Romney won the debate, unless you know arithmetic. The math simply did not get done on Romney’s plan. As it gets replayed over the next month, we will soon see the deficit in his numbers of his plans $7 Trillion in expenses, with no way yet of paying it off.
The other thing was that Obama flushed out Romney from every position he’s said up to this point. “I never said I’d give a $4 Trillion Dollar tax Cut.” ” I never said I’d cut discretionary spending in education.” “I never said the middle class would get an increase in taxes.”" I never said we’d have a tax cut.” As all those clips of when he actually did say those things, begin to flood all the media outlets tomorrow coupled with his clips from tonight, the deficit between what Romney says now, and what he said then, will start dragging him down pointing out his flip-flop skills.
Each time Obama pressed, instead of defending, Romney retreated. Most people would say that was a lost debate.
Bottom line: Do we have any clearer idea of how Romney will accomplish what he says? No. That was still hidden. Do we have a clear idea of what Obama will do? Not really, it is the same as what he said at the convention, so there was no change.
But, if you are the kind of person who rates debates on who was more energetic, Romney won, both on C Span and on radio, where the energy level differences in the voices, was very obvious.
