point at them the whole times… Get your friends to do the same…..
Then thank them, for finally coming to their senses, realizing Democrats were right all along, and jumping on the bandwagon of Democratic policy, to do their part and help make America a much better place….
