They are getting mad at the adminstrators, the test makers, the NY Department of Education, and “the Bloomberg” who was pushing “rigor” so hard.

They are choosing to opt out….

I can hear them around the dinner table now… “That ridiculous. You’ve always gotten the highest marks before. Not until they fix the damn test to what it was, are  you taking it again.. You are opting out.”

In Buffalo, 2500 parents turned up at a rally to protest the tests.

Parents, particularly at elite schools in Manhattan and Brooklyn, have withdrawn their children from testing this year, joining a broader nationwide opt-out movement.

At South Side Middle School in Rockville Centre, on Long Island, more than half of the eighth-grade class, 134 out of 260 students, opted out of the exams,

Linden Avenue Middle School in the Hudson Valley town of Red Hook, where 55 out of 480 students opted out…

In Florida… “you have hundreds of thousands of voters who concerned about his… (Common Core)…

61 schools across New York state, including 47 in New York City, are flat-out refusing to participate in the latest round of tests …

Assemblyman Al Graf  joined by 24 other NY state lawmakers is writing a bill (A07994) that would withdraw New York from the Common Core Curriculum and national Race To The Top initiative…

Students entering ninth grade on or after July 1, 2010 and before July 1, 2014 may qualify for participation in the Ohio Core Opt Out program. Eligible students may graduate without having completed the Ohio Core Curriculum prescribed by state law.

Finally here is a  HIgh Stakes Testing Opt Out Form  which one can use nationwide for opting out of the testing that goes with Common Core.

Across this nation, seeds are sprouting… New York’s 30% debacle woke parents up.

“I don’t want that to happen to my child“. parents said……
