I’m trying to put all your ideas together into one package. So, let me get this right… All you are asking is for, is a country where:

1) There is no universal healthcare.
2) Few entitlement programs.
3) Low Flat Tax System.
4) Faith based Government.
5) A deep reverence for God.
6) Extremely strict rules against abortion.
7) Marriage has already been strictly defined as between man and woman.
8) Homosexuality is a sin, and illegal.
9) Dress Codes are strictly enforced.
10) Tattoos, piercings, baggy pants, are banned.
11) Has the Death Penalty which they aren’t shy about using.
12) Strong private school system with religious focus.
13) Widespread dependency on oil and natural gas drilling.
14) Growing nuclear program
15) Nonexistent environmental nuisances
16) Culture that promotes family and stereotyped roles for men and women.

I’ve endeavored to put all your values on one page. I share your frustration because today, ever since 2008, it seems like America is moving further and further away from these values.

But you don’t have to be frustrated anymore. I have looked far and wide and have discovered a place already in existence that has those values in place, and more. If you sorely long for those values above, it is sincerely a place where you and your family would be very happy.

It is Iran.

You don’t have to pay me. I don’t need any commission. Just glad to help a fellow Delawarean out…. No problem.

Rick Santorum is a Catholic.  He has incessantly called all Catholics who use contraceptions against Church doctrine, as being “non Catholics”, as worshiping some phony religion.   Santorum minces no words when he declares Catholics have to follow the teaching of their church…..

In an op-ed piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer in December of 2009 entitled “The Elephant in the Room: Catholics Must Heed Teachings,”  Santorum wrote, “Catholics must be true to their consciences. But that is not a free-floating guide that we can define ourselves. A Catholic is required to form his conscience in accordance with the church’s teachings on faith and reason, and to act in a morally coherent and consistent way, both privately and publicly.”

That bold line bears repeating…

A Catholic is required to form his conscience in accordance with the Church’s teachings….  Rick Santorum (2009)

That is a very dangerous thing to say because the Church has been around for a long time…  Over its life-long history,  the Church has said quite a bit…

For example, one of the things the Church under  Pope Leo XIII said back in 1891…. was that the Church would always be solidly supportive of labor unions…. and solidly against unfettered Capitalism…..

In the Rerum Novarum  (1891- Pope Leo XIII)  occurs the following……

“Let the working man and the employer make free agreements, and in particular let them agree freely as to the wages; nevertheless, there underlies a dictate of natural justice more imperious and ancient than any bargain between man and man, namely, that wages ought not to be insufficient to support a frugal and well-behaved wage-earner. If through necessity or fear of a worse evil the workman accept harder conditions because an employer or contractor will afford him no better, he is made the victim of force and injustice…”

Among the remedies it prescribed were the formation of trade unions and the introduction of collective bargaining, particularly as an alternative to state intervention.

Rerum Novarum also recognized that the poor have a special status in consideration of social issues: the modern Catholic principle of the “preferential option for the poor” and the notion that God is on the side of the poor were expressed in this document.

Why does Santorum want to get rid of labor unions?  To do away with these (listed below) responsibilities ordained to be done by the Catholic Church?

Some of the duties of employers are:
1) to pay fair wages
2) to provide time off for religious practice and family life
3) to provide work suited to each person’s strength, gender, and age
4) to respect the dignity of workers and not regard them as slaves…

(Fair wages are defined in Rerum Novarum as at least a living wage, but Leo recommended paying more than that: enough to support the worker, his wife and family, with a little savings left over so that the worker can improve his condition over time…)

Just ask any teacher in Nashville, which this year wiped out all teacher’s unions, whether or not they can fulfill these requirements sanctioned by the Supreme Holiness himself….?

(The answer is :  NO, THEY CAN’T)….

The Catholic Church sanctioned Labor Unions for a good reason… so much so that it codified deep within it’s canon, that protecting Labor Unions would be a necessary requirement for every Catholic to comply with….

So when you see Rick Santorum next time,  ask him why it is that women, … MUST obey the Catholic Church canon,  but large corporations…. must not?     Either it works both ways, Rick,  or… it works neither way……   You don’t get to pick and choose…

Anyone against the formation of  labor unions is in violation of  Catholic Church Doctrine  ……….

Because… ..

A Catholic is required to form his conscience in accordance with the Church’s teachings….  Rick Santorum (2009)

I wanted to say a few things…

All this education reform, all this Department of Education stuff, all this race to the top, all this hoopla, of this plan, that plan, this approach, that approach, this evaluation system, that evaluation system… has got to go… Throw it all out the window….

Every new approach is just another person’s idea. One he has to sell; one he gets rich if it gets adopted… And who says each idea will work? Private entities that stand to make lots of money if their idea gets accepted….

And kids know nothing…

They like their teachers… they know nothing.
They like going to school… they know nothing.
They like their friends,… they know nothing…

But with today’s technology, the “nothing” that they know, serves them well; they lead happy, prosperous lives……

It is time we rethink education. It’s time we talk practical.

Be honest: when you make a personal decision at your employment, does what you learned about Harriet Tubman apply? No? Then why are we requiring every Delaware school child to waste a months study every February on Black History?

Be honest: can you name every European Country? You can’t? No? Then why are we wasting a semester on Geography when if someone says Moldavia, we can in less than one second ID it exactly on a Google Map?

Be honest: Do you still remember how to do differentiations and integral calculations? (You were once going to be a scientist; now you call people on a phone). If so, why are we wasting young students time so our state’s school administrators can brag to other states administrators what a tough educational dick they were?

Seriously: you work; you have a job; you do some type of useful service to another… What do you need? What do you need from school to be able to not only do your job to minimum standards, but do it well enough to get ahead?

Seriously: WHAT DO YOU NEED?

I’ll answer for you.

You need to know how to read.

You need to know how to do basic math… Add, subtract, multiply, divide….

You need to know how to communicate so others can understand you….

That is it… Oh, yes, those in the business who prosper from money ill spent, whose livelihood is based on selling the impossible to public and private schools, will argue otherwise… We just need to roll our eyes, and say… “ok, if you are so right, why is it not working? Where are your facts?”

But the rest of us…. we know it’s true, especially if we’ve had children pass through elementary, middle, secondary, undergraduate, graduate, and now, are working a job requiring none of their skills…. we know it’s true…

And you know what’s missing? Especially with all this crap in our schools? And you can see it; just step into any high school?… It is so obvious, yet no one else sees it… …

I’ll leave you to ponder it with a story…

Recently a convention was held with the top vice presidents of manufacturing companies worldwide… The best, of the best, of the best….

The symposium facilitator, stood up, and said, “our first item of business, is to determine exactly what all of you had in common.. what happened in your upbring that would get all of you thirty or forty years later, willing to take a weekend to come out here at 7:30 Saturday morning on your own time, to talk about what’s missing in today’s education?”

After a few minutes of discussion a consensus emerged rather quickly… They all had a Gilbert Chemistry set… not the dumbed down version for safety, but one that could actually make the explosives… and… each of them had a high school teacher, who made chemistry exciting, explosive, and fun…

You see? The fun has been sucked out by the U.S and Delaware Department of Educations.. THAT is what is wrong with education today… It certainly is not fun for Governor Markell (he has to listen to Kilroy); it is not fun for the teachers (they have to undergo so much unnecessary crap); and it’s sure isn’t fun for the students (why are they making us do this stuff from 1960?)….

You want to make America great? Keep education stripped to the basics; keep it simple, and during the rest of time, focus on making it fascinatingly fun!

They cost you too…

The drop in payroll tax from 6.2% to 4.2% results in a savings of about $1000 a year to every wage earner.

(If truth were widely known, that tax cut is actually a bad idea. It hemorrhages a dying social security fund, requiring the eventual death of the program or an expensive emergency last ditch surgery in the future.)

But it is hard not to give a $1000 present to every voter. Even if it only comes out as $19 dollars and change each week… But, still again, if your electric bill is $198 and you only have $189 in your account, that additional amount is, well, a lifesaver…..

But, Republicans in the House, even after Republicans in the Senate voted passage, overwhelmingly voted….. not to vote on the measure…

They didn’t vote against it… THEY VOTED NOT TO VOTE ON IT……
(speculation is that they lacked the votes to keep it from passing)..

So, how does that relate to you?

House Republicans (read Tea Party) just voted NOT TO VOTE on whether or not you will be losing an extra $20 a month out of your next paycheck.

Imagine what this is doing to payroll clerks around the country?
Imagine what this is doing to family budgets around the country?
Imagine what this is doing to businesses who rely on consumer spending around the country?
Imagine what this is doing to businesses heavily involved in the financial sector, around this country?

So what would normally happen?

Normally a group that can’t find agreement, acknowledges the sad fact, and long before the deadline, announces that they failed to reach agreement and that things would continue as they were on a temporary basis, to unfortunately allow for more time to solve differences.

Instead, we have a vote not-to-vote, then get all sorts of very lame excuses from those who are delaying, none of which apply to the real problem that Social Security is doomed unless drastic action gets taken (higher rates, not lower), and we get nothing….

The tax cut will expire…

It is like sequestering a jury in a room, where everyone after much fact-covering argument has agreed to a judgment, except for one person who’s been bought off. And nothing, nothing, logic, emotional appeal, bullying, snuggling up to, befriending, produces any change. And you go years, every working day, to the same court house, the same jury room, they same chair at the same table, hear the same arguments, hoping against all odds, that today, he will see the light and switch. You go the next day.

That is today’s Congress. Held hostage by Tea Party Republicans who live in a dream world untouched by the reality of living under $185,000 a year. Like that bought-out juror, every day, they hold up progress with the unjustified belief that, if they wait long enough, the other 11 jurors will give up and sway over to the sole juror’s way….

Two things can happen… 1) return to the public and announce a hung jury, and do a complete retrial.. or 2) sneak up to that one juror, put a gun to his head, say nothing, pull the trigger, clean up the mess, dispose of the body, then go out to the public and announce what the 11 of you have decided…..

One is the nice way, sanctioned to due process of law. The other is the American Way.

It’s time to initiate the kavipsian policy of expression or what is otherwise known as “Show Us How You Really Feel”… Who knows? It could become the next great movement? The next time someone you know (or don’t), says anything about how millionaires should keep their tax cuts and the poor should pay, nod your head in agreement, smile a little bit, then hit them as hard as you can in their mouth, I mean as hard as you can! Put them flat on the ground holding their jaw… Then loudly say, “Don’t every talk that stupid way to me again!” Who knows, if 99% or all 303,930,000 would respond that way to our fellow congressional delegates, and the other 3.9 million of their like who advocate such madness, we might actually get the very progress we need, not because of intimidation, but because such policy is right….

For those who argue expression of violence is un-American, I’ll remind them that tonight, is John Wayne Night on AMC: view it!… I argue that such action is VERY American and perhaps it has been the lack of such spontaneous expressions of frustration from working American people, that has caused the logjam where nothing gets done because of one holdout, who thinks he can sway the world to his opinion and face no consequences… ….

Practice now, by punching brick walls.

So, can someone tell me again, why we shouldn’t tax the rich, and instead, balance the budget on the backs of everyone else?…….

I seem to be missing that little detail where that all makes sense……

Medicare says seniors with high prescription costs have saved more than $1 billion thanks to Obama’s new health care law.

President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul provides Medicare recipients in the coverage gap called the “doughnut hole” with a 50 percent discount on brand-name drugs this year, and a smaller break on generics. Giving insight into the number of medicined prescribed to this cost segment, that saved seniors $1 billion just in this year alone.

(Which means if a majority of Republicans succeed in being voted in, Seniors themselves will be the ones who need to come up with that $1 billion out of their own pockets.)

Officials said Friday about 2 million people with Medicare saved more than $1.2 billion on prescriptions through the end of September, averaging $550 per person.

So get ready Grandma and Grandpa! If you both are living, together you’ll be paying $1100 more EACH YEAR if Republicans get elected.

$1100 a year….

The biggest category accounting for the savings was diabetes medications. Cholesterol drugs and medications for asthma and other lung diseases came next.

Next year, seniors will get the same 50 percent discount on brand drugs, and a bigger one on generics.

Occupy Nashville was removed from their square at app. 3:30 am Friday.

29 human beings were arrested. The arrests appear to have incited people who didn’t necessarily support the movement, but who are appalled by the governments response.

Shortly after the arrests, Night Court Magistrate Tom Nelson rebuked the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which is responsible for policing Legislative Plaza, and refused to approve troopers’ warrants. “It is of particular consternation that the rules and curfew were enacted after a protest movement and occupation of Legislative Plaza had been tolerated for just over three weeks, with no notice that the group members were involved in criminal activity,” Nelson wrote…

Citing safety and sanitation concerns, General Services Commissioner Steven Cates initially ordered the group to evacuate the plaza by 8 p.m. Thursday. Then, on Thursday, the state announced new regulations that included a new curfew for the plaza and a daily $65 permit requirement for gatherings there. State officials backed off the 8 p.m. deadline and said they wouldn’t begin enforcing the new regulations until Friday, while at the same time they posted signs around the plaza stating that it would be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday. At 3:10 a.m., 75 state troopers arrived and arrested all those who refused to leave.

Technically, the requirement to have a permit, which costs $65, has always been on the books — state officials just haven’t enforced it. While the curfew is new, Thursday’s decision effectively serves as an announcement that, now, the state is going to take the policy seriously. “Before, if anyone held an event without a permit, we didn’t do anything,” state spokesperson Lola Potter said. “We just held our breath and hoped they didn’t leave too much trash.” Potter cited the state’s respect for the fact that the plaza is a public place as a reason for the lax enforcement of the policy, but said that starting Friday, officials will be “a little more stern about requiring a permit.”

In other words, if you support Republican values you are allowed to protest; if you’re a Democrat, you are banned by a curfew.

Republican Gov. Bill Haslam said he approved the arrests and expected the curfew to be enforced again Friday night.

One of them was Adam Knight, an eighth-grade English teacher at Two Rivers Middle School. Asked whether he was worried that his activism could jeopardize his job with Metro schools, Knight quoted Martin Luther King: “You can’t be afraid to stand up for what you believe because you’re afraid that you will lose your job, or you are afraid that you will be criticized.”

One of Knight’s 13-year-old students watched as he was thrown to the ground, cuffed with zip ties and dragged from the plaza. The student had persuaded his parents to take him to the plaza to watch the demonstration. “I appreciate what the people are doing here today,” said eighth-grader Charles Bruce. “They’re supporting our future.” His horrified parents remained with Charles on the sidewalks outside Legislative Plaza after the protesters were arrested and rows of state troopers took up position to block anyone from setting foot onto the once-public space.

“They’re telling me we don’t have the right to gather?” his stepfather, John Henry, said. “There will be litigation,” Nashville attorney Patrick Frogge, who is representing some of the protesters, said Friday. “They (state troopers) crossed the line further and became illegal captors when the judge ordered them (the protesters) released and they held them for hours anyway.”

Apparently common sense is not being used in the Tennessee Republican governor’s office. This appears to be an attempt to intimidate, nothing else.

“You’ve got to look at the rich heritage, legacy and history of Davidson County when it comes to legal, civil protests,” Metro Councilman Maynard said. “I hope Tennesseans don’t lose sight of that. Can you imagine if the lunch counter sit-ins or the civil rights protests or the Freedom Riders had to get a permit? That’s ridiculous.”

The thing that can best describe the Occupation of Wall Street. is simply that it’s there.

On blogs and matters of real opinion, it is the leading topic. The right is talking about it, the left is talking about it, the trolls on the right are talking about it, the trolls on the left are talking about it.

Delaware Liberal is assisting. Delaware Politics is trying to connect it to the Communist Party.

The story leads on almost every news feed out there today…..

It provides fear to those with slave-owner mentality. (We’re going to lose the wealth we don’t deserve). It provides hope to those faced with no hope at all. (The system may crumble and we’ll have opportunity once again).

It is simply an idea. An idea so simple, it lasts across human kind. That is.

Listen to us.

This action, simply occupying Wall Street, a harmless action whose inanity is even endorsed by Mayor Bloomberg himself, has struck a nerve.

It is the proverbial little boy, who blows up the entire propaganda argument carefully construed by one’s handlers, to allow the king to parade in the finest cloak that everyone can see, unless they of course are fools… (There is no cloak at all, the king is naked.)

Occupy Wall Street is just pointing out that all the hoopla we’ve been fed since Ronald Reagan, about wealth trickling down to all who work, is really when it comes down to it, was really nothing at all…

Simply stated, the corporate model failed us. Time for something different.

Everything else is just hoopla.

Oh for heaven’s sakes; come on now… Just because you can’t always get your way, you threaten to shut the government down..
You, Eric Cantor, are acting like a little boy, throwing a tantrum because your parents won’t buy you a Popsicle from the Ice Cream Man!

Eric Cantor’s thought process: “Oh, it looks like I won’t get ice cream today. They are saying no, they gave me some yesterday. I’ll have to ratchet this up a bit…. W H A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A !

Would someone shut that kid up?

First they were going to shut it down over last years already-voted-for budget. Then they were going to shut it down for this years budget. Then they were going to shut it down for this years debt ceiling raise. And now they are going to shut it down for what…. Irene disaster relief?

What is this? Is this nation really run by this Republican fool? How does one threaten to shut down a government over giving out disaster relief?

There already is a bill passed by the Senate that just needs a voice vote in the House, to start that $6.9 billion relief flowing to those areas hard hit by Irene..

It’s this simple: “Mr. Speaker! I ask that we vote on this measure immediately…. ” Ok, All in favor say “Aye” … “AYE”… All opposed: (silence) … “The measure is passed.”

But no… Mr. Eric Cantor wants his bill passed… One that has his ice cream in it… He wants to deduct that $6.9 billion from investment in renewable energy. Which means he wants to reward oil companies by raising your cost at the pump to $5.00 a gallon, and if you let him, only then, will he send your disaster relief for the tragedy that happened four weeks ago.

He thinks he has you over a barrel. Someone needs to take that spoiled little kid, put him outside the car in some remote wilderness location, drive away, and let him bawl all he wants…….
