Yes.
She is in tune with her constituents. It is her party who isn’t.
I was saddened to hear her Good Samaritan Bill was caught up in the maelstrom of Republican bills that must be shut out due to there just not being enough time to consider it. Had she been of the Democratic caucus, her bill could have been heard with majority of social legislation pieces that were vetted last month.
Her constituents deserve having a Democrat in power, and they deserve Cathy Clouthier. If she switches parties, they can indeed have both.
Switching parties is no big deal. Ronald Reagan did it.

Her bill has now been assigned to the SHHSC on Wednesday. Supposedly Hall-Long (Chair) wasn’t contacted about it before the agenda was published and has now added it. Still, the huge majority of bills being worked are DEM bills and there are only 10 more working days for the Assembly in session this year. That is a shame that we have part-time part-year legislators and so little gets done.

Works amounts to the time given it… That is an old maxim told me by a New Dealer, and I have to say it is true. What that means is that our legislature would accomplish exactly the same if we had them work all year. 3/4ths a year, half a year, or just 3 months… The same people would vote the same way. The same delays would delay the same way.
When you have tight deadlines, you meet them…
I’ve been wanting to address the backlog of Republican bills and it doesn’t warrant a post by itself, so I’ll mention it here… When someone makes the charge that dem bills get green lights, and repub bills get red lights it sounds like party politics…
But look at the reality. You have your side, and their side. Your side has a super majority. You have 10 days to get things done, You are backed up. If it were you versus Paul Clark,….. 🙂 ….. would you push what you wanted to go through, or what he wanted to go through? You can’t do both because time runs out.
Most likely the important bills are going to be worked this week, including HB 165 and either be tabled or held for a last minute “hail mary”, and then the flood gates of all the junk, and most of the Republican bills are just that, .(.stuff to make them look good back home but not moving the state forward in any way,) will be let loose to all be voted down…

Kavips asks… Should Cathy Cloutier become a Democrat? : Delaware Liberal
[…] He makes the point that she is the one who is in touch with her constituents, and her party is not, thus explaining all the votes that go against her party (universal background check, lost and stolen gun reporting, marriage equality, death penalty repeal). But that is not the reason for switching parties…. […]
