We knew this but it is now being published… and so it is in the news.
The world is getting warmer… and we can now predict our climate by looking at map at 300 miles south and guessing what our weather will be from that…
Just as plate tectonics and Darwin’s origin of the species were able to lay the groundwork of reason for explaining puzzling observations, this simplifies what to expect from global warming rather startlingly.
Texas is now what we alway thought of when we considered the weather of Mexico; Oklahoma is now West Texas; Kansas is now Oklahoma; Nebraska is now Kansas; South Dakota is now Nebraska, North Dakota is now South Dakota: Southern Manitoba is now North Dakota…..
If West Texas had 3 days of rain, now Oklahoma is getting 3 days of rain; If it snowed 12 times in South Dakota, it is now doing the same in North Dakota… and so on.
So, to predict our heat, rain, winters, etc, our guide would be North Carolina. Longer growing seasons, some winters with no snow, hot summers…
However due to Global warming, the East Coast has a caveat. An anomaly so to speak and actually some relief from the North Carolina summer heat we would normally expect….
With the unprecedented melting of the Arctic and Greenland icecaps dumping its excess into the Labrador Current, that cold water drops South hugging the East Coast shoreline all the way down to North Carolina’s Outer Banks where it finally becomes neutralized… Therefore even though we have hotter air masses, the colder ocean temperatures creates a buffer against Global warming off the entire northeastern US.
Europe, Japan, and Alaska all experience the same mitigating effect, although with both Greenland and the Arctic Icecaps melting into the Labrador, the US East Coast gets a stronger volume of cold water. Call it our icy shower effect….
Once melting stops and the currents dry up, we return to the North Carolina scenario of the twentieth century….

So, we in Delaware really get the best climate on the East Coast. Warm winters, little or no snow, and cool breezy summers….. as well as a longer growing period, and… less dependence on fossil fuels for winter heating.
Gee, global warming isn’t so bad for Delaware after all…. Oh, the rising seas? There you go again… Why did you have to spoil the rosy picture I was painting?
This is post number 2000.
The only real significance is it is 150 posts more than where Tommywonk stopped exactly one year and fifteen days ago…
If some future historian looks back, I can only guess they may kindly make some note of the quality of thought that underlies these efforts, but my guess, is no one will ever notice…
Irregardless, as long as the urge to put thoughts down for others continues, we will go on. As usual, with no goal, no direction, and no ulterior motive. Probably upon reflection, my biggest surprise, right here, right now … is that I still enjoy it so much, and can’t wait to jot my thoughts down, click the button, and send them off to where ever cyberspace and the vast internet ocean, lets them drift….
For each of you who have become regular over the years, … thank you friend…
Jockstrap….
I just couldn’t help but notice he supports almost every Johnson. (Even ones with Swiss spellings… Johansen ….)
Lol…

It is funny how so much time and effort is spent determining who will run on the Republican side of the Presidential race, when that whole contest is made meaningless by this one chart…..
Republicans don’t want you to see this chart. Democrats simply lack the capacity to understand what it means…..
It means that if you want efficiency, then lowering taxes is good. That creates efficiency. But if you want jobs, then raising taxes is good, because that creates jobs…
The standard Republican argument against this: “That is bunk. Everyone knows cutting taxes grows jobs….” (end of argument).
What never gets done, except in the bottom comment sections of well meaning blogs, is the proper rebuttal….
If that is bunk, explain how and why history itself proves it otherwise?
And alas, they cannot answer that, because they are wrong… Low taxes do not create jobs. Higher taxes do….
Look for yourself.
“I’m starting to think we really ticked off Mother Nature somehow, because we’ve been getting spanked by her for about a year now,” he said while grabbing some coffee at a convenience store…..
OF COURSE YOU DID, DUMMY. YOU VOTED FOR REPUBLICANS!
Reading a recent old copy of the News Journal, I saw an article where some Republican buffoon, said something like: “yeah, we’re gonna stick it to Chris Coons that he’s a tax and spend Democrat.”
I laughed out loud…
Go ahead … Make us draw attention to you..
Something weird happened. Just after sports betting lost in the Delaware House of Representatives by two votes, it cleared the House on its second vote, and sailed through the Senate despite all attempts by Marie Evans to derail it… (lol, don’t take me too seriously…she does have pretty eyes)
The so called Delaware Way was firmly planted in the camp of the Racino operators. ( By Delaware Way, I do not mean Nancy’s blog… again another lol)… The Racino operators not only lost, but by this event have been forever removed from having the word “credible entity” further associated alongside their name…
WDEL, especially both Al Mascitti and Rick Jensen, deserve immense credit for portraying the Racino operators for the spoiled bitches they are… Facts are facts, and unlike the News Journal who tried to white wash the despicable greed every Racino operator was holding out for, these two individuals slammed their reputations over and over in the public’s mind, turning this select group into the last years “Harris McDowell”… They use truth and real facts to do it..
And once again, Tony DeLuca proved adept at picking the winning side. His insider dealing which hopefully will remain a secret (as should be the case when exercised masterfully), proved adept at creating a landslide, which will be a requirement necessary to show our state’s public support, should legal impediments be thrown down by CBS, the NFL, and NCAA, and other television networks.. The overwhelming support shown by both Delaware’s House and Senate, now pulls out the rug from underneath CBS’s case, giving Constitutional credibility to the stature, which will now probably never go, or if it does, ever come out of…. court..
Ed Sutor, CEO of Dover Downs, sounded dejected after the vote.
And surprisingly, a special hats off for getting this done, belongs to AFSCME who serendipitously scheduled their demonstration against Jack’s 8% cut, on the very day after the first vote to defeat sports betting took place. The shock of seeing the visual of the public’s seething hatred, the passionate outcry of their horrific rage, the violent animosity focused with a laser pointer directly on those few objecting to the injection of $50 million into the state coffers, just a hundred feet away from legislative hall, shook up several old time legislators who always thought that no one paid any attention to how they voted…
But mostly the credit goes to bloggers. They told the story. While the News Journal tried it’s whitewash, the bloggers held back no punches.. It is not so much that a large number read Delaware’s blogs; It’s that a large number of those who actually matter… do… No one, who is not up on what is being said in blog world, is credible in today’s world… That is a fact of life, and politics.
The News Journal tried to follow the corporate angle. They are, after all, a corporation… And here is the sea change happening now across this country.. The corporate strategy, cannot offend advertisers…If you are unwilling to offend advertisers, you are boring. And if you are boring, who in hell is going to pay money to read your tripe?
In the olden days, almost all newspapers were owned by families.. The family did what it thought it should… If something local was newsworthy, it was dug in depth, and the guts were exposed for all to see.. People pay good money to see guts spilled…
Bloggers have taken over that function.. Free from the constraints of a filtering “bored” of directors, solely in charge of maximizing profits, they can tell news as it happens.. For instance, they can stay at a rally, and not just get out of their car, talk to two people, and then head back home thinking they had written a definitive story…
What’s sad? Is it would have been the definitive story, had bloggers not also been there to show them up…
(Since that episode, their coverage has improved…) Thank you very much for learning quickly.
Bottom line, new revenue is headed towards balancing our budget, And as an added bonus, our governor was on ESPN; which means already he has had more people viewing him photo-electronically, than our neighboring governor Ed Randell ever has, even from all his appearances on the Chris Matthews show..
Thanks to Rick Bayard, our state deficit will be $55 million more in the hole. Here is the list of those legislators who put the interests of their friends, the lobbyists, above and beyond the interests of the regular people working in our state… Ironically some of the biggest critics of the 8% rollback of wages, also voted against obtaining $55 million dollars worth of revenue which could have assisted and possibly prevented some of those roll backs.

Each one of the “No’s ” voted to kill the bill strictly because the Racino owners wanted even more money from the commissions off of sports betting, than the bill would give them….
These legislators listed above, believe wealthy race owners deserved millions of dollars more than those hard working Delawareans who will now have to make up the difference in increased taxes and fees… the cost of $110 extra dollars for every working Delawarean… Just so Racino owners can make an additional $55 million over the millions they make already.
It is a travesty when members of certain party do not have the state’s interest at heart, and prefer to take care of lobbyists than either you or me..
This is what they did, and that: is who they are….
