With the advent of tremendous amounts of wealth in the hands of one or two, we have become immune to all movements over the probability that they most likely are astro-turfed by one or two people in order to orchestrate something only they can take proper advantage.
The best movements arise out of nothing…
When you as an individual decide, “you know, I think I’ll head down to the demonstration and check it out, sort of to see what’s going on”, then a movement is about to happen.
Demonstrations who get their fire from over-organization, as in “Make sure you show up for this demonstration to show support” tend to be shallow…
Examples of the two?
March on Selma for the first: protesting Keystone XL at Carper’s Wilmington office for the 2nd.
One very effective; the other not so much.
One shows popular support? the other, meh.

The opt-out movement needs only 7000 opt-opters to meet its objective… However, if the movement is to make a dent similar as did the firing of shells into Fort Sumter 155 years ago, it needs to turn heads.
The test begins in March… There are roughly 4 weeks to make a dent….. Start talking it up.
Every parent who loves their child, needs to keep their child home on days their school is tested.
The school is required to tell parents when the tests are given.. Any hedging by school officials needs to be reported …
Your representatives… those people whose jobs are beholden to YOU are the most trustworthy in which to confide your complaints over any specific school official.

Screech…. Stop…. Whoa, there… Did that just happen?
Did someone just mention George W. Bush?
In the heat of the campaign, there has been no mention of the two term predecessor, who left office just 2 years plus, ago…. However, the president previous to this unmentioned two term republican,… yeah him? Remember that one? The one who was only the second president to ever be impeached? The one who actually had some type of sexual experience in the White House with someone other than his wife, the one who despite that, still left office with a 66% approval rating, the one who gets called back to each convention for a keynote address?
But until now, no one, not one person during the campaign, has dared whispered the words to muddy the waters with memories about George W. Bush… Not even Voldermort’s name was muttered less….
WE all know why…..
So why would anyone vote to continue that legacy in November? The only reason is because of a monstrous vacuum in the media, one that allows one-sided arguments to go unchallenged across it’s pages and its airwaves….

Rick Santorum told CNN on Sunday that he regretted voting for the No Child Left Behind education law Bush championed.
In a presidential contest dominated by concerns over the weak economy, government spending and the $15 trillion federal debt, the Republican candidates have been loath to acknowledge the extent to which Bush administration policies contributed to those problems. Republicans also controlled Congress for six of the eight years Bush was in the White House, clearing the way for many of his policies to be enacted.
Remember, Republicans inherited a surplus when they took over power. First thing they did, was blow it with a tax cut costing $1.8 Trillion. Then, they funded two wars on borrowing, so the wealthy wouldn’t have to pay any more in taxes, costing everyday Americans, $1.4 trillion… Then the Bush Gift to pharmaceuticals which gave seniors prescriptions to be funded by borrowing, put another $1.2 trillion. Compared to the Bush cumulative damage, $4.4 Trillion, the Obama TARP plan, his effective effort to stop the free falling economy, has a diminutive price tag of $000.7 Trillion amounting to causing only 16% of the deficit problem.
Simple math shows us that 84% of the deficit problem was created from out of a surplus, by a majority Republican government…
84% Republican’s fault: 16% Democrats fault.. It is no wonder the name of the former president, is missing in action…..

So, can someone tell me again, why we shouldn’t tax the rich, and instead, balance the budget on the backs of everyone else?…….

Eric Cantor was tipped off early that the firm of Standard and Poors was going to devalue the dollar, irregardless of whatever deal they came up with.
Prior to the devaluation of America’s Treasury bonds, Eric Cantor had sent a letter (how did he know…), warning the Tea Party Republicans that pressure to raise taxes would be ratcheted up by the upcoming Standard and Poor’s devaluation….
He was right… Thank goodness, after 12 years, with this devaluation, we are finally starting to hear a few of the common sense arguments on the main stream media, that illustrate for all… that raising taxes to “now” be our best economy grower.. .
If you read Standard and Poors correctly, their report implies that the Tea Parties line (the one about NOT raising taxes), IS the primary obstacle that prevents the fixing of America’s debt problems… By implication, that makes the election of Tea Party candidates, the sole reason our bonds were devalued. (On the other hand, according to the ratings agencies, Obama receives high marks for his part in trying to make a better life for all Americans.)
In a secret email, Eric Cantor says…..
“Over the next several months, there will be tremendous pressure on Congress to prove that S&P’s analysis of the inability of the political parties to bridge our differences is wrong. In short, there will be pressure to compromise on tax increases. We will be told that there is no other way forward. I respectfully disagree.” Eric Cantor
He knew well in advance…
He continues….
“We have said from the beginning of the year, the new Republican Majority was elected to change the way Washington does business. We were not elected to raise taxes or take more money out of the pockets of hard working families and business people. People understand Washington can’t keep spending money that it doesn’t have. They want to see less government – not more taxes.
Back up: we were not elected to…. take more money out of the pockets of hard working families and business people……..
No one said anything about more taxes for the 99% on the bottom… At issue is how much to tax the 1% on the top…
Taxing the top 1% at a marginal rate of 40% and increasing capital gains taxes to a rate of 40%…… actually PUTS MORE MONEY BACK INTO THE POCKETS OF HARD WORKING FAMILIES AND THOSE BUSINESS PEOPLE RUNNING THE ESTABLISHMENTS THOSE FAMILIES CHOOSE TO PATRONIZE……..
So you see, Mr. Cantor.. Raising taxes on the top 1% is not a conflict of interest for you… You said so yourself….. We’ll support you in not raising taxes on the bottom 99%…
Raising taxes on just the top 1%, is good.. WHAM!!!!! It jump-starts the economy…. Whereas,….
Cutting taxes for the top 1%, is bad… We all know this is fact. You don’t need me to explain it; you know just from living through the past 12 years of the Bush Tax cuts… The last 12 years have made the Clinton Tax Hike Years in comparison, seem like the true Guilded Age..Gosh, it seems like so, so long ago, when everything was perfect.

Tax Cuts kill jobs. Always have… always will….
(but what is really, truly, profoundly sad, is this exhortation from Eric Cantor) “When given the choice between bettering the American economy, and getting more Republicans in power, you better vote for getting more Republicans in power…Our new motto: F*ck the economy!”)
Today the White House issued this Executive Order.
“Should the debt ceiling not be lifted in time by May 16, in order to prevent the Treasury from running out of funds, I am hereby using the emergency powers given to the Chief Executive by the Constitution, to temporarily suspend the Bush Tax Cuts until: 1) either we can legally borrow the funds to continue paying on our commitments, or 2) we bring our debt down to the 2008 level by having much more tax revenue pour in.
This is in effect, immediately, and I have instructed the IRS to recalculate all 2010 tax forms over the level of $2 million dollars, and asses those individuals and companies, for the differences.
We must take this action because Republicans want to pay politics with your lives. As Chief Executive, I am responsible to you, not them. I won’t let that happen.
With these tax cuts out of the way, and with our austerity programs already in effect, that windfall of profit the Treasury will receive, will be entirely funneled towards the paying off our debt.
This policy will continue until Republicans can act reasonably and in a productive fashion.

Is ex-president Bush hard of hearing?
At a recent SMU sypmposium he had the opportunity to take questions from a number of midwestern students, whose residencies ranged from Fargo to Texas. The moderator, C Span’s Brian Lamb said “we have enough time for one more student question”….
“Their questions aren’t stupid….”
Thinking it was a joke, Brian quickly explained I said….”S T U D E N T” question….
As if nothing was said at all, …. “I think they’re pretty good questions. Not stupid at all…..”
The host stayed silent…..
“In fact, their questions are better than yours …….” …
Things moved on… Those of us watching kinda laughed a little, remembering some episodes along both campaign trails and in front of cameras… Some things never change….
But there are a couple of things to ponder. When asked what he was most proud of, his rapid response was to increase money to help Africa with AIDS.
He did, over the dead body of his party, pursue and get passed, large increases to fight AIDS.
“It was a national security issue, or one that would become one in the next generation. Imagine a child seeing his parents dying from AIDS, and the richest country, with unimaginable wealth relative to him, stood by and offered nothing?”
“We had the capacity to do something, and with little sacrifice to us, .. we did it.”
This, not only is a window into the soul of a man but also illuminates that which makes the soul of this country, great. This nation, which was at the time preparing to unilaterally invade another country while unprovoked, was simultaneously funding the largest amount ever voted, to help impoverished African countries combat a killer disease. In other words, the US is not all bad.
And secondly, the Bush tax cuts made it two more years beyond their expiration. That is a lasting legacy. Even though I argue those cuts are the sole reason this nation’s economy is in the bed it’s lying in, even though the opposite party held all the cards, they still got a buy for two more years. That means something. One can’t say they were a worthless mistake that bankrupted the government, railroaded through both chambers by ignorant Republicans at the expense of our country.. …. because we passed them again.
All one can say now,….. it that our government is economically illiterate. 🙂
Today former first lady Laura Bush praised the performance of her husband’s successor Monday, breaking with many Republicans in telling CNN that she thinks President Obama is doing a good job under very tough circumstances.
She also criticized Washington’s sharp political divide during an interview covering a range of topics including her thoughts on first lady Michelle Obama, former Vice President Dick Cheney, the situation in Afghanistan and Myanmar, and life after eight tumultuous years in the White House.
It goes to show us all, despite evidence to the contrary, that Republicans aren’t all bad. In fact, once there is no longer any political motivation involved, they can be quite reasonable…
We only call them out because their party does very foolish things. But it is a very rare republican, perhaps one out of 100,000 who is just dumb.. Unfortunately due to the rigid controls imposed by their party’s leadership, they are the only ones allowed to ever be given a microphone..
So, please recognize that all republicans aren’t stupid… It is perhaps as I said, just the ones given a microphone, or a keyboard, or who don’t care about policy, who we poke fun at.
Isn’t it time they do some internal damage control? If they ever want to be taken seriously, they should be praising, as did Laura Bush, the best president we have yet to have in our lifetime. Because exactly like those republicans who set their party back thirty years during the forties, by opposing everything Roosevelt did that was right. each time they castigate what America does best, they dig their grave deeper and deeper, one shovelful at a time.
If only this had been offered up as evidence to the Supreme Court in December 2000.
