I was hoping some of my Republican friends could shed some light on what has happened within their party…
It is as if they woke up and realized while they were passed out, everyone left their party and didn’t bother waking them when they left… They were there just for the free beer.
I guess they are just discovering that they are losers all along….
You have probably heard the reports echoing up and down the campaign trail. No matter how the political leaders try to keep their rallies civilized, the people showing up are demanding only blood…. not truth, not forgiveness, none of their esteemed Christian values whatsoever… Like thirsty Romans at a Christian beheading they scream and yell for “no quarters”…..
The Republican party has lost its soul…
They are pathetic.
They are sick.
Just for fun, I thought I would visit Fox News to see how they would try to spin this element of hate into a glorious celebration of the raw spirit that makes America what it is…
I was shocked…
They too, condemned it……. like everyone else….
No I don’t need to tell you, that if Fox News condemns the Republican Party, then Republicans MUST REALLY SUCK.
Don’t waste your time calling me partisan… tell it to Fox News….
McCain is trying to tone down the over-the-top, extremist and bigoted rhetoric coming from his supporters with a simple message “it’s got to be respectful.” It did not go over that well among some of his hardcore Republican base who repeatedly booed the GOP nominee and that message today. It was really a must see.
First of all, I want to be president of the United States and obviously I do not want Senator Obama to be, but I have to tell you. I have to tell you, he is a decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared as president of the United States.” (BOOS)
“He was booed multiple times for calling for respect and at one point had to grab the mic from one supporter who called Obama an Arab and defended him as a “decent family man citizen.”
His first call for civility after being asked for a “real fight” next Wednesday captures it:
17:41:57 And we want to fight, and I will fight but we will be respectful. I admire Senator Obama and his accomplishments. I will respect him (BOOOOOOSSS) and I want—- (BOOS) 17:42:10 I want everyone to be respectful and let make sure we are because that’s the way politics should be conducted. So lets make sure that we are all respectful.
There appears to be one Republican who is maintaining his composure in the midst of this mob frenzy, and that is John McCain himself….
But those wackos in his party… The ones who haven’t a clue…
Can Hube, Burris, Frank Knotts, John Feroce, Shirley, David Anderson, possibly explain to the rest of us what has happen to their party; why it has suddenly lost its mind and is flailing about without any coordination or control?
No way can a Republican be trusted in any position of power….if this is what they are…
So says Fox News.

Well, I have to say that is disgusting behavior, but is your conclusion logical? The guy looking to be a republican in power was the one calling for respect and the one who you said was maintaining his composure.
Now, I don’t want McCain as President, but given the point of the story, isn’t a composed, respectful republican exactly the kind that we’d want to have in office, if a republican is going to gain one?
Judging a candidate by the actions of his crowd is a logical fallacy that, if I were to indulge, I wouldn’t be voting for Obama due to the behavior of some of his supporters. Present company excluded.

Sen McCain deserves credit for being a professional.
In the end both parties have problems with policies and people. Politics is a contact sport.
Locally, there are many reasons why the GOP has fallen short. Kavips, feel free to contact me.

Joe, let me try to paint the danger I was describing in a metaphor… Imagine if you had a form of cancer that “cylon”ically took over your body’s willful functions…Imagine if… as you let it grow, that it would send tendrils into your synapses and from there, use it’s electrical impulses to take over your bodies purpose-driven movements…. a point at which you couldn’t be trusted by the rest of us…..
The Republican Party, as long as it has this poisonous thread that for all intents and purposes, appears to have backing from the top, (Exhibit 1: Sarah Palin’s remarks slurring Obama) will be forced to bend their parity’s will to meet the actions of that segment.
Going under the scalpel, removing that hideous growth, putting them in formaldehyde, and storing them in the Nutter Museum in Philadelphia for future generations to see and ponder… is a process that painful as it may seem to be, will be one that the Republican party must undergo if it wishes to survive…
Right now, a Republican who is beholden to even listening to these bigots, cannot be trusted….
I hope that clarifies our shades of difference… ( that was a good rebuttal by the way…)
Now, I want to change the subject to discuss different media…. Yesterday, I had access only to the printed transcripts of the meeting… I published them above… Today, I was able to review the video of that town hall meeting for the first time…. There is a difference. After viewing the video’s, what yesterday, seemed like a party gone out of control, today appears like an overblown attempt by media matriarchs, to use a broad brush to paint something that really wasn’t there… There will always be kooks in a public meeting… Whether it is to argue over a crack in their sidewalk, or to incite racial violence, the kooks will be there…. It is after all, an open and public meeting… What is relevant is how that kook is taken by all the others in that room… Which reaction do we see? A “STFU kook and sit down”, or….”heil hitler”…. (I guess that would encompass the two extremes.) Most of us fit somewhere in the middle.
And here is the difference… from the printed version we get “BOOO’s” and are left to interpret it’s significance… Seeing a room of 200 people in the photo, I unconsciously interpreted that to mean 90% participation? As I look back on it, in truth, I don’t know, I wasn’t there….Now, having heard the video, it appears that perhaps 15 ring leaders started it and perhaps, 20 people followed along… However a considerable larger number applaud McCain when he spoke of running a campaign based on respect… And grabbing the mike from “freaky hair” was moment of character, one which did not carry through the medium of the printed media….
The point of one’s perspective ….. as Tommywonk wrote about two weeks ago, is dependent upon the media from which one gets their information.
And Mike, I suppose that metaphor applies to our local Republican establishment as well… What is needed from the other side, is someone with character enough to take away the mike when the discussion goes South.
