Bluewater Wind: $105.90 per MWh guaranteed for twenty five years.
Delmarva Power: $110.00 per MWh not even guaranteed for three years.

You failed to also mention that there is a 2% annual increase with Blue Water Wind. Curious, is your provider Delmarva Power? Are you one of the small percentage that will be paying for Blue Water Wind?

We are Delaware Electric Co-op customers & I understand that they have no desire to purchase Bluewater Wind power. What a shame.
Bill & I just ordered 50 blocks of green power @ and extra $10 a month from the co-op. I understand that it comes from landfills, but not local ones.
What would happen if all the DE Co-op customers demanded that the co-op buy BWW power?

Actually they do.
If Bluewater goes in, they will buy in because of economics. It will be cheaper than any other sources.
When Delmarva’s rates jumped 59%, they were still contracted out a much lower rate. As that contract expired, they too must pay the higher rates as does Delmarva for its power…..
Bluewater Wind is cheaper and will be for twenty five years, than Delmarva is now….
How much more than 10.9 cents per kilowatt hour are they charging you now?
(I figured asking you is faster than looking it up……)

Bonnie, you seem perplexed by the facts.
There is a 2% annual increase factor to account for inflation. IT IS CALLED THE DELMARVA FACTOR, because Delmarva, back when it manufactured electricity, had the very same clause installed for themselves
It wouldn’t be fair for Delmarva to have had it, and Bluewater Wind to have not, now would it?
Whether you are a Delmarva, municipal, or Coop customer, you have been paying that 2% for as long as you can remember….We no longer mention it because it washes out in comparison. You will pay that 2% no matter who supplies electricity….
And the Delmarva SOS customers will be paying far less for their electricity than they could ever without Bluewater Wind…..The idea that they will pay more is a joke….If there was ever such a thing as truth in advertising, Delmarva, instead of saying “pay more: should be saying “save more” with off-shore wind.
