In a devastating blow to the campaigns of Republicans everywhere, the Catholic Church has shifted all its support to the Democratic Party.
The principal reason? Romney attacks and bad mouthing of those making less than $250 million a year….
In a report issued from Washington today, the Catholic Church said that is is disturbed by the demeaning campaign ad and conversation about poverty by the Romney campaign.
Anticipating Ryan’s nod as VP nominee, the Catholic Church castigated the both of them saying “at a time when millions are struggling financially, it is degrading to talk about the “dependency” of people hurting in this economy, as Gov. Romney did recently.”
“The budget proposed by Rep. Paul Ryan and supported by Gov. Romney”, it said, “balances the budget on the backs of the poor with cuts to Medicaid, Head Start, Pell Grants and other vital programs…”
The Catholic Church even went so far as to castigate Romney and Ryan….. asking them to spend time with the poor in Ryan’s home district, before making such blanket, demeaning, anti-religious, ungodly, and arrogant statements.
“Political leaders would not talk about the poor in demeaning ways or cut job training programs if they spent more time with the people they are affecting with their policies”
The Catholic Church is urging all practicing and non practicing Catholics to vote Democrats into each and every single office open this election cycle.
It is the only way to insure this never happens again…..
“We ask our political leaders to not sow hatred of the poor, but to speak with compassion.”

The “report” you cite is not from “the Catholic Church” as a whole, but is a press release from a single order of “Franciscan friars and sisters and lay Franciscans”. Furthermore, nowhere does the release state that the Franciscans, much less the Catholic Church, have “Drop[ped] Support For Romney & Ryan” or imply, as you do, that they ever supported the “Romney & Ryan”, or that they now “Shift All Support to [the] Democratic Party” or any other party or candidates.
Do you think the Franciscans want you misrepresenting their press release as an explicit endorsement of political candidates or parties, which would jeopardize the Franciscan’s tax-exempt status?

It appears not everyone agrees with your take on how the entire Catholic Church feels about Paul Ryan, the Tea Party, and Mitt Romney……..
There seems to be more of a consensus….. that all are in line with mine…

The church needs to quit using special weasel words lide INTRINSIC EVIL a phrase never used as a technical term in the gospels– to allow it to condemn one group those who believe in contraception( noting the continual growth in world population and the stress this will put on the living)
those who say that homosexuality is a part of human nature ( distributed by a bell curve) WHILE actually supporting the Rich in oppressing the poor which is condemned in the prophets and the gospels. The oppression of the poor by the rich is heavily addressed in the gospels and the prophets because it is a common problem in societies. The bishops want to control the government in our PLURALISTIC democracy and ignore the need of all Americans to have individual FREEDOM OF RELIGION while the grasp for the power to co-erce those whom they cannot convince

This is hilarious! I love your play with words to deceive uninformed Catholics – while they have never, EVER relegated themselves to a party – only given guidelines and helpful advice. If you heard from some “Catholics” that they were voting Democrat and that every other Catholic should, to generalize and say that the ENTIRETY of the Catholic CHURCH has proclaimed support for the Democrat party is bad journalism at it’s best! Way to go, you get my award for “Lousiest Research”!

Rebecca Wolfgang your commentary is about as far off of reality as it could be! Indeed the Jesuit catholic Church started the Socialist Democratic Party with it’s first president Andrew Jackson and been using the Socialist Democratic partry as it’s “dogs of war” attacking and even responsible for the death of 5 Republican Protestant Presidents from 1841-1923.including Abraham Lincoln..and one Supreme Court Justice…read history or drop your commentary….indeed your commentary does not have benef of any research or you would know better

Johnny I don’t think that side of history has ever been brought to light. One can’t blame Rebecca for not knowing about something that doesn’t exist.

I just saw this today. More Catholic voted for Obama then voted for Romney….. !!!
The polls shows that 50% of voters who identified themselves as Catholics voted for Obama, and 48% for Republican nominee Mitt Romney. A CNN poll did not distinguish between active and lapsed Catholics.
However, Protestant voters swung heavily toward Romney (the evangelical crowd) the CNN polls showed, with 57% choosing the Republican and only 42% voting to re-elect Obama. The initial reports on the CNN exit polls did not distinguish among the different Protestant denominations.
Of those Catholics….. The CNN exit polls showed a clear preference for Romney (59- 39%) among Catholics who attended church services weekly, and an even more pronounced tilt toward Obama (62-34%) among those Catholics who rarely attended services.
Off the top, it appears that a Catholics penchant for taking care of the poor, slightly outweighs age old edicts against proper forms of birth control…..
