(title is a chess reference).
There is no worse thing on this planet than a negotiator who agrees to a certain policy, waits for it to get set in stone, and then, just before that policy is implemented, says, no, I’m not for it anymore. People like that are called Finks.
That type of action turned all of America against the Tea Party who actually made it their career to say “we won’t agree until we get this”, and when they got “this” they stormed out anyway, saying “that is not enough, we won’t agree until we get that, and more…” and followed the same process over and over and over again…
There is nothing worse than people who do that….
The Catholic Bishops today are saying the compromise in which health insurers bear the cost of contraception, is not enough, even though it meets their objection of not having any Catholic money go towards paying for contraception…
That actually was a huge concession. Catholic hospitals and schools will not have to pay for contraception, but it will be available for all women who work there to use if they choose.
The current position being taken by the Catholic Bishops actually goes against Church doctrine as well as the teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, himself….
(Remember, this is the exact same group that thought the best way to deal with priests who preyed Sandusky-like on alter boys, was to whisk them away where those guilty could abuse others who innocently had no idea beside whom they were serving the sacrament.)
The same group.
Bottom line, like the guilty priests, the Catholic Bishops got what they wanted. End of discussion. Any more discussion against this policy, and it becomes extremely obvious it is being done to support the Republican Party. The Church has been bought out by the 1%….
Back to why, prohibiting contraception in one way, violates the core spirit of the teachings of Jesus.
“Blessed are the Poor, for they shall inherit the earth”. “Give all you have to the poor, and you will then be able to enter the Kingdom of God.”
Obviously, if you don’t help the poor, you go to hell… Jesus could not have been more specific or clear.
When you don’t allow a woman to NOT GET PREGNANT, you force her out of being self sufficient, into becoming dependent on poverty.
Being against birth control forces women into poverty. Think about it. If you are single on a $40,000 job, and pregnant, you are out of $40,000 and have no income. Not only is the Catholic Church NOT GIVING ALL THEY OWN TO HELP THE POOR, but without free contraception, they are creating more and more poor, pregnant woman by pregnant woman, by the very position they take….

Joy riding the “Combination of Church/State” bus
When the church knows of and ignores the rules of humanity, the laws of the state and the rules of the church allowing sins of catholic priests (males only,) it makes one question everything, like why the leaders of the church, focus so overpoweringly, on women’s reproductive systems, by wanting to cut off their insurance access to reproductive health care. The same catholic leadership, that kept criminal catholic priests and bishops out of prison, enabled priests to continue until they had to be pulled off of the alter boys, only because they were exposed by victims sometimes decades later, as running a free, world wide pedophile orgy. Most of those priest’s sexual activities (81%) were directed at non offspring producing young males. So it is odd, that the bishops openly are accusing the government of creating non producing women to be made available under insurance coverage of catholic institutions. In a free society, no woman is forced to chose sex or birth control; it is a freedom of choice, even if they are catholic and married. Note: Birth control has been available to the majority of men and women all along, only the very same participants, had to pay for it.
It is too noteworthy not to note: that the Bishops did not even alert the parents that priest are using children for sex, or at least, that known pedophiles are in the church, running youth camps, etc.
There is another option. Reproductive health care for those who can’t afford it, similar to housing, utilities, food. If men or women are medically unfit, delusional, starving, on the street addicted to cocaine, but married catholic, would the bishops say, when sex occurs, a child must be born into the situation.
Because it is offered for free, millions of men/women could choose/or not, to use it in an effective way, contrary to what Santorum says, “You don’t need insurance for these relatively small expenditures,” when the reality is, millions of men/women can’t afford birth control, even those not in poverty. Most with $50 to spend, would choose to keep the electric, the car, running.
Also, examine this again: Santorum quote: “You don’t need insurance for these relatively small expenditures.” He’s saying, the “INSURANCE” co shouldn’t have to buy it. Importantly, he is not saying, don’t use birth control, don’t do it.
So catholics and the republican presidential hopefuls, are riding on the same bus, but for different reasons: religious…political.
So the question is, is Santorum just screwing around on a fleeting, ‘Freedom of Religion’ joy ride? Or will Santorum say, all married and unmarried catholics must not use birth control. The question should be posed to Santorum. The voting public would most likely see, he’s along for a combo church and state joy ride because he thinks it will take him further down the road.
Obama is “simultaneously ensuring religious freedom and women’s access to health care.”
Odd bedfellows they are, the bishops and the republicans. Catholic bishops have rejected the “accommodation.”
If republicans plan to continue to call for a “Combination of Church and State” government, then republican presidential hopefuls, need to make their position clear on this: 1) Catholics can, or 2) Catholic cannot, have insurance company supplied birth control.”
