We knew this but it is now being published… and so it is in the news.
The world is getting warmer… and we can now predict our climate by looking at map at 300 miles south and guessing what our weather will be from that…
Just as plate tectonics and Darwin’s origin of the species were able to lay the groundwork of reason for explaining puzzling observations, this simplifies what to expect from global warming rather startlingly.
Texas is now what we alway thought of when we considered the weather of Mexico; Oklahoma is now West Texas; Kansas is now Oklahoma; Nebraska is now Kansas; South Dakota is now Nebraska, North Dakota is now South Dakota: Southern Manitoba is now North Dakota…..
If West Texas had 3 days of rain, now Oklahoma is getting 3 days of rain; If it snowed 12 times in South Dakota, it is now doing the same in North Dakota… and so on.
So, to predict our heat, rain, winters, etc, our guide would be North Carolina. Longer growing seasons, some winters with no snow, hot summers…
However due to Global warming, the East Coast has a caveat. An anomaly so to speak and actually some relief from the North Carolina summer heat we would normally expect….
With the unprecedented melting of the Arctic and Greenland icecaps dumping its excess into the Labrador Current, that cold water drops South hugging the East Coast shoreline all the way down to North Carolina’s Outer Banks where it finally becomes neutralized… Therefore even though we have hotter air masses, the colder ocean temperatures creates a buffer against Global warming off the entire northeastern US.
Europe, Japan, and Alaska all experience the same mitigating effect, although with both Greenland and the Arctic Icecaps melting into the Labrador, the US East Coast gets a stronger volume of cold water. Call it our icy shower effect….
Once melting stops and the currents dry up, we return to the North Carolina scenario of the twentieth century….

So, we in Delaware really get the best climate on the East Coast. Warm winters, little or no snow, and cool breezy summers….. as well as a longer growing period, and… less dependence on fossil fuels for winter heating.
Gee, global warming isn’t so bad for Delaware after all…. Oh, the rising seas? There you go again… Why did you have to spoil the rosy picture I was painting?
Reading a recent critique of the debates, it focused on a fact. Millions of Americans are not enjoying the benefits of this economy. Romney had the lucky position to point out all that was wrong, without the responsibility of finding any solution to fix it.
His line, “bring down the rates, broaden the base.” simply has not worked. It didn’t work in Reagan’s time. It didn’t work for Bush HW. It didn’t work for Bush W. It is called: “trickle down”.
Clinton, who practiced kavipsian Economics, raised the rates, causing profits to revert back into the economy stimulating even more growth; that growth grew people’s incomes. That is the key. People will take lower wages if they know they will grow out of them. But ever since Republican Tax Rates went into effect, wage growth immediately stopped. 99% of Americans are earning exactly what they did in 2000. It’s been twelve years since wages for the 99%, increased. Higher taxes takes away all incentive for any employer to pay his people more.
Here is the funny part. To actually do something about the economy, President Obama has to eradicate the Republicans. Get rid of them. Make them a non player. Republicans and republicans alone, are the reason the economy is in such a slump.
Let’s review.
Republicans fought the stimulus.
Republicans fought the car buying incentive.
Republicans fought infrastructure development.
Republicans fought giving Veterans jobs upon returning to USA after fighting for years.
Republicans fought lowering insurance rates.
Republicans fought lowering gas price legislation.
Republicans fought regulating big banks from literally stealing your money.
Republicans fought against balancing the budget.
Republicans fought against payroll increases for all Americans.
Republicans fought against lowering medical costs.
Republicans fought against a better economy.
Republicans fought against hiring more policemen.
Republicans fought against hiring more fireman.
Republicans fought against hiring more school teachers.
Republicans fought against building roads and bridges that were sorely needed.
Republicans fought against not defaulting on the US Dollar.
Republicans fought against strengthening America Abroad.
Republicans fought against stopping corporate corruption.
Republicans fought against fighting wealthy tax cheats.
Republicans fought against closing the loopholes Romney used to get rich.
Republicans fought against raising wages for all Americans.
Republicans fought against legislation that allowed workers to ask for more money without being fired.
yeah. There is a reason the economy is bad. It is called the Republican Party.
Having “No Republicans” equals massive investment back into our economy. The formula for a successful America is…..
NO REPUBLICANS EVER ELECTED AGAIN = MASSIVE AMERICA ECONOMIC GROWTH
So Obama, you are at fault according to Mitt Romney and the Conservative Cheer-leading squad… Because you didn’t get rid of Republicans… Shame on you!!!!
I guess it is up to us, to do so if we EVER want our economy back.
If not… I guess every vote for a Republican is a vote in support of Communist China…..
This headline just appeared out of nowhere…….
Gingrich to rivals: You’re Much Too Chicken
Of course, it spawned a meme…..
Rivals to Gingrich: You Eat Too Much Chicken.
Gays to Rick Santorum: You’ve Choked The Chicken?.
(Yeah, I know it might leave a bad taste in some people’s mouths, but, hey sorry, that’s politics….)
I wanted to say a few things…
All this education reform, all this Department of Education stuff, all this race to the top, all this hoopla, of this plan, that plan, this approach, that approach, this evaluation system, that evaluation system… has got to go… Throw it all out the window….
Every new approach is just another person’s idea. One he has to sell; one he gets rich if it gets adopted… And who says each idea will work? Private entities that stand to make lots of money if their idea gets accepted….
And kids know nothing…
They like their teachers… they know nothing.
They like going to school… they know nothing.
They like their friends,… they know nothing…
But with today’s technology, the “nothing” that they know, serves them well; they lead happy, prosperous lives……
It is time we rethink education. It’s time we talk practical.
Be honest: when you make a personal decision at your employment, does what you learned about Harriet Tubman apply? No? Then why are we requiring every Delaware school child to waste a months study every February on Black History?
Be honest: can you name every European Country? You can’t? No? Then why are we wasting a semester on Geography when if someone says Moldavia, we can in less than one second ID it exactly on a Google Map?
Be honest: Do you still remember how to do differentiations and integral calculations? (You were once going to be a scientist; now you call people on a phone). If so, why are we wasting young students time so our state’s school administrators can brag to other states administrators what a tough educational dick they were?
Seriously: you work; you have a job; you do some type of useful service to another… What do you need? What do you need from school to be able to not only do your job to minimum standards, but do it well enough to get ahead?
Seriously: WHAT DO YOU NEED?
I’ll answer for you.
You need to know how to read.
You need to know how to do basic math… Add, subtract, multiply, divide….
You need to know how to communicate so others can understand you….
That is it… Oh, yes, those in the business who prosper from money ill spent, whose livelihood is based on selling the impossible to public and private schools, will argue otherwise… We just need to roll our eyes, and say… “ok, if you are so right, why is it not working? Where are your facts?”
But the rest of us…. we know it’s true, especially if we’ve had children pass through elementary, middle, secondary, undergraduate, graduate, and now, are working a job requiring none of their skills…. we know it’s true…
And you know what’s missing? Especially with all this crap in our schools? And you can see it; just step into any high school?… It is so obvious, yet no one else sees it… …
I’ll leave you to ponder it with a story…
Recently a convention was held with the top vice presidents of manufacturing companies worldwide… The best, of the best, of the best….
The symposium facilitator, stood up, and said, “our first item of business, is to determine exactly what all of you had in common.. what happened in your upbring that would get all of you thirty or forty years later, willing to take a weekend to come out here at 7:30 Saturday morning on your own time, to talk about what’s missing in today’s education?”
After a few minutes of discussion a consensus emerged rather quickly… They all had a Gilbert Chemistry set… not the dumbed down version for safety, but one that could actually make the explosives… and… each of them had a high school teacher, who made chemistry exciting, explosive, and fun…
You see? The fun has been sucked out by the U.S and Delaware Department of Educations.. THAT is what is wrong with education today… It certainly is not fun for Governor Markell (he has to listen to Kilroy); it is not fun for the teachers (they have to undergo so much unnecessary crap); and it’s sure isn’t fun for the students (why are they making us do this stuff from 1960?)….
You want to make America great? Keep education stripped to the basics; keep it simple, and during the rest of time, focus on making it fascinatingly fun!
We went to war for oil in Iraq.
Dick Cheney said so….
Though hailed as heroes upon marching into Baghdad, we squandered our good will in our grab for the oil rights. Iraqi’s sat up and said, “wait a minute, this is our oil”…
Americans changed presidents and Iraqi’s had the last laugh….
Blew that one.
Cheney was the person responsible.
What the fuck are we in Afghanstan for… Poppies?
Actually no.
Rare earth elements… know about them?
Currently China has a monopoly on rare earth elements. These materials at the bottom of the periodic tables are the responsible for almost all electronics being made today. They are the reason electronic packages have gotten so much smaller this last decade. Today’s phone carries more data as a large stand-alone did in 2000….
“The mineral resources in Afghanistan have the potential to completely transform the nation’s economy,” — said Regina Dubey, DOD Task Force for Business and Stability Operations (TFBSO).
In total, the USGS studied 24 formations, the most prominent being the giant copper and cobalt deposits near Kabul, the iron-rich areas in central Afghanistan, the copper and gold resources in southeastern Afghanistan, and rare-earth element deposits in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan. Many other precious and base metal deposits as well as industrial mineral deposits also are highlighted in the newly released reports.
To see maps of individual deposits, go here….
Quickly said, this is about as good as finding gold on the moon, a correlation with which many of our servicemen will identify.
We can rest assured that under the competent Democratic leadership of Obama and Clinton, these minerals WILL remain the property of Afghans, and therefore, will not be subject to the same claims of imperial conquest which were corroborated in Iraq.
It is correct to say, this is no Vietnam. America’s investment interest in Afghanistan has surpassed the dollar investment we have already sown. WE have to make sure we exit in such a way that they choose to show us the good will as did the Japanese, Germans, Chinese and South Koreans… We should take care not to piss them off as Dick Cheney was so good at doing to his ilk.
Perhaps a good diplomatic session is in order, with the punch line being:… you can choose your future and you have two options: work with us as did South Korea, or… fight against us… and remain impoverished as their neighbor to the north….
