A great economy.

Of course it's possible, if republicans are voted out of office.

Work definition: "Physical or mental effort or activity directed toward the production or accomplishment of something."

Not enough people are working, you say. That's true. Less people working, there is more financial burden on those who do work and of course there is financial burden on those who need to work. Then there are other categories, the rich who aren't burdened by work, the underpaid, those not of the workforce. But their is a way, that all citizens could become productive and accomplish the greatest task facing mankind.

Let's consider poor to middle Americans, that could be hired by some person or entity, or Americans who could become entrepreneurs, or government workers, or contract workers or special project day workers. They would enter the pool, at their particular level, to produce or accomplish what they can, as purchaser and consumer.

Yes, some corporations are making and keeping great profits. outsourcing, over rewarding their top people; not reinvesting in American jobs. Worse of all, not making available, the product that is most needed. When a government gets to the point where it cannot supply needed services, such as protection of it's people, infrastructure and even environmental protection, there will come a breakdown. The nation could quickly be bankrupt under such conditions, with the wealthy corporations and persons, who have succeeded because of our government - abandoning the country that has served them so well.

Kavips asks, who should be hiring. Industry, government and ordinary Americans, each in their own way. Industry should have an obligation to give back to the country that enables it. And even the non working citizen, would contribute, under the following plan.

Yes, there are very high profits being made. They are occurring because businesses just aren’t hiring; but, very high profits are also being made because in many cases, corporations aren't paying for the privilege of conducting business. What's the cost of protecting the oil industry? What are the environmental costs passed on to the public and government - by polluting industries? What are the costs of maintaining transport routes, infrastructure security for corporations? What are the cost of industries tying up our government? Consider, worse of all, the costs of delaying on climate change. What are the costs of melting mountain top glaciers, acidic oceans, escaping methane from melting permafrost, weather pattern changes, droughts, forest fires, ruined crops, livestock, seafood, recreation, dependent industry losses, heath costs, etc. Beyond measurement.

Prime example: Does the energy industry want to reduce their damages or even pay a CO2 tax, (preferable to the public,) to help reduce CO2 releasing and anthropogenic climate change? No. Do the polluting industries pay hundreds of millions to politicians so they can hold up government, to maintain 'business as usual' causing the public and the government to suffer environmental costs, as the corporations accumulate billions in profit? Yes.

Kavips says, "Profit is what is left over after everything has been paid off." Well, the government and the people are not being paid off for the damages greenhouse gases cause. Worse, the government and people will incur the costs instead. And worse still, CO2 damages last up to two hundred years in the atmosphere, as the industry releases the costs into the atmosphere, causing present and future generations to suffer the changes in the polar regions, oceans, vast permafrost areas, coastal areas, fresh water systems, wetlands, low lands, and the incalculable feedback damages to each altered eco system, as well as human and wildlife losses, around the world.

Here's the place to start the country's recovery - charging a rising price on each determined unit of greenhouse gas pollution (at the smoke stack, tail pipe) and giving the money to the public, to reduce their dependency, by purchasing conservation and clean energy alternatives.

Corporations see no need to hire? Well they will, when they see stream lined micro businesses, the people working and hiring - using the CO2 tax money for new windows, white roofs, a windmill, efficient transportation, etc.

Billions of jobs, chores, need to be done. Their is no shortage of work, but there is a dead, forced dependency system in place that rewards those who are destroying the environmental balance, while reaping false rewards.

Start by taxing polluting corporations, those robbing the future of every person on the planet. Put that money in the hands of the American people - they will spend it, the people will put millions of people to work, creating jobs and services for the most needed product in the world -clean energy solutions - that includes, energy conservation, retrofitting, '0' polluting homes/businesses, clean transportation, its infrastructure, new zero emission products and industries, the protection of natural resources, drinking water, farmlands, etc.

Simply distribute the CO2 tax money to the people via debit card. Dirty energy will cost more, therefore, people will seek alternatives. Polluters will seek clean energy to sell.

Remember, business as usual, will only cause things to become worse, setting off feedback systems - passing all tipping points. It's a dead end road. We don't need corporations creating more fossil fuel dependency. Time for the people, their government to realize, we need new third and fourth generation nuclear power plants which will be various sizes, safer, properly placed away from population centers, perhaps even burning spent fuel. We need educated next generations of scientists, nuclear engineers, energy engineers, trained energy technicians, etc - something else CO2 taxes could be spent on.

An effective government must realize, it needs to lead, on a planet with a population that now explodes by multi millions, as natural resources are being degraded at a rate that will soon, not support life as we've known it.

When republican politicians say, "we need jobs," who are they trying to fool? Are the talking to the corporations who aren't hiring? No. They're just trying to dredge up votes so they can continued dead end 'business as usual.'

The energy and fossil fuel industries spends hundreds of millions, to have republican politicians oppose clean energy every at every chance, causing untold billions of dollars in losses due to procrastination in addressing the CO2 greenhouse gas crisis.

Democrats know, there's untold work that needs to be done. "Work" that needs to - support survival. not end it. Work reducing CO2, not causing more of it. Start with the most important job - solving the dirty energy problem with the money coming from those who are free-releasing the problem. Have the money go to those who will spend for the most needed product - clean energy, reduced levels of atmospheric CO2.
