Today is School Board Elections…Polls are open 10-8…  If anyone is sponsored by Markell or Rodell or RTTT or WSFS, don’t vote for them.. If anyone is sponsored by DSEA, they are on the students side. They are safe.

So go out and vote like a goat… Be…  B-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-D

From Nancy at Delaware Way, we have info regarding the vote today.  The House committee overseeing this bill, cleared it by a 7-1 vote.

The Speaker of the House has offered a new amendment...  This allows for the Bond Bill Committee formerly known as the JOINT COMMITTEE ON CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT, to oversee the bill, and report back to both chambers with its recommendation.   Both chambers will then vote, and if the Governor approves, it gets signed into law.

Who is on the Bond Committee?  The following people:

Sen. Robert Venables (Chair)
Sen. Brian J. Bushweller
Sen. Bethany Hall-Long
Sen. David P.Sokola
Sen. Colin R. J. Bonini
Sen. Gerald W. Hocker

Rep.Quinn Johnson (Co-Chair)
Rep. Helene M. Keeley
Rep. Michael P. Mulrooney
Rep. Dennis E. Williams
Rep. Michael Ramone
Rep. David L. Wilson

Out of this list we have the following people who voted against the bill when it was in the Senate….

Sen. Robert Venables (Chair)

Sen. Brian J. Bushweller

Sen. Colin R. J. Bonini

Sen. Gerald W. Hocker

Known sponsors are….

Rep. Helene M. Keeley

Rep. Michael P. Mulrooney

Sen. Bethany Hall-Long

Sen. David P.Sokola

We have 4 for, and 4 against, and 4 still thinking.  If it goes along party lines, the vote will fall as a tie. 6 to 6.

Alan Levin has expressed concern that the bill not pass the General Assembly because doing so might jeopardize the deal.

The Schwartzkopf Amendment might cause just such a non-passage….

For this bill to pass, we must count on the House, where there are sufficient votes, to defeat the Schwartzkopf Amendment, and then pass the bill as approved by committee straight from the Senate.  It can then go to the governor’s desk,….. where…..

With High Republican Turnout I'm Sure to Be Wellfed Nov. 6th

They thought he was nuts.

Well, yes. Of course there is… Duh.

When most Afro-Americans were being held as slaves by their white masters and kept chained either by iron or psychological control, there was no possible way they could be violent to whites, unless those whites got careless, making it the white person’s fault through negligence if they got killed by one of there financial properties.

So yes, of course there is… End of story.

Not quite, … Should we go back to enslaving a large group of humans based on the amount of melanin in their skin, just to go back to the quite comfort of white on white violence? How about white on Mexican violence? Here is one rivaling Stalin/Hitlers killing off the Jews… How …. about…. white…. on …. American Indian…. violence.. That was cool stuff apparently … Colin Flattery grew up idolizing that on black and white TV…..

You’d expect a book like this from someone who once thought F Troop was real.

Many of the areas hit by the storm had also been hit by Irene. In New Jersey’s Hamilton Township, Tom Jacobsen also recalled heavy spring flooding and a particularly heavy winter before that.

“I’m starting to think we really ticked off Mother Nature somehow, because we’ve been getting spanked by her for about a year now,” he said while grabbing some coffee at a convenience store…..

OF COURSE YOU DID, DUMMY. YOU VOTED FOR REPUBLICANS!

There once was a dude named Bonini
Who unfortunately lacked much of a wienie.
Each time the Budget come out,
He’d do nothing but shout,
Bellowing opera like Mr. Pacini.

There once was a guy from downstate.
Who bragged of his education of late…
Till prying was done,
His degree was “in fun”.
Proving to Republicans, that lying’s a trait.

A Republican once gandered for power…
But was out-shown when next to a Flower.
His facts were a mess,
He couldn’t confess,
So he’d hide behind “The Witch”‘s robes and he’d cower.

There once was a man without merit.
Who ran as state Treasurer with no carrot.
He carried only a stick,
“Cuts” that made Delaware sick,
Repeating what he was told like a parrot.

Once State Legislature was terrible,
Until Democrats finally made it bearable.
But one Republican Grandstanded,
Forever becoming branded,
As the loon who made David Anderson’s suit wearable….

As Treasurer Chip Flowers is Amazing.
Whereas Bonini is somewhat debasing.
Holding out a fake degree,
And disappearing to pee,
Each time the Budget comes up “blazing”.

There was a Republican without backbone,
Who voted “no” against every budget known.
He couldn’t decide.
So he gave it a free ride,
Thereby “Bonini’ing” the state with a groan.

The question we face is thus..
You were too scared to stand up for us,
What make you think now,
We’ll have faith in just how
You’ll turn our triple AAA+ rating to rust….. ?

Supposedly more than any other legislator. … And he’s bragging about this?

This stems from the fact that every year when the state budget and bond bills come up, he grandstands and votes them down.. It’s something he’s been doing since 1994Fortunately, he is the lone vote voting against, so he is safe in not having his grandstanding intrude upon our finances..

That will not be the case if he is elected treasurer.. We will rue the day this man takes over our treasury.

I am not the first person to discuss this… It has been online for a while over here…

I’m sure that some people who think the government is just a big sump hole sucking down money, may actually cheer the headline shouting that “Bonini says no…”

But isn’t voting down a budget, knowing ti will get passed anyway, awfully irresponsible? Isn’t it a harmful stunt?

Instead of digging and coming up with solutions, Bonini votes no on the digging and negotiated consensus done by others… Like every other legislator, he hasn’t read the budget before he votes. He votes no, not on principal, but on the hope it earns brownie points come election time.

By voting no, what has Colin Bonini tried to stop?

Just this year, he tried to stop fund authorized for the North Wilmington Library! (Bond Bill pg 21)

He tried to stop all funding for Delaware’s Museums! (Bond Bill pg 21)

He tried to stop the building of a library in the City of Dover (Bond Bill pg 21)

He voted against any funding for all Delaware’s correctional facilities… (Bond Bill pg 26)

He voted against each and every beach preservation project in the state of Delaware… (Bond Bill pg 27)

He voted against improving water quality.. (page 27)

He even voted against putting limits on how much land the state could buy… (page 27)

He voted against all funding of Delaware Seashore and the Indian River Marina… (page 28)

He voted against responsible waterway management. (page 29)

He voted against all Clean Water funding. (page 29)

He voted against spending any money to fix Delaware’s roads… (page 30)

He voted against funding for red light safety enforcement…(page 36)

He voted against any funding to preserve Delaware’s farms. (page 41)

He even voted against funding the Delaware National Guard, while they were on active duty overseas!

Yes it may sound good to say “I never voted for a budget because I thought it had too much fat”.. But as you see above, it also has some rather essential services… If you don’t vote for them, what good are you … really?

Mr. Colin Bonini has the mistaken notion, that by turning his head away from the magazine stand in 7-11, he is eradicating pornography. He is doing no such thing… He is ignoring real problems and letting others do the work to deal with it.. then rushing in at the last minute saying… “wait, wait… that’s not good enough.. do it over…”

The people he works with in Delaware’s General Assembly just roll their eyes every June 30th, and look at him like he’s stupid.

It would be wise if Delaware’s voters did the same…..

We were round tabling this discussion when one person said… “What if the US just gave up after Pearl Harbor?”

Valid point.

Now I’m all for people speaking their mind. I’m all for supporting the majority. And like the founding fathers, I have implicit faith in the ability of the people to sort out our problems and separate wheat from the chaff… if not the first time, then definitely over time.

Most ordinary people I know have far more wisdom than any leader I’ve had the privilege to share conversation with. Therefore I believe in the sanctity of the people’s choice. If the people voted him in, he’s there for a reason.

But that’s only if the election was fair. If someone padded the ballot box, or switched vote totals, than obviously this premise wouldn’t apply for the very reason that the choice of the people was not the person who was actually representing them.

Mike was bushwhacked, sort of like the US was at Pearl Harbor or on 09/11…Reading his interview yesterday in the News Journal, one gets a sense that perhaps this was not a fair fight…. By election laws it was, and we all have to accept the primary results. However, if Mike doesn’t run as a write-in, he is putting himself in the same position as if the United States did nothing after Pearl Harbor or 9/11….

And with Mike, it is not about winning, although winning would be nice. It would be about whether good or evil triumphed. Polls say it’s Mike’s race to lose. He actually has enough money to send every voter a personal card telling them exactly how much he’s done for them, how that will soon change for the worse, and explain how to write in his name and send the evil perpetrators back to their cardboard boxes.

If Mike doesn’t do this…. exactly then, what is he saying to future generations of Americans? ? That we should just give up when hit from behind with a baseball bat? That it’s the American way to lay down and bend over? That being a man, is knowing when to run away and hide? That brutality and tastelessness are the new American Way? That perhaps Christine was right? Castle has no man pants on? That the wishes of Delawareans don’t matter; we’ll stop immediately and do what Californians tell us? That how we brush off defeat is a better mark of character, than coming back strong and punishing the evil that befell us?

And sentences keep coming one after another… the list keeps going on…

But if I were in Mike Castles shoes, and if it were me looking over the entire scene before me… I would have no choice but to say I’m in… Oh yes, I would wait till the last minute of September 30th to do so… and I would create a smoke cloud beforehand by pretending to roll over and let bygones be bygones… …. …. and from somewhere out of the fog, then overwhelmingly, I’d strike.

I wouldn’t hold back.. It’d be my last race, it would be the one I pulled all my stops for. Every person I’d ever helped would get a personal appeal from me. Unconditional Surrender would be our rallying cry, just like for the troops of WWII… Our goal would be not just to win, but destroy the O’Tea Party forever.

Ok, Hannity O’Tea Partiers: so you were secretly prepared and yes, you overran Poland, and yes, you then went on to incorporate the Low Countries, Denmark and Norway, and even surprised France pushing their ally Britain into the water… But this time, you went too far.. You’ve taken on the United States. You’ve pissed off someone five times your size. We will Normandize you, Elbetize you, Dresdenize you, give you a Kolnectomy, Rhineantipuovertize you, Remagenisque you, and even liposuctionize your Battle of the Bulge. We will Pattontize you, Bradleydice you, and Marshall you into a corner from where you can’t maneuver.. We will take average civilians and turn them into a fighting force the world has never seen…

We will do so for the honor of America.

What kind of an America? An America where truth wins out, where decency prevails, where honesty and hard work eventually win out over trickery, skulduggery, and political assassination. You wanted to play dirty? We’ll show you how it’s done… In doing so we will show the world that modernism prevails, that decent people still run America. that the “Boehner Bullshit” is just that. It’s time to show the world what we’ve known all along.. That in America, it’s the people who run politics..Not the Politics who run the people…..

I’d tell every Delawarean… Do yourself a favor… Turn off your TV’s.. You got a question? Call me or my staff directly! We’ll talk to you… try talking back to their commercials! Where will that get you?

That stuff they’re airing? That’s not Delaware talking, That’s California money talking… That’s rich bitch snitch drug money being laundried to throw a Senate seat into supporting their snatching up of all your money… You want to keep some of your money? Call me. Call my staff… That’s Delaware talking.

Do you want reason to take on ins’hannity?

Well, it’s on. Support me. You can’t let the devil win… “

Well anyway, if I were Castle, that’s exactly what I’d do. And I would do it selflessly, not to win, but to give Delawarean another alternative between a Democrat and our equivalent of the brown shirts of the Nazi Party.

Yes, if there is still good left in America, then Castle needs to run.
If the doesn’t, then the America that came back after Pearl Harbor……. is gone.

Here is Rick Carroll, Republican candidate for the 4th District, being set up in the puppet chair, having his strings pulled… Dare you to try not blinking before he does…

http://www.delawarefirst.org/government_and_politics/gop-weekly-message-september-17-2010/

The word “response” in his video title, is a misnomer. There is no mention of Markell, and barely any mention of the able Democratic leadership that brought open government finally to Legislative Hall. There is only one line about…”Democrats in Washington.”

So let’s get their logic. We are going to send Rick Carroll to Dover to fix what Obama has undone for the wealthiest 1% of Americans!

Here is the message.

America is overtaxed, over regulated, and undermined… hmm…

Over taxed?

This link is the chart that proves every Republican platform that says cutting taxes is what we need…. is a lie… Cutting taxes is not what we need… CUTTING TAXES KILLS ECONOMIES…

Republican response… Blah, Blah, Blah…

kavipsian economist responds with a question… (One that should be asked in every town meeting by the way) … if what you say is true, why is it that when implemented, like in the 1920′s, the Bush 1 years, and this past Republican administration, we get terrible Depressions and Recessions, and when taxes and regulations are increased, as they were under FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, and Clinton, we get richer, we grow, we have jobs with raises, and we even lower the National Debt and get a budget surplus? What you are saying goes against what history tells us? If it didn’t work 3 times, why will it finally work the fourth?

(Where’s Eileen when you really need her….)

Republicans: “blah, blah, blah..”

kavipsian Economist: “show me where it’s true…”

Republican: We can’t show you because there is no evidence that it works yet. That is exactly why we need to keep trying. All our funding comes from the top 1% of Americans and if we say what you’re implying, they will cut of all our funding.

kavipsian Economist: ” So, you are agreeing it isn’t true?”

Republican: I can’t answer that question because of financial obligations but you can…. Is there any historical proof that cutting taxes grows the economy?

kavipsian Economist: “No.”

Republican: “There you go, you just answered the question by yourself; now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go drum up some more contributions. This recession has cut into our money supply…”

So why when you give the wealthy more money, does the economy falter? Because you don’t control how they spend it. Which is preferable: investing in America and getting a 3% return, or investing overseas and getting a 17% return? That’s why giving the wealthy more money hurts America.

Now why does heavier taxing grow the economy? Because you are controlling how they spend it. Which is preferable. Work hard, and pay the Federal Government 40% of all you make, or… invest most of that back in your business, lower reported profit, and pay 40% on the little bit of income you report, if you report any at all… This is what happened from the end of WWII up to the Kennedy Tax cut. And happened again, immediately after Bill Clinton took office….

It works like this. To keep my money out of the IRS, I expand my business. I pay people with money I would normally pay the IRS so it really doesn’t cost me to do so… Those people spend, requiring more businesses to hire just to accommodate that extra spending,
which continues as a domino effect causing jobs to open up, which of course sends money to the Federal government. What Clinton was so masterful at, and didn’t happen on any previous Democrats watch, was as more people got back to work, he cut back on Federal Spending . After all, you really don’t need it to stimulate the economy when the private sector is roaring.

As more people work, more people spend, requiring more workers, resulting in more people spending, requiring even more workers, resulting in even more spending… requiring… And eventually, the debt gets paid down. Those receiving the cash, now need to invest it somewhere…. which causes more jobs, which causes more spending.

In sound byte from. Republicans suck money out of the economy; Democrats pump it back in….

Who benefits from Rick Carrolls spouted philosophy? Only those people who have so much money, they’d rather invest in the 3rd world than put it back into America.

It’s happened 3 times already. They’re fools if they think we’ll let them do it to us again…. The funny thing is, we all remember the great Clinton years. Let’s do what he did, expire the tax cuts, raise the rate to 40% for the top 1%, and watch them scurry to invest that money back into our economy.

And Delaware? Since the Democrats wiped out the local Republican party, Delaware spends less per it’s GSP (Gross State Product) than any other US State…. You can’t cut spending any more… We are the best, and that is solely because we have a Democrat for a Governor, a Democratic Senate, and a Democratic House.

If one looks at this chart, they find that the heavily Democratic states spend much less per GSP than the heavily Republican ones …

If the media would do their job, and ask Republicans why,… what they are proposing ruins this nation each time it is implemented, … there would be no Republican Party. It’s all based on a lie…

No?

Prove it… Your history bets you can’t.

Lol, I told you.

And now we have it: a very clear choice. Maybe I’m the only one who is tired of parceling beans, putting some in this pile, others in that, and then counting up the totals to see which has more… A fight between Mike Castle and Chris Coons would be just that…

Instead, I wanted a clear fight, one that doesn’t even have to go nasty-ad personal to make the news… IN FACT, THE PERSONAL IS SOOO BORING, compared to the energy of what this battle of ideas will generate.

We have: Abortion versus Choice
Low Taxes versus Large Debt
Religion versus Science
Family values versus Economic Growth
Slashing Services versus Helping Those Less Fortunate
Carbon Fuels versus Nonpolluting Ones
Mommy versus Dad.

Lucky us. We have a sexy Mom (oo-la-la) and sexy Dad (hubba hubba) fighting it out… Anyway…..

Here are my predictions. This election will be way, way too close to call. It will be so close that the green and blue Castle-lites will quickly forgive and eagerly join in with the O’Donnell Blues…

This election will be the most exciting one in most living Delawarean’s memories. It will involve multiple local visits by the next presidential elections biggest names.

This election will redefine political boundaries for the next twelve years… Not officially, but this one set’s up the next election coming up in two years.

Most important, it opens up the dialogue of ideas
. The official Republican Party is dead. That’s the party of platitudes, or platypussys, (which is it? I forgot. )

Real people put in a candidate, one not supported by the party, one even disparaged by the party, one horribly ridiculed vociferously by the party… and guess what? …..

The people said ” yeah, that may be so…. but she is still much better than anything you got!!!! ..”

That’s a pretty damning indictment.

Christine now has the valid claim to be the one being of the people, for the people and (to win an election) by the people. To go against that, no matter who the opponent, is a very scary force to reckon with. Although oblivious to it now, Coons is is in trouble, and had better get his good ideas out there right now while Christine is reeling from her victory over the storming of the Bastille….

Likewise, everyone official who dissed her, whether blogger, think tank, or otherwise, obviously has interests that counteract those held dear-to-heart by real people. They have been proven to speak with forked tongues.

The People have spoken, just like they did with Obama. Each might cringe to be associated with the other, but both were fresh candidates in their respective races. If one looks at the big picture stretching over two parties, one hears the People saying “the old is not working. Let’s do something different…. “

I’ve been calling for the death of the Republican Party, and so far, after each election after their peak in 2004, I have been correct; that party’s power has shrunk exponentially. However, Christine, has rejuvenated Conservatism in this state better than anything I could have done or said. For they( conservatives) are tired of being put down, stomped on, dismissed, pooh-poohed, cussed at, sexually intimidated, beaten up, suckered punched, laughed at, lip flipped, weasel wedged, wet Willied, bitch slapped, nipple tucked, and then be dismissed as inconsequential by a handful of men in Greenville with way too much money?

And now, conservatism has found a natural outlet to unleash all that energy pent up since the official Republican Party decided to cater to millionaires instead of Conservatives. Like a tiny wedge in a sand dam, all that pent up energy, will change the landscape these next few weeks ..

But will Conservatism work? Ahh, that is another question and will be one debated in another post.. Right now, I have to get back and celebrate with the lovely Ms. O’Donnell, her coming out party… :)
