See New York…
New York unions have targeted Common Core. Particularly they are upset by the integration of the new Common Core tests into teachers’ evaluations, which they say has led to many teachers not passing muster on the the evaluations.
Here in this blog we have thoroughly covered these tests which are designed to make most students fail. (Take them yourself here)…
60% of Kentucky’s children have already failed. 70% of New York’s children failed this past year.
New York’s teachers’ unions are demanding that state Commissioner John King work to establish a three-year moratorium on using common-core-aligned test results for judging schools, students, or teachers
3 year moratorium.
By then they might fix the test,… you think?
Two legislators have called for the state Commissioner’s resignation. But the real suprise is that NYSUT President Richard Iannuzzi hinted in a statement that the union might support the call for King’s ouster if he isn’t willing to support a moratorium: “If Commissioner King doesn’t understand that NYSUT’s call for a moratorium is not a distraction but rather a genuine call for a course correction, then we need someone who does.”
We now compare the to the voice of Delaware’s teachers union… DSEA….
Tune on WDEL during a commercial break….” Hi, I’m Fredericka Jenner, head of the Delaware’s teachers union… Going back to school is a difficult time……
What? All we here is a public service message about going back to school????
To paraphrase the message of New York’s Teacher’s Union head….
“If the head of DSEA’s union doesn’t understand that our teachers wish for a similar moratorium is not a distraction but rather a genuine call for a course correction, then we need someone who does.”
