CBS puts the price tag at $1.5 million per vote… That is probably exaggerated and where that might have been the actual initial expense were one to account for all the high priced hours, acquired document fees, parking, etc for the information collected in the first vote, it would be safe to assume that most of the subsequent votes all draw from that original document…. and the expense would be less.
As all know by now, Obamacare helps we, the people, and in doing so costs the private insurance companies a little more in profit unearned. That essentially is what this whole battle is over. If the private insurance companies had from the get-go, said they were gung-ho into Obamacare, none of this controversy would have occurred at all. …
So according to CBS, the grand total, with 50 attempts to repeal, is now at $75 million of your dollars completely wasted over nothing… We still have Obamacare. The money was spent. It was therefore spent on nothing and Republicans in the House, are the ones solely responsible. Someone needs to be accountable for spending the exact same money when they knew very well it was to wasted and could go no further…. over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
(Yeah, it’s 50)
So when you legitimately complain that nothing is getting done to help you the public citizen, consider this: what $75 million would otherwise buy….
$150,000 jobs…. 500 per year
$75,000 jobs…. 1000 per year
$50,000 jobs…. 1500 per year
$35,000 jobs… 2142 per year
Fixed pot hole….. 250,000 at the high in estimate of ($300 per pothole)
Brand new high schools…. 3 3/4
Elementary schools…. 10
Rounds of ammunition…. 255 million
Roman Abramovich’s home …. 1
M1 Abrams tanks….. 8.74 tanks
Spent on Marijuana Prohibition….. 1.36 days
SNAP Benefits….. 8 hours 14 minutes worth
Operating a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier….. 70 days, 21 hours,
Amount applied to Protecting Endangered Species….. 3 years and 3 months
Speakers of the House….. 360 of them. (Vice Presidents too)
=====
Bottom line. We could have gotten a much better deal for the money spent. Everyone knew it was being spent on absolutely nothing. Yet Republicans spent every penny anyway… Remember this the next time they yelp about Keynesians spending government money on useless projects…
This was just a pure sad waste of your money. No ifs, No buts. No do overs…
It is up to you to hold the Republican Party accountable; the main stream media won’t….. Just wait until the next time some one dares complain about Obamacare in front of you…!
If this information were to ever get out, it alone could cause the House to turn blue in 2014……..
In Tennessee, the other Race to the Top Contestant besides Delaware, there is a county, with a “Managerial” educational director, that is now 25% understaffed staffed. The reason? He used his accountability powers to punish everyone who wouldn’t kiss his ass.
“Won’t sleep with me? Humph. I’ll show you” Won’t pay me a $1000 extortion fee to keep your job? Humph, I’ll show you.” “Try to tell the truth on me? Humph. I’ll show you”
Delaware will be there next year.
The problem is the accountability clause in each contract. One must perform well to keep one’s job. That is acceptable if it is within one’s powers to succeed or fail. But there are limits. Any of us could stop traffic on our neighborhood street to allow kids to cross safely. But to expect the same across Interstate 95 in rush hour is asking too much. And that is exactly what Cheatham County Tennessee was doing, if you got on their “bad side”…
That’s why 93 teachers out of 379 are calling it quits.
In Cheatham County High School, 18 of 36 teaching positions are vacant!
Including the football coach and basketball coaches, after their best record seasons ever…
“There’s rule by fear here,” the basketball coach Dawson said. “They seem to want everyone to walk around on egg shells in constant fear of losing their job.”
As an example, Dawson added that he was “quite vocal” about his English class not getting books until this past November, and soon after “he was a target.” He cited things like a class observation scheduled late in the same day when his basketball team was playing a game to get into the state tournament. “When you start feeling that pressure and stress, it trickles down to the kids,” added the former teacher. “Its not a healthy work environment for teachers, and not a healthy work environment for kids either.”
In the end it is the kids get hurt.
So how good is their educational program going to be next year? When the summer is spent just hiring the vacancies that just opened up?
All the crap about tearing down the existing structure to get rid of all the dead weight is happening. Now there is nothing and no time to rebuild…..
Tennessee went faster down the accountability trail than Delaware. We waited one year. Our year is next…
We must ask ourselves as we read the spittle in the News Journal that hasn’t even been fact checked, just how well our small state’s educational system would be if we didn’t have teachers?
Our affluent citizens would then be boarding up their children in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Maryland…. Those middle class and under, will be sitting in class with the unemployed hired off the streets to take attendance and yell whenever students talk……
This is the Eli Broad Superintendent School in full effect. This is the philosophy of the Bill/Melinda Gates Foundation, unvarnished….
25% of teachers quit… Now what?
And now it is Michelle Rhee herself. The DC darling who was praised by both McCain and Obama during the 08 campaign, now has to contend with the fact that she knew all along the cheating was beyond the parameters of normal and did nothing about it… It is one thing if you don’t know, and your underlings who you have told to “produce or else” change their scores underneath of you, but it another to actually know and understand the implications (that she and her principals erased and changed the answers from wrong to right), that what you may be proposing is false and to then go forward and propose it anyway using the compromised data to back you up….
Just this year, we had Texas acknowledge that the test results then under then George W. Bush governorship, were faked. That pilot project went on to become the “No Child Left Behind” which left a whole generation behind.
Again just this year we had almost the entire district of Atlanta whose amazing results sold the rest of the nation into diving towards Common Core and RTTT , indicted under falsifying all the test results…
You see.
This new fangled educational system does not work unless the results are fabricated.
This is the same new fangled educational system which the Markell administration and Mark Murphy seem to be forcing upon Christina School District as we speak. This system is dependent upon holding teachers accountable to standards that don’t work…. Then pulling out these faked test results from Texas, DC, and Atlanta, waving them and saying… we want results like these….
Ummm. No thank you. Things used to be much better before corporate got involved…
Anyone who has ever worked in any corporation, no matter what geographical spot you live or work in, knows very well your success depends on how you look doing it, not on whether or not things get done ethically… On the other hand, our sports teams have the opposite philosophy. To them, it is what you accomplish that matters, no matter how you look in achieving it.
It is time we switch and use the sports model, not the corporate model for our educational needs. Our children deserve the best.
And they are solidly Democrat. Why? Because they are smarter than the rest of America. That is why. They figured out that the way to prosperity, was to expel Republicans from office and put Democrats in instead.
All evidence shows that Republican policy makes it’s people’s wealth, worse. Much, much worse… All the top states are solidly in Democratic control. All the bottom states are solidly in Republican control. So readers in other states (since we’re not going backwards anytime soon) how rich do you want to be?
You are being lied to… You are being lied to by each and every single one of your Republican elected officials.
Delaware is based on the principal that when the wealthy get rich, through very fair taxation, everyone underneath benefits. It is called, I think, allowing the wealth to ……. trickle down……
This story is making it’s way up the charts… It is about the perils of navigating the private insurance labyrinth, being kicked out, and finding salvation in what?…… A government run Health Care Program.
Bottom line… Private Insurance ain’t what it was under Clinton’s 1990’s… If you haven’t gotten sick lately, then talking smack about Governmental Healthcare, makes you a stupid-ass hypocrite.
Bottom line.
Call every Congressional person and tell them this is preposterous.
Remember the baby video maker who was sued because of the pop music playing in the background?
This is foolishness, and every Delawarean, yea, even every national, Congressperson needs to know it…
Perhaps, perhaps, if it is passed, Hollywood can sell a couple of more movies…. But if it is passed, it will be the death of the first amendment… you and me, are gone….. morte…
There can be never be censorship of the Internet… Never. and period….
Here is the blog that has been quoted recently by the mainstream press, especially after the video went viral, and they had to scramble to cover up the fact they originally tried to whitewash the incident.
“DUMB COLLEGE KIDS”, the right wing pundits squeal…
Not so…
Try an Assistant Professor in the Department of English, who organized the peaceful demonstration.
Or try an Associate Professor of English, who was grabbed by her hair, thrown on the ground.
Or try Associate Professor Geoffrey O’Brien who was injured by baton blows.
or try Professor Robert Hass, former Poet Laureate of the United States, National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize winner, who was also struck with a baton.
I wonder how this child’s mom feels right now: One of them, forty-five minutes after being pepper-sprayed down his throat, was still coughing up blood.
Or the dad who was there, bedside, to welcome this bundle of joy into the world.
Or the Grandparents of these children… When students covered their eyes with their clothing, police forced open their mouths and pepper-sprayed down their throats.
What’s the point? What were you trying to prove, Mr Rogue Policeman? Ohhhhh, that you were sooooooooo tough… I bet all the women flock to you now, don’t they?
What were you trying to prove, Chancellor Katehi? That you have an iron will? Or that you didn’t care? You had to appease the wealthy donors. The tents were such an eyesore and had to be removed, even with the potential for a loss of life?
What were you trying to prove, Republicans? Cutting taxes. Underfunding institutions of learning. Trimming school budgets so the wealthy wouldn’t have to pay their fair share of the cost of living in American society…
Go ahead. Save them a couple of pennies…. Beat the student’s senseless.. Fill their lungs with pepper spray… Ram their lower abdomens with your batons. Make them unable to ever bear children…. Do it for your wealthy master. All so millionaires can save one more penny on the dollar they’ve already taken from us…
Oh, no… Wait… Why didn’t we think of that before… If you kill us all off now, you won’t get back your student loans we borrowed from you at those exorbitant amounts of interest you so graciously parted your money for….
