This is a reoccurring nightmare. There is a club of senior scientists who regularly meet in Delaware, often at the second official governor’s residence and share ideas about how to rule the world in the future. Though acknowledgeably some neurons have dimmed, the collective age of scientific knowledge sitting around that table, covers two millennium.
There are many disagreements based on personal perspective. However, there is one unifying theme on which all members agree, whether liberal, conservative, or libertarian.
That is that mass-hysteria trumps science in today’s world… Facts don’t matter. Knowledge is immaterial… Propaganda rules and against that, facts are simply shut out…
It used to be when facing a crises the leadership would call in the experts and ask what the best solution would be, and what fallout to expect. The experts dutifully told them.
Today that has been substituted by marketing… One calls the pollsters. Which idea do people think will work? How will the fallout affect this group of people; how will it affect the others?
Politics is certainly important, especially when you are the first black president and 47% of the nation is out to get you because of the color of your skin…
But the people who have no idea of the facts, and are given this enormous power to decide policy, will lead us to some really bad decisions… That is the trouble with our world today.
Dumb media spokespeople, fire up a dumb electorate, who then elect dumb officials, to enact dumb policy… That is how Europe found itself embroiled in WWI. Mostly because a bored population wanted war, and war is what they got….
Europeans changed their mind, of course after several months… War wasn’t pretty or glamorous at all. Things never are when you fail to listen to experts…. those people who know facts and face those fact’s reality every day… who know every in and out… Compare that to an “opinionator” who calls himself an expert because he watched one slanted newscast on TV.
So today we have people who won’t vaccinate their kids; and want all airlines and all hospitals to shut down to prevent Ebola. Today we have people who smoke 3 packs a day, and think Obamacare for others should be abolished because medical care should only be for those who can pay dearly for it. Today we have a Congress that won’t extend wind credits, meanwhile the sea levels are rising, wildfires are raging, and reservoirs are drying up. Today we have truly a deadly flu, largely ignored because it cannot be blamed on the Black president since it didn’t originate in… darkest Africa… Today we have people who want to send children back to their death in Central America, yet not allow safe abortions here in the US because of the of chance it could kill human cells. Today we have the core of human knowledge, accumulated over millenniums, thrown out for one certified nut’s personal creation, called “Common Core”.
It is all just stupid…
There have always been really stupid people… But they have never been the ones running things. Today they are… and not to sound partisan or anything, but they are all extremely conservative. The middle-of-the-roaders, often called RINO’s, or Liberals, or Socialists, or Communists, or Pinko’s by these uneducated louts, are as sane as they ever were.
They are shut out. To get on national TV, one has to first meet the high standard set, and be a kook…
Wayne LaPierre; Sean Hannity; Rush Limbaugh; Ted Cruz; Sarah Palin; Rick Scott; Scott Walker; Paul Ryan; Rand Paul; John McCain; Lindsey Graham; Jeff Christopher; St. Louis police force spokespeople.. just to name a few.
All are given ample time and platforms to discuss any topic whose intimate details are such that they have no clue…
So where are the experts? Where are the scientists? Where are the academics? They used to be there. Anyone over 50 who remembers watching the nightly news before think-tanks were invented, can remember when experts regularly appeared on news shows to discuss their expertise…
Why is our media dominated by dummies? Why do people who once had clout, now echo the dummies instead of ridiculing them?
I think it is because they believe Americans don’t care about substance anymore but just want entertainment. Ebola comes from Africa, and so did Obama… The media has to make that connection and the first one to do so, can charge higher rates to its advertisers……
After 6 years… it is still all about putting a black president in his place… The answer that changes things: is to vote. You must vote this November to have this president’s back. After all, he listens to experts and not dummies… We definitely need more of that…..
Should you live or die from an accident or life threatening illness? Depends apparently on where you live… If you live in the Blue, you survive. If you live in the Orange, goodbye… Simple, clear, concise.
Served to you courtesy of ALEC and the Republican Party of the United States of America
It’s been six months since the greatest debacle ever experienced by a civilized human being, has taken place…. The Republican Party of the United States of America, fully endorsed by Charlie Copeland here in good old Delaware, shut down the Federal government over the repeal of Obamacare . Only those close to the story knew over what they were protesting….
Here is why the Republicans closed down your government, put 700,000 government workers on furlough, and cost the economy $24 billion dollars…. They did it because:
A. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to get free preventative care… No co-pay for flu shots, HIV screenings, prostate exams, colonoscopies, mammograms……
B. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to benefit from new requirements forcing insurance companies tospend at least 80% of our premium dollars on our health care , or refund us back our money…..
C. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to benefit from new requirements that insurance companies publicly justify their actions if they want to raise premiums by 10% or more…
D. They didn’t want 315 million Americans to benefit from knowing that our insurance can now never be capped or canceled at the whim of insurance companies.
E. They didn’t want 105 million Americans to no longer have lifetime expense caps, either through chronic disease, or corporate restrictions.
F. They didn’t want depending on which survey you read, 50 to 129 million Americans to benefit from the Obamacare provision that eliminates all bars for coverage based on pre-existing conditions..
G. They didn’t want those 49.4 million American current Medicare enrollees to under Obamacare now feel secure knowing that existing Medicare benefits can neither be reduced nor taken away.
H. They didn’t want 6.1 million Americans with Medicare Part D to no longer have to go through the “doughnut hole” coverage gap.
I. They didn’t want 4.4 million low-income adults to now have access to health insurance thanks to states implementing the expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare….
J. .They didn’t want 3.2 million main street American small businesses to be eligible for tax credits for providing health insurance to their 19.3 million employees nationwide…
K. They didn’t want 3.1 million of America’s young adults to get coverage because of the provision in Obamacare that allows them to stay on their parents’ insurance plans until age 26….
They wanted none of the above… When like a terrible two year old, they couldn’t get their way, they furloughed 700,000 Americans for a combined total of 6.6 million days, shut down the National Parks and Monuments thereby damaging local communities, closed down the NIH and CDC, stymied essential permits and necessary reviews, stopped import and export licenses thereby freezing trade, froze all Federal money earmarked for small businesses, homeowners, and families in rural communities, disrupted loans because banks and lenders could not access the Federal database, delayed $4 billion in tax refunds to American consumers, prevented all food and water from being inspected, prevented all train and plane accidents from being inspected, stopped critical defense and other non defense research, and cost 120,000 jobs from being created those two weeks in October….. It was just 6 months ago….
All of that…. just so you would not receive any of the above benefits from Obamacare….Oh, my, tsk, tsk.
This is election year… Still not fired up? So what’s your real reason? Got rocks in your head?
This bears more exposure. Originally from Allan Loudell’s blog on WDEL.

I would have to disagree with XXXX’s current political assessment. I can see how he would be misguided. If one associates only with those who think like ones self, then one reinforces ones opinions instead of challenging them….
XXXX feels like people don’t remember the shutdown… He thinks that people are more concerned about losing their insurance. If one looks at Breitbart and Red State, one can see why he feels that way. They talk of nothing else.
But the rest of America all suffered from feeling embarrassed that one wing of us was so childish, they shut down the government, then capitulated completely, getting absolutely nothing to gain from it.
In other words, all America suffered, not one single person gained. Ironically, just returning to normal was heralded as a victory for the American People, and allowing the return to normal was cast as a blemish to the Tea Party. That stains like child abuse; they will never live that down.
Now lets take the insurance exchange debacle. If you randomly pick 1000 people, 800 of them already have insurance so are unaffected. That leaves 200. Out of those 200, 170 of them were previously uninsured. So getting insurance for the first time, is a bonus to them. We are left now with 30. 30 people out of 1000 who currently buy their own plans on the open market. Of these 30, 8 will save money either through subsidies or through more direct competition. 9 will go through the process and find they are spending relatively the same. Unfortunately for those 13 left, they will have an increase in their premiums. That is 13 out of … how many? 1000.
Only 13 out of 1000 will have their insurance go up. Of course, with entreaties out to “send us your story” these 13 have a pipeline right up to the top of national media from where it is spewed out like treated water at a sewage treatment plant….
But in the end.. by next November 4th, exactly 345 days away, those 13 will be drowned out by the 987 who received no harm from Obamacare.
The problem is not your facts. 13 people will pay more. It is with your getting your facts from only those people who want you to hear one side.
Good luck winning Congress back with 13 people.
Blah, blah, blah… clips of 50 individual House Republicans each blathering about how terrible Obamacare is…
Not one, mentions that as of January 1st:
- You cannot lose your house or business anymore. (unless where you live is worth less than $6000.)
- There is a limit on how much they can take out of you.
- No matter how cheap is your employer, you can afford to get screened for almost all killer diseases before they KILL you.
- You can afford birth control.
Instead they all talk about how bad a website is… Isn’t that dumb?
Yes, it the dumbest thing that has been talked ad nauseum in a year noted for dumb things talked about ad nauseum…..
(Compare that to the NSA or Common Core, (2 true Constitutional crises) about which you have heard very little since October 1st!)
But….. With the Affordable Care Act rolling out this year, there is a tremendous opportunity for radio broadcasters to develop and uncover new and evolving revenue streams from this legislation.
This is the reason you are hearing so much about Obamacare right now… Remember only 17% of America will ever bother with the exchanges… (3% will disappear; 80% already have employer sponsored coverage)
Some 500 broadcasters recently sold out a Radio Advertising Bureau webinar on harvesting Affordable Care Act-related advertising.
AP estimates that $684 million will be spent on the initial activation period; and veteran broadcaster Dave Burke who spent the last year immersed in studying ObamaCare’s impact on various stakeholders reckons that 2014-2015 and beyond will be even bigger than 2013-2014: “I believe that this category, all-in, could be the biggest category on your stations.”
We’re already hearing (and seeing on TV) ads for “The ObamaCare Survival Guide,” and help-us-repeal-it fund raising spots hosted by Senator Ted Cruz. But Burke says that’s nothin’ compared to what’s down the road. Expect Help Wanted ads for call centers and other process-related job recruitment…..
“Because people can change their coverage every year during Open Enrollment, “There are going to be years of sign-up spots.” This is not a “one-and-done” opportunity.”
So, don’t beat up too hard on those controlling your programing. They do have a fiduciary responsibility to perform, and like everyone, they too have people demanding more money out of them… The more they create concern in you, the more they can charge those whose incomes depend on having the ability to reach the “most” of you….
There is a reason the opponents of Obama care are racing the clock to defund it before October 1st. They know how popular it will become to the American people.
I just looked and Delaware does not have their worksheets up yet, but in the state offices, things are looking rather rosy for the citizens of Delaware… Most of you will save thousands per year on medical bills. Not all, but most.. Looking at the voting trends, those who vote often, will all save money with insurance.
Other states do have their insurance options up and I have been looking through them. The general trend is thusly. If you are young, you are going to incur an expense you have not had to yet pay. Sorry. That will come with sticker shock, as does a new car, as does your first house. However, it should allow you the confidence to get checked out sooner, and therefore live healthier in your golden years than you otherwise would today if you had to pay full expense for care.
Hopefully, since you have to pay for it anyway, you will take advantage of it.
But you! Oh you! Who are old? Who have pre-existing conditions? Who have suffered with poor coverage for so long? You are going to love what this does. You will be able to figure out medical costs to the penny across your future years with your financial planning advisor, no matter what happens to your body. The costs will be fixed, and a lot cheaper than you paying through the nose upon each occurrence.
One can describe it as buying a warranty. What, the initial questioners ask? You want me to pay money to this shop each month even when nothing happens? Yes and if something happens you get your car fixed for free. Some gripe about losing $150 a month, until they see their first bill at a hospital would have cost them $5,000…. Then … they finally understand.
And you with families? Especially you who have not taken your kids to a doctor because you couldn’t afford it? You’re kids can now go…
So yes, those with money to lose will spend it all on ads telling you horror stories and capitalizing on one or two exceptions they make up as to who will pay more…
but just wait till October 1st, when you see that you start saving thousands… EVERY SINGLE YEAR!
Then remember the Republican party tried to run the economy over a cliff, twice, to stop these savings from coming to you…..
October 1st, it is almost here. About time for the pirated version to be leaked, don’t you think?
