I wish I thought of this one, but this one came out of someone’s exit interview with the Christiana School District.
They recommended, at the beginning of the year, the Principal needs to get up in front of the entire student body, and state, that anyone acting up in front of a sub, will be severely punished. Acting up in front of substitutes will not be tolerated.
Overheard this year in a Christiana District High School: an administration official telling a student: “don’t worry ’bout it… they’re only here for a day. They don’t know what they are doing…..”
Bottom line: if you let them act up in front of a substitute, they will eventually act up in front of the teacher, then everyone else as each time passes, with impunity.
I was terrible with substitutes in my day… I think everyone is. But fear… would have kept me from being so.
Here’s how the kids tell me it should be phrased… “Ok, if anyone of you acts up in front of your substitute, I’m taking it personally. These teachers come here as MY guests. When they leave here cussing under their breath, swearing never to return, it embarrasses me. Obviously, I don’t like looking like a fool. This is my school they’re talking down about. You do something to make my friends not want to come here to student teach, I will find a way, to pay you back… I promise. No, I’m not being mean; I’m just telling you how I work, so if you do decide to act up in front of a substitute, you will be doing so, already knowing the severity of the consequence I will be bringing down upon you. … I’m not going to tolerate it.
This would go a long way to start taking back the halls of Delawares High Schools from the students who currently own them…..

Anyone else after Weiner, will be just too blaze…..
Even Google sub captions…. “Dicks encouraged……”
Let’s fact-check Romney’s video: bump in the road…
Here is the script of the screenplay taken from Romney’s website…..

Have millions lost their jobs under President Obama?

Charts Courtesy of Politics.Gather.Com
Boehner claims 2.2 million have lost jobs under Obama… According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, the figure for the cumulative layoff events during the Obama administration, is 53,834…. For the record during the same time frame in George W Bush’s tenure, that number is 48,210, so yes, there have been more layoff events …. But if one clicks on the appropriate chart…. ie If we look at the number of people unemployed, ONE CAN SEE OBAMA LOST FEWER JOBS THAN BUSH…5,258,114(Obama) to 5,384,746(republicans). So whereas Romney is correct in saying millions of jobs were lost under Obama, he is misleading, because even more “millions of jobs” were lost during the similar time frame of George W.Bush.
Next line: “Long Term Unemployment Is Now Worse Than The Great Depression”
Fact: Comparable Statistics for Labor, kept by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only go as far back as 1947… The Great Depression ranged from 1929 through to 1940… In fact, according to Karen Kosanovich, an economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the widely reported figure of 25 percent unemployment during the Great Depression was an after-the-fact figure calculated from state and local unemployment “surveys”. Some of those other sources, such as Lester V. Chandler’s 1970 book, “America’s Greatest Depression, 1929-1941,” cites a 1934 Massachusetts survey that nearly 62 percent of males and 54 percent of females had been unemployed for a year or more. That’s much higher than 45 percent being unemployed for six months or more. David M. Kennedy, author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Freedom From Fear: The American People in Depression and War,” cites similar figures: in 1933, 62 percent found themselves out of work for longer than a year; 44 percent longer than two years; 24 percent longer than three years; and 11 percent longer than four years. So even that should be taken with a grain of salt, though a comparison of that figure with the nine percent employment of today suggests the current economic situation is not anywhere as grim as during the Great Depression.
So although the Bureau of Labor Statistics does not have comparable data to prove this statement false, this statement has been discredited enough so that CBS who is cited as the source of this misinformation has taken down the assertion and issued a correction. Romney instead has run full tilt with the misinformation.
Next Unemployment Hit 9.1%; Obama called it a bump in the road.
From the peak of a 10.1% in October 09, unemployment per month has decreased accordingly: 9.9, 9.9,
(2010) 9.7, 9.7, 9.7, 9.8, 9.6, 9.5, 9.5, 9.6, 9.6, 9.7, 9.8, 9.4, (2011) 9.0, 8.9, 8.8, 9.0, 9.1… so you see, the tiny spike is a “bump in the road along the path to recovery”.. a pretty apt description…
And if you look hard enough a the number of people who were employed in Massachusetts, during Mitt Romney term (1/03- 1/07), you will see he too, had a little bump in the road…..

“My suggestion is that until that $5 million tax burden on the poor is taken off the table, I am hard pressed to support a tax cut of $7 million on those higher earners“,
John Kowalko, State Representative 24th District
And in 34 words, we see the folly of tax cuts on the wealthy. What good does $80 dollars per $100,000 assessed, do to the economy? But the Medicare cuts, which are simply a percentage of the total costs a person must payout, mean additional charges to individuals that range from $800 to $50,000?
You tell me! Which one affects the local economy more… Creating additional charges which take away money that otherwise would be spent on groceries or necessities, or an unneeded $80 dollars that gets spent towards buying a piece paper: one that declares you the owner of a small piece of a bar of gold, somewhere supposedly stored in a someone-who-you-don’t-know’s vault?
Tax cuts will never, never, never stimulate the economy. The only thing that stimulates the economy is to put more money in the hand of people who buy “things”. Pay people more. If corporate America won’t agree do that, then we need a government who will make them….
Remember the past decade? The fight about unions? This, is why America needs strong unions. Get rid of unions, we become nothing.
When unions were strong, the middle class was strong. When unions became weak, the middle class couldn’t get a word in edgewise.
Delaware is overdue for a non work day, to show corporate America, that Delaware will help them succeed, but only to the point that it doesn’t kill us in the process…..

If our news organizations were truly newsworthy…. when it came to politics, they would be giving out facts, and let us, the public form our own opinion based on those facts.
They don’t. They dispense opinions. Pure entertainment. Ironically, if you want real news, you can find it quicker on John Stewart, Rachel Maddow, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brian, Jimmy Kimmel, or among comedians, quicker than it appears on MSNBC, CNN, Fox, CBS, NBC, or ABC…
This chart I discovered today was an eye opener… It needs to be front and center of every public discussion in regards to our deficit crises and the raising of the national debt limit.. I’m curious if our Tea Party friends were even aware that consecutively, Democrats reduced the national debt relative to GDP starting with Roosevelt, by 24.4%, 21.7%, 11.0% 5.2%,8.3%,8.3%,3.0%, and 3.2%… Of course every American by now, knows that the Clintons, decreased the deficit by 9.0% during their second term……..
But… did you know… that when Republicans came into office, the National Debt INCREASED… starting with the “Deficit Hawk” himself, Ronald Reagan, +11.3%. +9.3%, +15.0%, +7.1%, ending with “W” Bushes last term, at +20%?
This chart is an eyeopener.. Democrats consistently over the past 80 years, grow both the economy and reduce the portion of our national debt relative to GDP… Republicans consistently over the past 30 years, cause the economy to implode, and our national debt percentage to soar relative to what our national incomes tells us what we can afford…
Obviously, our friends in the tea party elected the wrong party in 2010 to control our deficit.

This chart is a glaring confirmation of how Republican policies destroy the overall wealth of Americans, and how Democratic policies re-enhance it.
It is also a glimpse into why we are incurring the current national deficit. Obama is doing something good for the economy.
In crises right now, are multitudes of foreign countries, who hold parts of our national debt. What will happen to their money if Republicans cannot come to terms that we need tax increases as well as cutting spending to get ourselves out of the position we currently find ourselves….
Did you lose your job? Imagine if you did, and you had equity in your house to get loans to get you buy… You’d borrow that money, fully anticipating your paying it back when employment opportunities came your way.. After all, that is how business in America has operated over the past 225 years….
So, America has invested $3.4 trillion over these past two years under Obama and the Democrats reign, to return $8 trillion back to our(your’s, mine, and our children’s) pockets! That is a 2.25% turnaround on our investment, in just two years. That is incredible.
Three cheers to Obama.
Boo to all republicans.
John Boehner’s Costume For August 2nd: Default Day(source Yahoo.news)
it’s the crises no one talks about… There is nothing on Delaware Liberal, nothing on Delaware Way….
Should the US default on some of it obligations in order to create the political environment necessary to achieve the “extreme cuts” proposed by the Republican leadership?
Should we simply postpone the paying of our bills?
Republicans now are saying the default is a good thing… They are planning to undergo a default, no matter what concessions are thrown their way…. They want the crash.
I’ll explain why.
One of the principals who is touting the official hard-line of default, is the former financial manager of George Soros. Widely credited for Soros’ successful shorting of the British Pound in 1992, Stanley Druckenmiller came out in favor of default…
Hmm. Let’s see: he gained his money shorting the British Pound; and now in favor of having the Republicans default on the US Debt… Coincidence? Hmmm, I wonder if he’s betting on the dollar to increase in value this upcoming year? Not?….
So we have the Republicans being spooned a rosy scenario, which will create billions for those holding the spoon…
Often the debate in Congress is compared to a game of chicken… But you don’t have a fair game of “chicken” when one of the parties, wants the crash… Having just recently re-seen the antics of the Joker on “The Dark Knight”, turns out, he is the perfect personification of the Republican Party.
Sick.
So what happens if we default? Our credit rating drops, meaning when we borrow money, we have to pay more for the privilege when we repay it. Like you, buying a house at 3% interest, or 10% interest. Imagine the shock waves if the default goes forward.
Currently, the United States debt is considered the worlds safest. China owns $1 trillion. At 3%, when paying them back, we will pay $30 billion in interest per year. At 6%, we pay back $60 billion. So even if one take the current yearly deficit,… if the nation defaults, just on this year alone, we incur a $30 billion charge we didn’t have to pay.
So we will need to cut an additional $30 billion from all the cuts we are currently making to enable us to raise our debt ceiling so we won’t default.
The only person who could reasonably argue that defaulting would be a good outcome for the United States, … is someone who stood to make a pretty penny if the US were to completely collapse….
It’s called “selling the US short”… and guaranteed, everyone clamoring and supporting the Republican efforts to default on our obligations, has done just that…….
So, I had the opportunity to sit down with a group of youth, a sample spread from across all types of public and private education…. and said, “Boy is it hot! What did you all do today?”
The answers were somewhat similar, ranging from “our teacher said it was too hot to learn so we watched videos” to….. “we watched videos” to “that’s what we did too.”
Culled from two school districts, and 3 private schools, no one on this mandatory snow replacement day, learned a damn thing….
(The videos were Hollywood-created R rated entertainment; not instructional..)
Which brings up this point…
Why are we paying for this?
What’s the point of spending diesel fuel for thousands of buses, high priced electricity to cover antiqued air conditioners, full staff including cafeteria workers… so our kids can sit at desks and watch videos?
2nd consideration: even if you taught calculus… when it’s over 76 degrees in the classroom, how much do you think would be retained by students more concerned with the social consequences centered around whether their deodorant is adequately working?
Labor Day to Memorial Day. Anything else…. is a waste of money, a waste of time, a waste of energy…..
From Daily Kos,
One has to laugh… You can create fiction from Vietnam about something that never existed… but you cry like a little baby when someone tells the truth that you’ve been trying to hide from the American public.. ….
This is why we need Republicans… Democrats are just to smart to eat their own feet in full view of the public… :0
