There is a trend to use teacher absenteeism to demean public schools. The pro-charter writers cherry pick cities and tell how poorly public teacher attendance is, then compare that to teacher attendance at charters. They often use their own data and they ignore the empirical test evidence showing charter schools are still inferior when it comes to their students retaining knowledge. But without union contracts, charter teachers can not have the same number of personal days most public employees are given.

Rhode Island was ranked number 1 with the worst attendance. Utah was ranked 50th, with the best….
