I know some of you like to see how it is done… Especially if you are a Republican. There are good lessons here for your NEXT convention…
(Hint: remove all the ugly men/and feature women…)
I was in disbelief… Really, was it the AP? It was almost an “Et tu, Brute” moment….
Of course, by now everyone knows the American media is bought out… Of course, duh… Afterall, who is it all run by? Billionaires? Duh… We know that.. Amazon owns the Washington Post, for heavens sakes… Murdoch owns the Wall Street Journal and the National Geographic, for heaven’s sakes… Anyone with a brain noticed changes immediately occurring after each change in ownership….
But until now the AP has always stood on its credibility. It allegedly is owned by the sources it reports to and gathers information from. They never say anything speculative. They never say anything purposefully untrue. They never say anything to influence results… When they call a race on election day, they are the ones the rest of us use to confirm the same suspicions we gathered from viewing all the same evidence.
If fact, with the modern age, and the ability to see results turned in precinct by precinct, one can now see how they actually call races and are able to predict that exact moment when a candidate crosses the line which precludes no other possible outcome.
Today, June 7th, our most populous state (among others) goes to vote. To announce the overall winner the night before invites speculation of foul play… Upon hearing this newsbit from someone more glued to their phone than I, the immediate question that popped in my mind over all others, was… hmmm why couldn’t they wait one more day?
I wondered in this progression…..
A) Are they trying to persuade people NOT TO VOTE…
B) Are they trying to make sure no one else calls it before them , thereby getting to be considered the “new” expert and steal their place in all future contests as the final arbiter?
C) Are they showing off how they don’t have any morals? (“We’re bad; we’re bad”) Hounding superdelegates months on end reminds one of the ambulance chasing lawyers of the late 70’s?
D) Or are they jumping on the current news mantra of trying to create news, instead of report on it?… And therefore by pre-calling for Hillary to be the winner, minimize any Sander’s future claim on the superdelegates?
If you look at numbers, it seems funny for what you don’t hear….. Minus the superdelegates, here is where all stand.
2383 Delegates are required to win.
- So far Hillary has won 1812.
- So far Sanders has won 1521.
Ok, granted, so looks like Hillary’s ahead…
OH, but WAIT…..
694 Delegates are being decided today…. And most are in areas where Sander’s does really well…
As a baseline let us see what do we get if there is a 50-50 split of these potential delegates?
- Hillary will have 2159
- Sanders will have 1868
In this case, Hillary will be the winner.
So continuing the speculation, what if it goes 60-40 towards Sanders?
- Hillary drops to 2089
- Bernie rises to 1937
Hillary is still the winner.
But what if it squeaks to 63-37 split towards Sanders?
- Hillary has 2068
- Bernie has 1958
Same result.
Ah, ha. So what if it becomes 65-35 towards Sanders?
- Hillary has 2054
- Bernie has 1972
Again, same winner. This race for pledged delegates was lost in PA, DE, and MD on April 26.
After fiddling around for a magic number where the delegates gain parity, we find the breaking point at….71-29 in Sanders’s favor….
- Hillary at 2013 pledged delegates
- Bernie at 2013 pledged delegates
Obviously neither candidate will have enough “pledged” delegates to clinch the nomination by the end of today.. So regardless of today’s outcome, the ultimate nominee will depend on their split of Super Delegate votes entirely to settle the outcome. This is a solid nod to the effectiveness of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party for being able to mount a significant challenge against whom all assumed would be the ultimate nominee as far back as 2008….
Therefore regardless of delegate outcome, it will be a contested convention in which deals get made to secure support and whoever makes the best deals to the most superdelegates, wins the race. This is not necessarily bad for America. Many of our finest presidents were elected in conventions by using this method… Of the many, both Roosevelts immediately come to mind.
So for the AP to already announce the winner based on super delegates alone is preemptive… It is like calling a playoff game over, before all time is gone.. Many of us not in a official capacity, have done that…saying:
This game sucks, season’s over; we know the winner, let’s get out of the stadium and beat the 3 hours of traffic that first three miles…
But at no time in my recollection have I ever seen a televised playoff game “officially called” before the final ticker to show another close game deemed more exciting in a different venue… But that basically is what the AP just did…
This playoff game is over. We will move on to the next one.
Although there may be a 90% chance that their prediction is correct, things are never over until they are over….
Some of you former Viking fans may be old enough to remember one playoff game when with less than thirty nine seconds left, it seemed assured to fans on both sides that the Vikings would go on to their 3 straight Super Bowl appearance, their fourth overall that decade, and for the first time, win it against a Steelers team who at best was mediocre ….After all with less then 40 seconds on the clock, it was fourth down and 16….there were still 75 yards between the ball and goal line. This was the year; it WAS going to happen. This Minnesota win was assured…..
Only it wasn’t. It was the Cowboys who lost to the Steelers in the Superbowl X that year 21-17. The Vikings never made it past that playoff game against the Cowboys, having lost to them on a score of 17-14 due to one “Hail Mary” pass..
The point is this distinction.
When one has specific times that delineate the beginning and ending of competition, to officially announce the winner before it is over, is always the wrong thing to do… One is confusing probability with inevitability. Reporting should not be in the business to be an odds maker; instead one reports on final results, and the results reported though absolutely probable, are not yet final because while time is still on the clock, there is still potential that things could change.
And that is what is different in this call. It was made WHILE there is still potential for alternative outcomes, instead of being determined after the line had been crossed where no other outcome is possible.
Hopefully the AP’s mistake in judgment should give every potential Bernie voter that little extra kick to get out to prove the naysayers wrong… As for all Hillary voters out there, since the AP says she won anyway, seriously, for you, duh, what’s the point of voting? Why put yourself through it? Stand in lines in the hot sun? Oh please…Plastered in sweat? Really? You all might as well stay home. Your vote doesn’t matter anyway. She’s already won.
There is a reason blacks support Hillary over Bernie. There is a reason Bernie is almost even with Hillary among whites…
It makes perfect sense if you know blacks and whites.
For whites, who have never been a minority or who never had to bite their tongue in conversations with a majority different from them, know that a return back to policies of the New Deal is needed. Higher taxes on the one percent, stronger union protection laws, better voting rights enforcement and tougher regulations on very large businesses, each help tip the balance back toward those not of the 1%, who frankly, are not doing so well these days.
But for Blacks, the New Deal really didn’t do much for them. They were still segregated and ignored under Roosevelt, who didn’t want to upset his Southern backers or create a division of the country during WWII. For Blacks, nothing strategic happened until Martin Luther King began stirring trouble while the Civil Rights Act got passed.
So economic talk of returning to the policies that made America great in the 20th Century, mean little to them. They are more concerned with finding someone who WON’T throw them under the bus whenever they as a group, get in the way.
The only way to get Blacks to go against their loyalty to both Clintons is to somehow persuade them that Wall Street is their larger enemy, not white racists.
The only way to get Blacks to support Bernie is to convince them that Wall Street’s freedom to do what they want with impunity, is why the Black people are suffering so much today…
White people are suffering too. But Whites can’t blame white people for their problem, so they blame Wall Street, whether its in the form of their local banks, they boss, their bosses boss. But they know that unless change comes this election year, America’s middle class will die off when they could have just as easily been splurging, had the better candidate won.
But black people for very good reason, will first blame whites, and that is why having Hillary who has been supportive and outspoken in defense of their leaders remains their preferred candidate. They feel she can be trusted.
Of course Donald Trump is taking the opposite approach to capturing white people.. He is blaming Blacks, Muslims, Mexicans for our problems… “It is THEIR fault you are suffering” he dictates…
His is a diversion. For really America’s demise comes from the sad fact that as a nation we are collectively pursuing higher profits without considering the cost that chase is levying upon us.
When we stop chasing profits, and taxing sort of rains on that parade, then investing in ones physical capital and ones personnel become how we will measure worth.
Under Republican Congresses and past White Houses, we came to consider profit as our measuring stick to judge our national worth. It was a random choice. We could have chosen standard of living, superior health of our citizens, our comprehensive retirement packages, or a clean environmentally as our token of measurement of our skills. Had we done so, then profits would not have mattered any more in the future, than today with some companies, paying their employees properly. Who cares?
But we chose this… WE, the People. listened to arguments and chose for our country, to pursue profit as our primary measure of our own success as a nation. So when we discovered more profitable to farm jobs overseas, we felt sorry for those losing jobs, but if that was getting more profit then that by our measuring stick, was better for America.
Now that looks like a mistake.
And so it is time to change our priority. And if you are Black you may still decide to support those who were loyal in your past… We all do this and there is nothing to be ashamed if that is how you feel.
But here is something additional to think over. If you always do what you always did, you always get what you always got. So if your friend was helping you so much in the past… why are you in such bad shape now?
Ask yourself that.
And the answer you might find, is that they were also friends of those who put profits over your welfare, and by serving two masters, whenever they had to chose one, it wasn’t you…
So again, why ARE you in such bad shape now, if she has always been there for you? Maybe it is time to look at something else…
Just sayin’.
My friends, we are gathered here today to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments, to give recognition to the worth and beauty of committed marital love, and to add our best wishes to the words which shall unite these two people in marriage. In the words of our Creator, what God hath brought together, let no one cut asunder.
The commitment that the two of you are about to make, is the most important commitment that two people can make; you are about to create something new, the marriage relationship, an entity that never ends.
As you stand here today, are you now prepared to begin this commitment to one another? (I am)
Have you come here freely and without reservation to give yourselves to each other in marriage? (I have)
I would ask that you both remember to treat yourself and each other with dignity and respect; to remind yourself often of what brought you together today. Give the highest priority to the tenderness, gentleness and kindness that your marriage deserves. When frustration and difficulty assail your marriage – as these do to every relationship at one time or another – focus on what still seems right between you, not only the part that seems wrong. This way, when clouds of trouble hide the sun in your lives and you lose sight of it for a moment, you can remember that the sun is still there. And if each of you will take responsibility for the quality of your life together, it will be marked by abundance and delight.
Will you have this person to be your wedded partner? (I will)
Will you love and comfort then, honor and keep them, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto them as long as you both shall live? (I will)
Will you have this person to be your wedded partner? (I will)
Will you love and comfort them, honor and keep them, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep yourself only unto them as long as you both shall live? (I will)
Since it is your intention to enter into marriage, join your right-hands, and declare your consent (before these witnesses) by repeating after me:
I, take you to be my partner, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as we both shall live. Take this ring as a sign of my commitment and fidelity to you. …
I, take you to be my partner, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, as long as we both shall live. Take this ring as a sign of my commitment and fidelity to you.
In so much as the two of you have agreed to live together in Matrimony, have promised your commitment to each other by these vows, (and) the joining of your hands (and the giving of these rings), by the authority vested in me by the State of Delaware, I now pronounce you a married couple. Congratulations, you may now kiss as a married couple….
Ladies and Gentlemen here who are witnesses. May I present to you the world’s newest couple….
Awwwww. How can anyone vote against something as wonderful as that?
In the House, 78 percent of Republicans voted against emergency aid for Hurricane Sandy. In the Senate, those 36 voting against Hurricane Sandy aid, represent 80 percent of Republicans.
Some had districts repaired by Federal Aid after Katrina. Some, had the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers flood their front yards… One, Roy Blunt of Missouri, even angrily insisted that 100% of the Joplin tornado repair be done with Federal Money. Whereas 75% was already approved and covered …. Roy put it bluntly: “I think they have to come to a better number than that, and the right number, I think, would be 100 percent.”
This caused me to think.
Over the history of man, has there ever been a more hypocritical group than this? Ones who simply deny reality and make so many statements so absolutely contrary to truth?
yes.. there have been.
Kim Jong-Ill
Baghdad Bob
Tokyo Rose
Lord HaHa
Emperor Nero
King Herod
Calling a conservative “hypocrite” is like calling a progressive “liberal”: It stings, but they don’t actually understand why it’s supposed to be offensive. Using the word “hypocrite” should really be stopped altogether. It’s become a meaningless insult like “Nazi,” “bias,” or “environmentalist.” It actually has some spray back onto its user anyway. Basically pointing out someone is a hypocrite makes you sound like an angsty emo tween. It’s a word we learn in junior high to apply to grownups.
Instead of “hypocrite” I recommend the word “fraud.” It sounds bad. Fraud is illegal. Fraud is immoral. And it’s an accurate way of describing hypocrisy without sounding like an irate Justin Bieber fan.
In business it is one of the traits we try to teach.. It is not a natural tendency. The natural tendency is to point the finger elsewhere, as is well known by anyone who has raised little children. Sometimes their excuses are hilarious. And sometimes those of adults are even funnier.
But in business we teach those coming up that accepting the blame does many things. It stops the investigation process. Life gets back to doing everyones job to the best of their ability.
Secondly, the person most responsible, is now in charge of finding how and why the mistake happened. Most of what we experience takes place between our two ears. For someone else to guess at what is going on there, makes a hearing sound like the comments running mad of an inane post on some blog somewhere… Everyone is an expert on what the head hancho was thinking. Better to let the person who actually knows what thought processes went down, determine the weakness and broken links, then offering it up to pure speculation…..
Third, as soon as the acceptance of accountability is made, the story, if a negative, starts to go away…. The usual formula is that on the break of the next day, the scandal is half as bad, and the next day after that, it is again half as bad or one fourth as bad as originally, and that ratio continues until soon, no one really cares.
One would think a business man at the head of the Republican Party would know this. (But then, he was only an investor; not a business man.) This moral characteristic compared to that of our current commander in chief, echos the thoughts of most Americans, …. we chose the right man to be in charge.
But here, is why, Mitt Romney says, he lost the election.
It was Governor Christie’s fault after Hurricane Sandy.
It was the GOP Primary Debate Moderators.
It was the 47% who get things for free and don’t want to do an honest days work.
It was Hurricane Sandy’s fault.
As long as it wasn’t Romney’s fault.
Forget: unemployment dropped to 7.8 the weekend after the debate.
Forget: Detroit should go bankrupt.
Forget: They are closing down all Jeep plants in the USA and making them in China.
Forget: My Vice President can’t tell the truth. Even about a marathon he ran 20 years ago.
Forget: My convention was built on a twisted lie concocted by misrepresenting the words of the President.
Forget: My bright shining moment of royal entitlement, was usurped by an empty chair.
As long as it wasn’t Romney’s fault.
Bottom line, America sensed that, or more properly put, a majority of American’s sensed that. And that is why, a commander in chief, who says, “I’m responsible for Benghazi, the buck stops here,” is always preferable to having someone who has no regard for the collateral damage his bomb throwing may cause, … because…. it is always someone else’s fault……
At first such a headline sounds trite and unthoughtful. Oh, it’s the simple linking of two words to forge a relationship. The proper name for that inside the English Language, is zeugma, a term borrowed from the Greeks.
But there appears to be something there. From a woman’s point of view, rape has been in the news a lot lately. And I don’t mean the physical reporting of actual rapes, they seem to be less than in the past. But the philosophical discussion about rape, has almost dominated the political discussions across this political season.
We have offensive laws proposed requiring wands inserted by strangers up into ones vagina.
We have the Akins physical slip of legitimizing rape in some circumstances.
We have the Bodenweiser situation here in Delaware. As if by being extremely religious, he was beyond reproach.
We have the Murdoch debate from last night. Rape is protected by God.
They show a crack in the Republican armor.
When confronted, the wiggle and try to hide what they meant, which was that rape is a “so what” type of crime.
Here are some of the responses Republicans bring up when confronted by this acceptance of rape as a normal human attribute.
Rapes happen.
She asked for it.
She should have kept herself locked up.
It’s just sex.
She’s lying. She wanted it too.
And if she gets pregnant.
It’s god’s child, not hers.
It’s life; we have to preserve life; the mother is unimportant.
It’s ok to rape if a man wants sex and a woman doesn’t.
The woman is required to be submissive to the man.
She must keep the child, because God is punishing her, and the child is her cross to bear.
I don’t know how many of you sit in cross examinations. But most of you have seen fake ones on television dramas. They are not alike, trust me, but there is one things that reigns true over both. If someone is trying to hide something from you, they don’t come right out and tell you.
Instead you have to look at the peripheral, and use questioning tactics to force them to explain anomalies from their story. What is buried internally, invariably slips out. Then, forcing them to explain those things eventually uncovers that which they are working so hard to hide.
It is safe to say, that the Republican Party has no concern for women. They will use women, but they do not have any concern. It is a man’s world in the Republican Party. And as long as a woman supports the notion that woman must be submissive to man, and she wins votes, she can be a part of that party…..
Is it ok to rape?
Look at the bigger picture.
Rape of the Budget Surplus put in place by Clinton.
Rape of people’s property rights under eminent domain.
Rape of animals rights encouraging wanton killing.
Rape of the earth’s resources, putting profits ahead of cleaning up after themselves.
Rape of Earth’s Climate; encouraging Global Warning.
There is a tendency for Republicans to rape everything they get their hands on.
Look at the rape of Republican Chris Christie’s New Jersey Budget.
Look at the rape of Tea Party’s Rick Scott of Florida’s budget.
Look at the rape of Koch’s Scott Walker, of Wisconsin’s ones prosperous financial health.
Look at the rape of Ronald Reagan’s use of borrowed money to fund his bounce back economic times.
And then contrast that, to the healthy building of mutual sustaining policies that benefit everyone whenever Democrats have full power…..
If Republicans = Rape, then Democrats = Long, lasting, happy marriages…….
Don’t take my word for it. Skim any newspaper.
I remember choosing between Bill Clinton and George Herbert Walker Bush. It was tough. I like competence and usually support it when I find it. George HW Bush, was one of the best when it came to the Foreign Service. His four year reign will be mostly remembered as being one where nothing really happened here, even though cataclysmic changes were erupting all across the world stage. (The real hero of these four years should be Brent Scowcroft.)
But the Soviet Union collapsed, and threw Europe in a turmoil. Nuclear warheads had no one watching them. Tienanmen Square changed China forever as it abandoned the Maoism of old and opened itself to Western Development. Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. Noreiga thumbed the USA.
But at home, it was all like in a newspaper story, far away. Most people didn’t even notice. That is competence. Of course he is probably the most experienced president we’d ever put into the Oval Office. He intimately knew the halls of the House of Representatives from the inside. The knew all the quiet meeting places in the Senate; he knew what being Senator was like. He knew the ins and outs as the head of the nations entire party apparatus. He had the skills on how to deal with China, having been America’s envoy there before. He knew the accumulated intelligence required and the requirements necessary to obtain it. He knew the Oval Office from the inside, having been second in command for 8 years straight. There never was anyone more prepared to run America.
He was stabbed in the back by his own party. The very one that is running against America now. For you see, Bush had inherited Ronald Reagan’s nemisis: his deficit, which is something todays Republicans conveniently forget when they glowingly praise Ronald Reagan for growing wealth and prosperity. He put it all on the nations credit card.
This Bush was determined to use his bipartisanship and people skills to steer Congress to pay down the debt. But, as it always happens. Republicans back then, wanted no new taxes and to cut out necessary programs. Democrats wanted to raise taxes and keep necessary programs. There was an impasse.
George Bush decided to take the exact middle. He would cut, and raise taxes too. If you are really old, you may remember he had run for the Republican Nomination, on “read my lips; no new taxes..” He was going back on his Norquist pledge. Democrats then in the majority, forced the tax rates to rise. The Republicans then said “Fuck you President,” and Republicans tanked the President’s proposal that did both, and would have reduced the deficit by half a trillion dollars!
This petty Republican move, forced Bush to scramble and the only option without Republicans, was to accept the Democratic plan of increased taxes and increased spending. The deficit didn’t shrink. And Republicans, once again ran this nation into the ground, to try to get another Republican elected.
Clinton won instead. He passed a tax increase that Bush didn’t. And unbelievably, the deficit began to shrink, and shrink, and shrink. No one had ever expected to see that in their lifetime, but there is was. Smaller, smaller, and smaller…. The secret is raising taxes. Oh, and by the way, the very day after the tax bill was passed by Congress, with Al Gore casting the tie breaking vote, the stock market took off and never looked back, rising over 300% until it began to appear possible that a Republican, George W Bush might actually beat Al Gore and at that exact point, the market collapsed, only coming out of its decline as America began borrowing to fund the munitions making required after the Iraqi War.
It was just like what Republicans did with the Debt Crises last August. Every time they act irresponsibly, the US begins its slide towards a recession.
The parallelism of these two event in history, teaches us that we can’t have hope and change until we have zero Republicans.
Don’t believe me? Look at the stock market. When Romney looks like he could win, or at least the threat of him winning even appears it could be possible, America takes it’s money out of the stock market. Bain Capital does too, Stocks fall in price as the selling goes off the charts. But just this summer, during that period where Romney seemed to do nothing right, and everything forward hinged on the first debate, and it was obvious that we were going to have a Great Democratic Spring, the money poured into the market and prices gained.
Then the debate. Since Romney won, and Obama lost that debate, that very morning, everyone tried to get out again; the price slid 300 points. All because it was apparent that Romney did so well that he might actually pull it off.
You see, no one trusts Republicans with their money. Certainly not the America people.
Look at the campaigns of Obama versus Romney. Obama has 4 million people who said this race is life or death, and have contributed to his campaign. That is a record number btw. Romney counts $100 million coming in from just 5 people. That’s 40% of all the money he’d risen as of September 1st. As an aside, if elected, who do you think Romney is going to listen to? You? Ha, ha, ha… 🙂
So, the real problem we have, is that anyone will say or promise anything until after the wedding. Then, once the deed is done, the truth comes out. It’s that way with elections. You cannot take gifts from somebody and then totally ignore them. I’ve seen it done by girls in high school, but that is about it. Later in years, they pay the price for their heartlessness of their late teen years. But mature people know that quid pro quo is a requirement of adulthood. It just is. Whether from your mother, your spouse, you children, your friends, your boss, your subordinates, your buddies, if they give you something, you are supposed to give them something back….
That said, one must look at who Obama, supported by 4 million middle class people, and Romney, supported by 5 upper class billionaires, are owing this presidential run….
If you are a billionaire, then Romney will be good for you. If you aren’t and policies that benefit billionaires stick You with the bill, than a Romney victory is something you had better fight against.
Same with Obama. If you are middle class, and policies that benefit the Middle Class also benefit you, then Obama is the only choice you can make. Sorry, the other candidates all copped out.
Most experts agree that if the Republicans had been a non player these past four years, the economy would now be roaring. But when you have one team tearing apart the motor of economic recovery, and the other team trying to build it, progress is going to be slow.
If you just take a second to look over these charts, you can see that as soon as it appears that a Republican might win, the stock market slides downward for three years, until a massive spending program is created off of borrowed money. Pay attention to Reagan’s impact his first year, and George W. Bush’s. As soon as each Republican became the front runner, both killed investment. Only one Republican bucked the trend. George HW. Bush. And the Republican Party ground him up and threw him out as a result.
If you want a better life, you cannot get it from Republicans. It never has happened. It always gets better under a Democrat. If you want a surprise, check out Jimmy Carter?
And money always trumps people, doesn’t it? If someone pisses you off, but they are your money, money usually decides the outcome. When we have to choose between people and money, money always wins. … Simply because we are human.
There is so much money just waiting for the green light that says… Republicans are gone forever…. Once that moment even appears to be imminent, watch out! This economy is roaring back….. Because, it always does under Democrats. Always. It always fails under Republicans …. well not always. George HW Bush, well, I guess it is still true. He was sunk by the same Republican Party that is currently intent upon sinking the Obama administration, and you too, if you let them.
If you love America. Wipe them out. If you have service men and women in your family. Support them and what they were fighting for; wipe out Republicans. If you have a grandfather or grandmother who fought in World War II. Honor them. Wipe out Republicans. If you truly love America, you will not only vote Democratic, but you will make it your life mission these next twenty four days, to persuade every Republican to do the same. Otherwise your expressions of love,… are just hollow words……
America! America!
God mend thine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law.
O beautiful for heroes prov’d
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country lov’d,
And mercy more than life.
“For more than self their country loved”……. It is time our generation answers the call. Releasing the locked up economic power is the most important thing we can do right now for our country. We have to make Republicans go away… As long as they hang around, gumming up the works, at it’s best… America can and will only reach mediocre levels.
Make them go away. Tell your friends, you neighbors, your countrymen. America is a great nation. It can be that way again, if we only do one single thing…
You already know what that is.
One year ago, September 8th, 2011, the greatest President in our lifetime (you may not agree now, but you will, you will) laid out the American’s Jobs Act.
The plan included stimulus spending in the form of immediate infrastructure investments, tax credits for working Americans and employers to encourage consumer spending and job growth, and efforts to shore up state and local budgets to prevent further layoffs of teachers, firefighters, police officers, and other public safety officials…..
IT NEVER BECAME LAW.
One month later, the GOP blocked the bill in the Senate, preventing the creation of more than a million jobs and the added growth that multiple economists predicted would occur if the bill passed…..
1 million jobs, Republicans like Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell, and every single person running this election under the banner of Republicanism… cost you..
1 million jobs. One million jobs.
Jobs bills are seeds that usually sprout and give fruit in other jobs. If ten people in your community suddenly get jobs, they will spend some of that in your community. It could be groceries. It could be gasoline, It could be the Indian liquor store. It could be Radio Shack. But they get it. When the government creates jobs, we get the benefit.
Republicans killed 1 million jobs. Why? So Obama would not get re-elected.
Where would unemployment be now?
12.5 million unemployed minus 1 million employed equals= 11.5 million unemployed. Today our rate would be with no additional growth in the private sector, 7.4% (11.5/154.6= 7.4%)
Republicans are the reason our economy sucks. They didn’t want Obama to do his thing…. and grow those jobs…..
Here is what others said the Jobs Bill, killed by Republicans so Obama wouldn’t get elected, ……
–Moody’s Analytics estimated the American Jobs Act would create 1.9 million jobs and add two percent to gross domestic product.
–The Economic Policy Institute estimated it would create 2.6 million jobs and protect an addition 1.6 million existing jobs.
–Macroeconomic Advisers predicted it would create 2.1 million jobs and boost GDP by 1.5 percent.
–Goldman Sachs estimated it would add 1.5 percent to GDP.
Republican Tea Partiers have also cut 700,000 jobs since 2010. Public-sector job cuts also cause job loss in the private sector, for a couple of reasons. First, public-sector workers need to use inputs into their work that are sourced by the private sector. Firefighters need trucks and hoses, police officers need cars and radios, and teachers need books and desks. When public-sector jobs are lost, it stands to reason that the inputs into these jobs will fall as well, and indeed research shows that for every public-sector job lost, roughly 0.43 supplier jobs are lost.
And they blame Obama? Gee, what a great president we have who has to work with garbage and still, does what is right for the American people. 96,000 brand new, never before, created jobs in July…. Surely we live in the times of the “Best President Ever”
If America can just wipe out every single Republican on the ballot, whose party is solely responsible for the crash in 2008, the fall in 2009, the crises in 2011… today’s sluggish growth… we would get roaring.
Republicans can do no right. At least when it comes to your money…
Their money? Oh, no problem.. “I’ll bet you $10,000 dollars, right here….”
The headlines should read:
OBAMA GROWS 96,000 JOBS DESPITE REPUBLICANS CONTROLLING HOUSE.
Now that, is a proper headline.
