When riots happen in Wilmington, which i’m sure they will, I hope they will learn from Ferguson Missouri’s mistake.
That mistake is to riot in your own neighborhood… That is just plain silly. Did we attack ourselves when the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor? Or did we wage war with Japan?
Why people would loot and burn in their own neighborhood, is beyond me. I write this now, so when the opportunity to riot does occur, those with above average intelligence will have a plan to move the crowd out of their impoverished neighborhood, and instead riot in neighborhoods where the a) the loot is much better, and b) those responsible for the policy that has kept you down since Clinton left office, are directly affected. If you are going to riot, you should do in on the enemies home turf. Republican Country.
A riot has a purpose. It is to change things. To make things better by creating a situation that is worse than doing nothing, therefore something has to be done. Blacks didn’t protest on the back seat of the bus. They sat in the white section. Black students didn’t do their sit-in at the black counter. They did it at the white. Black students didn’t march into Tuskegee Institute with the National Guard. They marched into the all white University of Alabama. Martin Luther King didn’t do his marches within all black neighborhoods. He marched across the bridge into downtown white Selma….
So battling police in your own neighborhood, looting your own corner store, burning out yours and your neighbor’s houses, kind of double hurts you. Not only are you being oppressed by Republican Policies, but you are also setting those who support you, back even more….
So I’m writing this to tell you where to protest so it will do you some good.
It is called Westover Hills. There aren’t many people living there, but those that do are rich and very old and feeble. They couldn’t stop a crowd breaking into their house if they tried. Plus, when you loot, you could actually get something you could sell. Whose going to buy all the banana flavored Laffy Taffy you stole from the corner market? But you could easily swipe a Bose Stereo, or maybe find a safe with a couple of hundred thousand in it.
And instead of hurting mom and pop, or Uncle Joe and Aunt Alice, you would be hurting those whose money is directly responsible for you not having a good job, a good house, a good future. Those in Westover Hills vote Republican and it is Republicans who have allowed all the money to go to the top 1%… and none to you…
If you remember the Clinton Democratic years, it was different. You, or your mom and dad, did get richer every year and if that had only continued, you would have been doing rather well by now. But you got lazy and enough of you didn’t vote for Democrats in 2000 and now, we are stuck with the rich getting richer, and you and your neighbors, getting poorer…
So take the number 20 bus from 10th and Market side of Rodney Square and in 8 minutes and 15 stops later, you will be just north of the riot zone. Do your peaceful protests there, in the middle of the streets, and shout how Republicans have ruined everyone’s lives but those of themselves… When the riot police arrive with their single tank and tear gas, make them fire it at you so all those rich billionaires have to breath it too. Then when all hell breaks loose, break into the houses and rob yourselves silly. Don’t even worry. Unlike those corner stores, everything you take here is fully insured… Destroying their property, will in days, put all Delaware’s construction workers back to work. These guys are rich. They don’t dilly-dally around.
The main point is this? When you riot in your own neighborhoods which these Republicans never venture into, it only serves to reinforce their notion of you as a sub-human race. “Look at those pathetic people”, they will say over their Maker’s Mark and Hennessey, “they’re tearing up their own neighborhood. Maybe we should keep them doing it so they move and haul their sorry asses elsewhere.”
They will not be in any hurry to lift one finger… “make them suffer more” will be their outcry. But … if you do it in THEIR neighborhood, they will at least wonder why? In their asking around, what’s the real cause of these people rioting, they will come to the conclusion that they, with all the money, need to invest more, need to hire more, need to pay more, and that if they had previously invested more in our people, this riot would never have happened. That is your key… Getting them to call their out-of-pocket legislators and say, “raise my taxes; we can’t afford any more riots like these, even if we are insured. It’s the third time this year. I’m too tired for another round of tax free shopping!”…
You can even walk there. So forget the bus. Just send the coordinates out on social media, and anyone with a phone app can get there…. It is pointless for you to have to bear the cost and trauma of what THEY caused. It makes such great sense for them to bear that cost, and after doing so, quickly create the changes you need to pull yourselves out of poverty…
So pastors and neighborhood watch leaders. Start talking your kids to riot in Westover Hills, instead of your own street. Isn’t it about time, the real criminals get to feel the heat?
They are the ones who put you there…. Make THEM pay, not those who are poor like you. And pick up something nice for me while you are there… A nice oriental carpet would be cool… blue and white if you find one.
We hail our fallen heroes. Hopefully many of you stirred some dull roots with spring rain today:… memories, both a blessing and a curse.

Already the amount of dark money as shown by tallies done by the Center for Responsive Politics show that nondisclosing groups have already reported spending more than three times as much as they had at this point in the 2012 elections — a presidential cycle when higher spending would be expected.”
Did you get that? The unprecedented spending done in 2012, a contested presidential year, as of now been tripled over the same point of time back in 2012…….. . And it is both sides. In the past dark money was 80% Conservative, 20% Liberal. Today (2014), it is 60% Conservative; 40% Liberal… Spending by liberal nondisclosing groups is more than four times higher than it was at this point in 2012, while their conservative counterparts have tripled their previous spending level……
Which means, no tv watching this summer… and social media will become a real turn-off…. Both mean that most of America will tune out this election… Thank you, Supreme Court….. What were you smoking?
And if most of America tunes out this election, it again begs the moral and serious question…. for whom did they die? Certainly not us.
(and Independents (including Libertarians))
There are hundreds of reasons. The major one history…. This one is a small, insignificant one, but added to the heap of others it provides amazing clarity…
“Democrats are seen an more willing to work with the other party, by a margin of 52% to 27%.
Take ten random people and line them up…. 5 of those now see Democrats as the more willing to work with the other party. 3 of those see Republicans as willing to work. 2 others are on the sidelines waiting to see what happens…..
Add those 2 to the Democrats 5, and you have a super majority that can pass legislation without worrying how it helps or hurts the other party. But add those 2 to the Republican side, you at best, will get stalemate, at 5 vrs. 5…….
Meaning that there is only one way to go. Swear not to vote for a Republican, ever, and if you are a Conservative, go out and find a Conservative democrat. Trust me, they are out there. As one looks across the Democrat party today, one sees much complaining that Democrats from conservative districts, are too conservative….
Voting for a Democrat will never hurt you or the nation. Voting for a Republican does, every time they win an office…. Don’t feel sad; they brought it upon themselves….
(This is not some political spew; it is a thoughtful rendition of the reality faced by America today. If the roles were reversed, I’d be championing the other party.)
The Data center is slated to use gas developed from the Marcellus Shale region to our northwest.
Unlike the old sources of natural gas in Texas and Louisiana, the Marcellus Shale natural gas has a high concentration of Radon.
Radon has always been known to embed itself in natural gas. However the gas coming into Newark’s Data Center Power Plant, will have a higher concentration of radon. from the shorter distance it travels, and from the higher concentrations known to abound in Devonian shales ranging between 8 and 32 times more powerful that that found in Gulf gas wells.
A high of 2576 pCi/L. versus a low of 37 pCi/L for Gulf and Texas natural gas. Furthermore, at at half life of 3.8 days, radioactive radon will have a higher concentration traveling just 300 miles at 10 miles per hour as opposed to 1800 miles through a trans-continental pipeline.
Being an inert gas, radon will not be destroyed when natural gas is burned… As an inert gas radon if inhaled, will be exhaled. The problem is that radioactive elements break down into other elements. When radon decays one of the elements it leaves behind, is lead.
Inside nine power plants studied, the radioactivity from radon was under 8 mR/hour. When radon decays one of the elements it leaves behind, is lead.
So how much radon will be emitted?
If we take the assumption given to us by the investors that this powerplant will run at full capacity 24/7, then a 248 Megawatt plant will require 1736 GJ’s (gigajoules) of natural gas each hour….<Convert 1736 Gigajoules to Cubic Feet Of Natural Gas“> 1,645,410.52 cubic meters containing at an average of 1450 pc/ls or 39Bq/m*3 and multiply all together, we get this amount of Radon falling down on Newark…. 64,482,304 Bq’s….
Just for the record, Canada set its safe level at 200/m*3.
Particles tend to fall one meter for every meter they extend outward from their source. In a stack they can continue much higher than the stack itself, as the thermal current carries the particles upward. Once they begin to fall they usually without wind drop one meter per meter heights…
If one takes the trajectory of the Delaware City Power plants plumes the most oft direction is northeast. One could assume those directly northeast of the power plant would feel the most effect from having 64,482,304 Bq’s raining down on them each hour….. this is compared to the 10 Bq’s found in open air...
Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking. 8% of lung cancer deaths are currently attributed to ambient radon. That which is naturally occurring. Those facing higher concentrations, have a higher incidence.
Newark is guaranteed to have a higher incidence than current, if this power plant goes through…
How much difference? Try 64,482,304 Bq’s to 10 Bq’s of a difference…. Get ready to die.
The document in question was an 86-page opinion the FISA court had issued on October 3, 2011.
In it the FISA court states that the action requested by the NSA was unconstitutional. The FISA court was of the opinion this information needed to be disseminated to the public.
The Justice Department was due to file a court motion in June in its effort to keep secret an 86-page court opinion that determined that the government had violated the spirit of federal surveillance laws and engaged in unconstitutional spying.
So in a nutshell, we have the NSA committing an unconstitutional action. We have the secret Federal court which incidentally only hears the NSA’s side of the argument, decide such action was NOT under the scope of the law, and was actually unconstitutional. The court felt the public should know about this Constitutional violation, apparently because even they were shocked at its danger for democracy.
The Justice Department then filed suit to block the dissemination of knowledge to the American people, that the secret FISA court had determined that the NSA was going over and beyond its powers invested by the Fourth Amendment, and that it is therefore acting unconstitutionally.
So when our government does something unconstitutional and covers it up… what do we do?
Ironically, in East Germany, we have more privacy rights today than in the United States of America.
Where did we go wrong? It’s all Patrick Leahy’s fault. He got soft after standing up to the Joker in The Dark Knight and so now he isn’t standing up for Americans. Guess he figured he’s done his share.
Congress has under a 10% approval rating. It seems like every time something comes up, the Republicans filibuster. They don’t have the votes to stop it, so they filibuster indefinitely.
Does that make sense in a majority ruled country? Where we elected a majority of representatives to move the nation forward in the direction we think it should go, that those in the minority, apparently a very sliver of the minority, can simply stop all progress from going forward?
Americans are beginning to understand that America NEEDS one party rule. And it had better be the Democratic Party that is doing it…. Seriously, you want a party the ignores 47% of the population thinking they don’t matter?
It appears Obama has won. Already well over the delegate count needed, his primary goal is to follow Roosevelt’s example. Campaign against each and every single elected Republican. He can do that from the bully pulpit. He can say, “this is the direction I wanted to go; this is the direction you chose me to go; this is the problem I can’t get there. I need you, because it is your duty, it is your right, to eliminate the problem. I need one party rule these next four years….”
Roosevelt had the same issue, but he didn’t have the 60 filibuster rule in the Senate. Roosevelt actually had it much easier than Obama, and although he was playing against the same animosity Obama now faces, he didn’t have to have a perfect hand each time he sat down to play at the table. America hobnobbed this president. First in re-electing Chambliss in the Georgia runoff in 2008, then with the tea party flip in 2010. Since the House went Republican, Congress has stopped producing.
It could produce what the Republicans wanted, if the Senate went along. Which means there would be no tax revenue coming into the treasury, and no outlays going out. The federal Government would be shut down and shuttered. It also could produce what Democrats wanted, if the House went along. Which means that Obama would be considered the best president ever because of the roaring economy. Republicans couldn’t have that.
So, electing a party that serves the interest of all Americans, instead of just one half, would be a good investment towards this nation’s future.
If you’ve always voted for divided government, this it the year not to. A two party system where one party is Republican equals gridlock. We are tired of that.
All Democrats in 2012? It’s the best way to show you love your country.
Supposedly on Newark High School’s Junior Varsity, is a future threat to High Schools across the conference….
Playing linebacker next year, he has already given 10 concussions, broken 5 opponents bones, and had one kid tell the coach, he was the reason that kid wasn’t staying on the team anymore…..
I heard this with raised eyebrow, and wondering if these values are truly the ones we want our kids to work for,…. decided to pass it on.
Lifted from Der Speigal:
And so the farce continues. The more mind-boggling its incarnations, the happier the US media are to cheer first one clown and then the next, elevating and then eliminating “frontrunners” in reliable news cycles of about 45 days.
Take Herman Cain, “businessman.” He sat out the first wave of sexual harassment claims against him by offering a peculiar argument: Most ladies he had encountered in his life, he said, had not complained.
In the most recent twist, a woman accused Cain of having carried on a 13-year affair with her. That, too, he tried to casually wave off, but now, under pressure, he says he wants to “reassess” his campaign.
If Cain indeed drops out, the campaign would lose its biggest caricature: He has been the most factually challenged of all these jesters.
As CEO of the “Godfather’s” pizza chain, Cain killed jobs — but now poses as the job-creator-in-chief. Meanwhile, he seems to lack basic economic know-how, let alone a rudimentary grasp of politics or geography. Libya confounds him. He does not believe that China is a nuclear power. And all other, slightly more complicated questions get a stock answer: “Nine-nine-nine!” Remember? That’s Cain’s tax reduction plan that would actually raise taxes for 84 percent of Americans.
Has any of that disrupted Cain’s popularity in the media or with his fan base? Far from it. Since Oct. 1, he has collected more than $9 million in campaign donations. Enough to plow through another onslaught of denouements.
