HB 50 simply allows parents to opt out… If a parent wants his child to take the Smarter Balanced Assessment, he can have his child take the Smarter Balanced Assessment. If a parent wants his child to opt out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment, he can have his child opt out of the Smarter Balanced Assessment…. These 13 have never ever strayed far from any of jack’s preferred pieces of legislation… His threat of veto was aimed at these 13 to hold firm, no matter what their constituents want or said. These 13 are the governor’s pocket votes. Life should be very interesting for them across the next four days.
Essentially these 13 are siding with the lobbyists and corporations against parents… They feel corporations know best.. whereas parents don’t know jack….

Love the Dover State Reps! We just need 39 more of you! Kavips, I don’t think the normal rules apply for HB50. This one is VERY unique. We will find out Thursday from what I’m hearing. I’m sure the Governor will be making his rounds this week, but I’ve met Sean and Trey several times, and I know they are firm on this.

The Governor and his folks are trying to make HB 50 something it’s not. Mr. Paradee and Mr.. Lynn appear to understand what it is actually about, a parents right. Though they both may wish it hadn’t come to this (I don’t actually know that), they see it for what it is, not what it is not. That’s a good thing. Parents are voters. Parents have rights. Affirming our rights seems like a good play here.
