Thanks to Rick Bayard, our state deficit will be $55 million more in the hole. Here is the list of those legislators who put the interests of their friends, the lobbyists, above and beyond the interests of the regular people working in our state… Ironically some of the biggest critics of the 8% rollback of wages, also voted against obtaining $55 million dollars worth of revenue which could have assisted and possibly prevented some of those roll backs.

Each one of the “No’s ” voted to kill the bill strictly because the Racino owners wanted even more money from the commissions off of sports betting, than the bill would give them….
These legislators listed above, believe wealthy race owners deserved millions of dollars more than those hard working Delawareans who will now have to make up the difference in increased taxes and fees… the cost of $110 extra dollars for every working Delawarean… Just so Racino owners can make an additional $55 million over the millions they make already.
It is a travesty when members of certain party do not have the state’s interest at heart, and prefer to take care of lobbyists than either you or me..
This is what they did, and that: is who they are….

Two votes short. This poor-widdle racino crap is boiling my blood.
Oberle had to recuse so I don’t think he belongs on this list…on the other hand, who in the Assembly has kin folk employed at the Big Three that voted against this measure?

kavips the Governor’s casino legislation is a totally separate issue from the Governor’s 8% state employee pay cut. Those two budget proposals were NOT an “either/or” scenario.

Maria, I know that. But because of something called the “budget” they are all interrelated. 🙂

And Nancy, I too debated whether or not to include Oberle who had a valid reason for abstaining (ie. his vote could have compromised the politics behind the entire arrangement ), but in the end, decided just to pull out those who voted yes and leave the remainder here for public viewing. Doing that, may give him the opportunity to explain why he recused himself quicker than he could otherwise, so that he does not suffer the negative connotation the others will suffer who have voted no…..

kavips, exactly, “the budget”. Markell proposed his budget in March. His proposal included an expansion of gambling AND an 8% state employee pay cut.
It was not worded as an expansion of gambling OR an 8% state employee pay cut.
The only reason these two budget proposals are being “interrelated” now is because the Administration desperately wants to blame someone else for the 8% across the board state employee pay cut the Administration itself proposed.

Rebuild the Delaware GOP
A total blunder by the Markell Administration, plain and simple.
I guess this scenario was not in his book and numerous glossy handouts last year.
For the record I supported sports gaming and thought the money should have been dedicated to implementing Vision 2015.

Maria, it appears that you are reading more into what I posted, than I do. Both planks were part of his proposed budget as you suggest.
In a previous post I oulined that he was seeking $155 million in payroll cuts and $55 million in increased revenues from sports betting.
That would imply the two were seperate, as you suggest. Perhaps what is confusing to you is my mention that if the $55 million does not go through, another source of revenue must be cut to compensate for that amount. That extra amount could be state employees. Likewise, if the $55 million did go through, it could be probable that some of that could be used to fund employees who would have otherwise, lost their jobs..
As always, thank you for bringing up the clarification.

kavips so the Governor is going to hold a hatchet to state employee pay every time he doesn’t get the legislation he wants passed? What a guy.
Has the Governor stopped to read his campaign book lately, maybe he can pick a few tips up from that.

Maria, he is quite a guy…
Even Dave Burris says so.

How do you feel today, kavips, now that the Governor finally included the Minority caucus in the negotiations and a BETTER potential outcome, while bringing the same projections (in other words, the projections are the same, but the potential is higher)? In case you didn’t notice, not a whole lot of people thought this really was a done deal, except for Markell, we guess, because that’s what he said, but when push came to shove, he and McGonigal sat with all legislators and PRESTO a better deal, that still pisses off the lobby.
THAT’s what I think of my boy…oh and many state locals, too. Thanks.
Can you remove your darts now?
