AFTER 12 YEARS OF HIGH STAKES TESTING THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT ANY OF THESE TESTS HAVE HELPED EVEN ONE STUDENT.
They have been used to close schools.
AFTER 12 YEARS OF HIGH STAKES TESTING THERE IS NOT EVIDENCE THAT ACHIEVEMENT GAPS HAVE CLOSED. With the new tests, they’ve gotten even wider.
High states testing has fed racial determinism and has closed doors of opportunity to black and brown children….
AFTER 12 YEARS OF HIGH STAKES TESTING THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT ARBITRARILY RAISING THE BAR ON THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS, RAISES THE BAR ON ANYONE’S PERFORMANCE.
in fact: the effect is exactly the opposite… Like any adult, when things become overwhelmingly impossible, they give up.
AFTER 12 YEARS OF HIGH STAKES TESTING THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT CLASSIFYING A CHILD AS A ONE, TWO, THREE, OR FOUR, HELPS ANY CHILD.
Children can’t speak out. Teachers can’t speak out. This responsibility falls flat on parents to opt out their children.
Parents have two options….
Opt their child out… send a letter saying nothing more than that you don’t want your child to take the Smarter Balanced Assessments this year... The Federal Government, State Government, and local School Districts have all affirmed it is your right to do so….
Call your legislator out on his incompetence: This has been debated for years and they are the problem things are not going forward fast enough … Particularly if you are in one of these three districts, blister them.
Earl Jacques: Representative 27th District –Glasgow: Controls the agenda of the House Educational Committee and has refused to let current bills go forward which give parents basic rights to their child.
Dave Sokola: Senate 6th District — West Newark to Hockessin: Controls the agenda of the Senate Educational Committee and has refused to let current bills go forward which give parents basic rights to their child.
Pete Schwartzkopf? Representative 14th District — Rehoboth: Controls the agenda of the entire House of Delegates and has refused to let current bills go forward which give parents basic rights to their child.

But what if you can’t remember who your representative or senator is? What if you can’t remember what district you are even located it?
There is an app for that…
Go to kavips.wordpress.com
Go to the menu on the left…… Drop down alphabetically to the L‘s where it says
Click on one of those….(the above links work well but this is for future reference… to enable you to do it at home.)
Then click on your residence and you will get a bubble showing his name and district number…. Like this…
Click on the blue highlighted District Name and it sends you to the Representative’s or Senator’s page…..
Then click or copy and paste the email address.
And that is all you have to do…
In fact, it is something you should regularly use. Remember this one fact… This is the United States of America… WE, the People are the Employer… They, our representatives are our employees…
So if there is a pothole no one knows about. if your police aren’t doing their job, if your neighbor is violating laws, if your mother in laws stops speaking to you, these are the go-to guys who can fix it…
When they hear from all of you that you want to opt out because of the test, they will do something to change it… But if you are silent, then be realistic… Why on earth would they do anything ? Do you go out and take on really tough fights you don’t have to?
Some of these legislators, are afraid of the Governor… Governors can make it easier or tougher to get re-elected. But that is an idle threat… For if they are not in office next year, what can the governor do to them?
Which is why they fear you, more than him. If he tells them one thing, and you, their boss, tell them to do something else,…they might dance for a while to play up both sides, but guess which one they are going to do?
They like being legislators… it’s a nice cushy job….
