In one of the last places one would expect to hear about climate change and about large oil companies’ denial that is it caused by their carbon extraction, at the stockholders’ meeting for Exxon-Mobile and for Chevron, repeated attempts were made to have their own companies face up to the problem they created, denied, and lobbied to have swept under the carpet….
More than 38% of Exxon’s investors rebelled against the company by voting for a proposal that would have required the company to publish an annual study of how its profits may be affected by public climate change policies, following the Paris climate agreement, to limit the global temperature rise to less than 2C (3.6F)….
(A similar vote at Chevron’s annual shareholder meeting, also held on Wednesday, showed 41% support from Chevron investors that cast ballots.)
This opens the door to a new avenue to attack “denial of global warming”, by buying stock in Exxon Mobile and Chevron, then attending the stockholder’s meetings… (Only 13% of additional stock is now required to change Exxon, and only 10% required to flip Chevron)… A far tinier margin than anyone had previously imagined…
Exxo tried to block the resolution from being heard at its meeting, but the US Securities and Exchange Commission regulator ruled that it must include the resolution among Wednesday’s votes. Obviously this revolt could not have happened during a Republican’s executive administration.
Rex Tillerson, the boss of oil giant ExxonMobil, said cutting oil production was “not acceptable for humanity”…Tillerson said Exxon had invested $7bn in green technology, but the science and technology had not yet achieved the breakthroughs needed to compete with fossil fuels.
The resolution discussed at Exxon’s annual meeting in Dallas was proposed by the New York state comptroller, a trustee of the New York State Common Retirement Fund, the third largest US pension fund, and the Church of England.
More than 30 of Exxon’s largest shareholders, including the pension funds of the governments of Norway, Canada and California, Legal & General Investment Management and Schroder’s, previously publicly stated they would vote in favor of the motion. Other supporters of the motion include the pension funds of local authority workers in Greater Manchester and Tyne & Wear.
Exxon is currently under investigation by New York’s attorney general over claims that it lied to the public and shareholders about the risks of climate change….
Exxon believes oil and gas will still provide about 60% of the world’s energy demands by 2040. In fighting off the proposals, Rex Tillerson, the boss of oil giant ExxonMobil, played his hand as to the real reason Exxon-Mobile and other oil producers are “pretending” Global warming is still a hoax. He stated their tapped and untapped underground oil reserves already firmly in their possession would be worthless, if the world shifts over to renewable energy.
They miscalculated the future; those investments are nothing but a bad business decision.
Notice the beginning trend of 2016……
This was predicted under global warming models of a few years ago, however the time line was 2070-80. We are approaching this 50-60 years too early.
Which means we are on a heat-loop and accelerating much faster than expected.
There is serious speculation that all arctic ice could melt this year (2016). Which means if it transpires, we will wipe out the entire population of polar bears who normally venture on the icecap in summer and will have to retreat to the last point of unmelted ice.
We probably should began formulating a doable plan to rescue them just in case the scenario occurs.
Bottom line, is that events everywhere are driving the point that someway, somehow, we will need access to a lot more money. Which means the last thing we need in this overheating world, is one more Republican unwilling to accept global warming, achieving office anywhere in this country….
(That is not a political statement btw; it is pure truth).
Pope Francis just cracked down hard on those who continue to deny there is climate change and who work diligently to PREVENT any good works saving this planet from taking place. When the head of the Catholic Church speaks…. Catholics should listen.
Not tomorrow, not 10 years down the road, not three generations later… Now… Now is the time to honor it…
If are catholic and do not support stopping carbon pollution…. you had better change your religion. God wants you to fix the planet, absolutely. Not destroying it…
But as of today, if you are Catholic and pro-Carbon, it’s the same as being Catholic and killing innocent babies. Because face it, that is exactly what burning Carbon is going to do.
Against this, Israel, Russia, and Planned Parenthood are nothing. Only two candidates have promised to address it: Trump and Sanders.

2014 establishes a new record… Never in the course of scientific measurement, has the globe been as hot as it was this past year…
Not in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, or ever… Furthermore all the top ten hottest years have occurred over the past two decades… To give you any indication of that significance, there have been 602 decades since the world was created by alleged creationists. The last two include the 10 hottest years ever. Some say it’s because we are moving closer to hell, and if Republican policies continue unabated, there is some truth to that.
But there is no mistaking the evidence. Based on coincidence alone, the evidence is overwhelming. Some may not agree. But that disagreement is solely based on fancy, and not fact… Such disagreement’s factual consistency falls in level near the bottom of credibility alongside that of saying that allowing blacks to play sports will bring down the level of the game (yes, once said and believed); or that the Negro was sub-par to the white man, and slavery was a blessing for it, over the freedom of living naked in squalid jungle… or that all sickness was caused by bad blood, or the earth was flat, or the sun went around the earth, and not vice versa. On the latter, people were burnt at the stake for telling the truth.
But those days are gone. Thanks to science. Explanations for the unexplained based on fancy, only work until that unexplained gets explained in fashions we can understand.
And we know from scientific experiments that increasing the amount of Carbon Dioxide into the atmosphere, as well as decreasing the forest process which breaks down CO2 into Carbon and Oxygen, will result in warmer temperatures… no matter what anyone else says. And we do know that since 1990, the world has never, ever, ever put as much CO2 into the air, simply because there never has been as many people driving cars as now, and we know how much carbon is mined or pumped, how much is held in reserves and can use simple math to determine how much is being burned.

For eons this amount of carbon has been stored underground where it was protected from the atmosphere. Never before in recorded history have we seen carbon reunited with our atmosphere on such a scale. Without question, Global Warming is man-made and is caused by mankind’s burning of carbon. Even the most skeptical must now accept it.
So what to do about those who continue to deny it? First, recognize they are not serious. They know and are just creating noise for personal reasons. There is nobody on this planet who can look at the graphic above showing warming trends, and truly believe it doesn’t exist… They may say so, but what they are saying is this: I was so wrong that the only way I can have any self respect is to fool myself and others that I still believe as I did when I was wrong… If I ever admit I was wrong, I’ll be teased unmercifully. So.. here goes again… That’s bull; there is no proof o global warming and there is tons of proof against it…
Such defiance of the obvious would be funny and cute if it were evidenced in say a dog experiencing winter for the first time, running and jumping off the dock and slamming onto an ice cover lake. But when such denial affects our ability to counter the problem, we can’t let it continue…
If we lived in a village of 200 years ago, and wolves came into town every night to feed on young’uns, we would band together to do something.. Like build a stockade around town, or man a gate, or something to protect our children. What if we had townspeople getting up in the middle of the night, opening the gate, or cutting holes in the fence to let the wolves come in, so they can continue devouring our children… (Damn children scream in restaurants and give me indigestion).
What if we caught… one of those people… 200 years ago? I’d kill them, and think I’d be seated near the right hand of God for doing so. No question. No doubt. never any guilt. Alas, today, killing people is frowned upon as it should be.
But what if we did something else?
“This is bullshit. There is no proof of Global warming.. It’s a liberal hoax.” I put my fist through his fvcking head. Would the next person be so inclined to speak up so? I think the entire gig would be up…
If one person does it, people may say… Oh, tsk,tsk. That is terrible, brutish behavior. But if 99 people do it for every person holding up progress, the myth that man-made global warming is a hoax will rapidly die. The sides of wrong have been employing such tactics for years… “Oh, you’re gay? We’re going to beat you up and leave your body on a barb wire fence”. Or Selma. “Oh, think you can challenge whitey’s rule, huh? Well how about you try challenging this?” WHACK, THUD. The same people letting in the wolves, are the same people who think Timothy McVey is a hero for what he did.
These are sick people and the only way to make them see their ill ways is to punch them in the jaw. No warning (Ok, ladies, you can slap them then, doesn’t have to be punch)… Just something to punish their stupidity. Would you let your child say something like that in public? Of course not. You’d back hand him so fast he wouldn’t know what hit him.. “Stop Lying.” “Don’t tell lies.”
Remember just a decade ago where the boys gather on the outside of a Midwestern town to settle by a fistfight, who was better, Ford or Chevrolet? If it is ok to do such in a Super Bowl Commercial for a stinkin’ truck, isn’t it even more acceptable to do so for the saving of the planet?
There is no more argument. The last decade of ten years of argument,has come to one conclusive conclusion.. What that conclusion is, is evident to you in the video shown above.
Here is your piece of the puzzle. All you have to do is next time someone says man made global warming is not true, instantly hit them in the face. When they say, “what the hell did you do that for”, reply with… “stop lying”.
End of problem. Sometimes you have to treat little kids like little kids.
Expect global deniers to crack jokes about the cold spell this weekend… “I thought we were supposed to be experiencing global warming…. ”
They probably won’t know it is caused by a hurricane of the size of Sandy which slammed into the cold air over the Arctic and sent it spinning into North America proper… Where as its wind speed may not show up as one of the worlds worst, it is notable for this reason….
“This superstorm is notable because it represents one of the lowest sea-level barometric pressures ever observed on Earth outside of tropical cyclones and tornadoes. At 920 millibars, it is on par with Katrina…..”
If you look over this list you will notice that there are only 19 storms in the Atlantic, 12 storms in the Eastern Pacific, which have ever in recorded weather history, matched the intensity of this non-tropical storm that will cost us all dearly as we grudgingly turn on our heaters and start paying $$$$$$$ to stay warm.
This week we will be having three cyclonic activities in areas in latitudes where they should not be… One of them will be responsible for the upcoming cold snap… So yes, surprise the hell out of that person uttering disdain over global warming and bitch slap them squarely across their mouth… Retort with: “this cold is all your fault, stupid….” Then smile so they know you are indeed a really a nice person.
I guess there is a storm coming.
