Astra Zenica is closing out 1200 jobs. Just think if the Port of Wilmington was going to be losing jobs as well?
Corporate entities are one thing. but good old fashioned labor unions are what provide stability to an entire city.

Nice job Governor. The results are getting old with this guy. fisker, AZ, Jobs that never materialize at BofA and Amazon (less than promised) and after all that capital.
Meanwhile, screwing up schools with bad policy just drones on for this guy

This is an interesting blast from the past, considering that Markell spoke at the Committee of 100 monthly meeting last night as he did as covered in this Oct. 2008 article with high praise for the AZ deal

DEDO millions given to AZ about 2 years ago was another failed attempt to do what!! Glad the Port is still a state asset which was also promised to create jobs. Taxpayer dollars given to corporations must have standards of accountability to sustain local jobs that pay a livable wage. Where do we go from here- Employee-Owned Cooroperative Business Models? Worth a Try.

Rob, that is a great comparison.
One, we went the corporate route giving incentives to keep jobs and lost 1200.
Two, we kept union jobs intact and will continue to receive the benefit of that income for many years, by chasing away a corporate raider….
Hmmm. Which method is the more productive in the long term?
