Would any American support a law imposed on us by the Soviet Union?

Would any American support a law imposed on us by Communist China?

Would any American support a law imposed on us by Islamic Iran?

Would any American support a law imposed on us by Mexico?

Would any American support a law imposed on us by Canada?

Would any New Yorker support a law imposed on them by South Carolina?

Would any South Carolinian support a law imposed on them by New York?

Would any Delawarean support a law imposed on them by Alaska?

When put in this perspective, the phrase…”it’s the law…” rings rather hollow…

It’s the law… of what? It’s the law of…. who? It’s the law decided by whom?…… What reference does this law have to me?

Such is every Americans feeling to corporate law… These laws were applied to the lawbooks without our knowledge. These laws were applied to the lawbooks without our approval… There laws were applied to the lawbooks not in an open environment, but subtlely sneaked in, unannounced, unnoticed, unapproved, unsubstantiated, and unconstitutional…..

These laws that are being upheld, benefit a very thin percentage of people, a razor thin percentage of people. at the expense of the majority…..

Rick Santorium stands up and states we are a nation of law. We follow the rule of law…

Yes, we will follow a rule of law onto which a majority of us signs on to… But nowhere in our contract with America did we agree to follow laws that have not been sanctioned by the Constitution as being legal. Nowhere in our contract with America, did we agree to follow the phantom that corporations were human beings. that corporations had just as much right as people to write laws, get them passed, and then uphold them… as if they were people….

There are times when breaking the law, is better than following it…

So, can someone tell me again, why we shouldn’t tax the rich, and instead, balance the budget on the backs of everyone else?…….

I seem to be missing that little detail where that all makes sense……

Definition: Where American spending was brought up to the level where it should be, without the necessary revenue to support it.

(As evidenced by 154,000 private sector jobs being created in July.)

The problem is not with spending. The problem is the lack of taxing of the top 1%. The spending seems to be doing its job.

Lol, I told you.

And now we have it: a very clear choice. Maybe I’m the only one who is tired of parceling beans, putting some in this pile, others in that, and then counting up the totals to see which has more… A fight between Mike Castle and Chris Coons would be just that…

Instead, I wanted a clear fight, one that doesn’t even have to go nasty-ad personal to make the news… IN FACT, THE PERSONAL IS SOOO BORING, compared to the energy of what this battle of ideas will generate.

We have: Abortion versus Choice
Low Taxes versus Large Debt
Religion versus Science
Family values versus Economic Growth
Slashing Services versus Helping Those Less Fortunate
Carbon Fuels versus Nonpolluting Ones
Mommy versus Dad.

Lucky us. We have a sexy Mom (oo-la-la) and sexy Dad (hubba hubba) fighting it out… Anyway…..

Here are my predictions. This election will be way, way too close to call. It will be so close that the green and blue Castle-lites will quickly forgive and eagerly join in with the O’Donnell Blues…

This election will be the most exciting one in most living Delawarean’s memories. It will involve multiple local visits by the next presidential elections biggest names.

This election will redefine political boundaries for the next twelve years… Not officially, but this one set’s up the next election coming up in two years.

Most important, it opens up the dialogue of ideas
. The official Republican Party is dead. That’s the party of platitudes, or platypussys, (which is it? I forgot. )

Real people put in a candidate, one not supported by the party, one even disparaged by the party, one horribly ridiculed vociferously by the party… and guess what? …..

The people said ” yeah, that may be so…. but she is still much better than anything you got!!!! ..”

That’s a pretty damning indictment.

Christine now has the valid claim to be the one being of the people, for the people and (to win an election) by the people. To go against that, no matter who the opponent, is a very scary force to reckon with. Although oblivious to it now, Coons is is in trouble, and had better get his good ideas out there right now while Christine is reeling from her victory over the storming of the Bastille….

Likewise, everyone official who dissed her, whether blogger, think tank, or otherwise, obviously has interests that counteract those held dear-to-heart by real people. They have been proven to speak with forked tongues.

The People have spoken, just like they did with Obama. Each might cringe to be associated with the other, but both were fresh candidates in their respective races. If one looks at the big picture stretching over two parties, one hears the People saying “the old is not working. Let’s do something different…. ”

I’ve been calling for the death of the Republican Party, and so far, after each election after their peak in 2004, I have been correct; that party’s power has shrunk exponentially. However, Christine, has rejuvenated Conservatism in this state better than anything I could have done or said. For they( conservatives) are tired of being put down, stomped on, dismissed, pooh-poohed, cussed at, sexually intimidated, beaten up, suckered punched, laughed at, lip flipped, weasel wedged, wet Willied, bitch slapped, nipple tucked, and then be dismissed as inconsequential by a handful of men in Greenville with way too much money?

And now, conservatism has found a natural outlet to unleash all that energy pent up since the official Republican Party decided to cater to millionaires instead of Conservatives. Like a tiny wedge in a sand dam, all that pent up energy, will change the landscape these next few weeks ..

But will Conservatism work? Ahh, that is another question and will be one debated in another post.. Right now, I have to get back and celebrate with the lovely Ms. O’Donnell, her coming out party… 🙂

Do the details really matter?

Today there was much talk around the blogosphere of establishing an alternative form of media which provides the real news, which the powerful find  too embarassing to be published in  News Journal.  Gannett, by the way, has announced laying off 1000 more people…  As paper’s die, blogs grow.

Here is a stream of consciousness writing by one of our frequent commentators: Call It.

Here is the line: I feel that those here in the Delaware blogosphere would do Delawareans a service to provide a well thought out and well examined take on stories breaking locally. We need to separate ourselves from the main news sources, just like Showtime does from the main entertainment channels, and challenge our viewers to a more sophisticated way of looking at the world.

Then in a comment stream on Northington’s blog, I still remember a time when journalists posed tough questions and tackled issues of importance rather than pandering to the rich and powerful. We need a return to accountability and responsibility in our nation today.

This came as a response. I think journalists need to band together and form their own papers. The Old Guard has to be challenged.

And this from a letter to Steve Newton of Delaware Libertarian:

Finally, our nation – and especially the national media – needs to witness an avalanche of support made possible by a dedicated group of Americans who truly love liberty and will fight to get it back.

Being hit by three similar snippets on three separate blogs, from a logical frame means nothing. After all I have flipped a coin with heads three times in a row. But on an emotional frame, if one connects the dots, it appears that the emphasis on truth has left the mainstream media…..

Now I’m not naive enough to believe old newsmen never lied…. But today, it would be acceptable to say today’s version never tell the truth. Instead, they “present” sides.

I was just reading a local paper’s coverage on Watergate back in ’74, and realized that when people read those stories, (perhaps with Elvis playing in the background), they felt they were getting the truth. That refreshing feeling is found today only from international press.. Why? My guess is that since this is not their country, and because they have the dubious distinction of explaining our abnormalities to their citizens back home,….. they write what actually happens…. Not as I am afraid every American paper today is guilty of……writing what they want to happen…..

Were I a Gannet newspaper based out of Basin Road, New Castle, anxious to get readership back in tow, I would enlist a blogger to write a daily column for them. Offer No charge and guarantee no editorial control….

Suddenly, not knowing what to expect…. might make reading a newspaper fun again……
