I know a young single mom in Pennsylvania. She supports Hillary. I am glad, for up until this moment in history, she had never reached out to challenge herself to make a difference. Her 2 year old daughter is a big fan too. “Hillary. High Five”
She is also a die hard Flyers fan.
And it is funny how that connection fits. Hillary the brawler, on the ice, fists pounding, coming out with broken noses and a million dollar contract.
And Obama, the ivy league type. Brilliant, clean, and articulate. Brave, noble, inspiring, but just not the type to punch someone in the face for kicks.
But both would move this nation in the direction to the right, …as in the right path we need to be on. Either one could realign America from the Cheney-istic values imposed on us during our 8 year period of incarceration. Either one could give us shelter long enough to heal from the scars of a very bad marriage.
Republicans, however, will have to forebear that animosity one usually reserves for an ex-spouse, especially one who took everything when they left…..Hard as it is to do, they should be pitied, forgiven, and welcomed into the Democratic party.
LiberalGeek says the enemy is John McCain. That is partly true. The true enemy are those Republicans NOT supporting John McCain. You know, those ones who believe the deficit does not matter (as long as they get theirs), that global warming does not exist, that America benefits from shipping all our jobs overseas, that all environmental rules and regulations need to be abolished, that if the United States wants something it should take it, and our brave men and women should willing die, just so our elite can get their hands on whatever asset they want. Those guys are who we need to squash.
The best way to accomplish that, is to destroy any credibility the Republican party has, had, or will have in our future.
Republicans can play a big part in their party’s resurrection. And so can the rest of us. If Republicans vociferously and publicly denounce their party’s policy over the last 8 years, we as voters should give them our approval. Money follows power. If we elect a “good Republican” ( there are many, quiet now, but lurking in the shadows), we can marginalize the hold those idiots once had over our nation’s policy.
Most of those “wrong” ideas came out of Republican think tanks. I heard that one of their initiation rites was to drink bong water. (It made them less sensitive to environmental concerns.) Irregardless, those ideas were detrimental to mainstream Americans.
It is time those of us from the mainstream who usually do not concern ourselves with the inner workings of bureaucracy, realign those making our decisions to follow our ways of thinking.
The easiest way would be to vote for someone who will take us in the opposite direction, away from Cheney/Bush irregardless of party.
John McCain will not do that. It is obvious that even he knows that he cannot possibly win and is just goofing off, having fun, enjoying his moment, sort of like a grandfather does when he teases his grandchildren……..(Bomb, bomb, Iran)
So we have narrowed our nation’s choice down to two, and only half (of the entire electorate) gets to choose one of them. The one of those two who is behind, with less support, is more susceptible to the call of “Big money”. And like I said, money follows power. If the moneyed interests lose this election, and if we have a lopsided number of elected citizen supported candidates, we will have two years to implement the changes necessary to return American prosperity back to where it was in 2000.
The “Big Money” has aligned itself with Hillary. The “People” have begun to be inspired by Obama. That is why Pennsylvania will be a tremendous battleground over the next week. It will be “Money” versus “People” : the classic political contest that has been ongoing ever since the dawn of civilization.
Here is an interesting insight: Below are three lists of those people who have endorsed the candidates. Often one can tell the character of a person by the friends they keep.
Looking over them I see broad trends. Those people with vision and courage who I have admired for many years, are almost to a person, aligned with Obama.
Those who consider themselves the party faithful, believe in strong organization, in falling in line behind one leader, some of which have built up tremendous organizations around themselves (Ed Randell), are lined up behind Hillary.
Those who have argued for change, who have called for fiscal restraint, and been ignored, who believe having a safe environment is beneficial to us all, and yet still call themselves a Republican, support McCain. (Schwarzenegger).
This evidence should be enough to push most independents still trying to make up their mind, into supporting Obama. For why would all those who have blazed trails before……whose names are already inscribed in our nation’s history, support someone they think is second best? They won’t. They truly believe that this Obama candidate is the best person to repair our damaged country.
We need no more evidence. His speech last week proved it.
