As one can see there is a lot of competition for offshore wind… At one point in time, Delaware was poised to become the center of offshore wind manufacturing. Unless we move quickly, that place in history will be lost….
And just like our once ground-breaking New Castle- Frenchtown Railroad, although considerable investment was put in place to get it running, the rest of the world quickly passed us by…. because Delawaeans did what Delawearns do… sit on their hands…
We need to court GE with all the good reasons why they should build their new 5.0 offshore turbines here in Delaware. We need to spawn the development of an offshore tower construction company set up in Lewes. We need the MAPP lines connecting DC to our coast to continue forward quickly without interruption. Furthermore, we need to get NRG moving on building Bluewater Wind as fast as possible. Finally we need Delaware’s political contingent, including the Vice President, to create the tension always necessary to make bureaucratic things “happen”..
Time is wasting; we are sleeping.. The alarms gone off; it’s time to WAKE UP!.

It was with some dismay that I read the NJ article on the Bluewater Wind Project. Although it may be convenient to criticize NRG’s reluctance to financially commit to start up of this proposal I feel we should be concentrating on the failure of the Obama administration to honor its promises and commitments to renewable energy growth.
The loan guarantee programs and energy credit discussion has been ongoing for years now. It was acknowledged by the current investor, NRG, and previous investors, BWW as a sole owner and BWW with Babcock and Brown as financial support, that it was necessary to secure and keep investor commitment by having these guarantees/subsidies in place or at least in place for extended years.
The Obama administration and even the previous Bush administration were well aware of this. (I personally talked to one of President Bush’s Undersecretary of the Interior some four years ago in New Orleans about the need for an accelerated Federal Permit process and extended loan/subsidy guarantees). The current administration failed to act when it had a numerical advantage in congress and it continues to fail to exert any pressure to wean our energy commitments/policies from the big oil companies and place our national policy on a true renewable energy path.
It’s not unaffordable but requires some political courage and acumen that I see lacking in this administration.
Thank you,

Dear John.
The failure of the Obama administration on this and other things, is not example of a lack of will, but more of a failure on our part, to give him a Congress that he wouldn’t have to negotiate with. We can talk about the majority all we want, but in truth, under our Constitution, none of that matters as long as the Senate voted less then 60% yes… The fact that America was able to set its course towards a budget surplus by the majority of only 1 vote in 1992 (the Vice President was the tie breaker), does not change the fact that Obama’s majority had to be in excess of 10 votes in 2009!
Even worse, we dropped the ball the last election, so now, our president has fewer options than he once had…
The” failure” is ours, and for the most part, mine… I didn’t do what I had to do, to eradicate the cancer of conservatism for good.
You are a political figure; You know, depending upon your support, that sometimes you attack, other times you defend. You realise that Obama is simply manoeuvring through the territory we, the American people, have given him.
Currently, what we need to do is maximise the opportunity the Tea Party has given us, out in Wisconsin, as well as the Ryan Medicare Catastrophe, even adding in the freshman Republican willingness to throw our country to the dogs for a contribution or two.. We need to bury the Conservative Cause so deep, expose it for all its flaws, that no sane man or woman will vote for it ever again in their lifetime. Which, if all sane men and women simply realised what they stand for, …. would take place without us saying anything….
Yes, we can wring our hands over the president’s recalcitrance… but, have we done our part, or our share of the part? Have we ever missed, or let an opportunity go by without exposing the faulty, selfish motive behind whatever happens to be the current irrationality the Republicans expose?
If we let even one instance go past, we have failed our fellow Americans…
Bottom line, there is a party of Truth; and a party of Lies…. That is unequivocal fact… It the party of truth is quiet, then lies fill the room….
