From WDEL, ( (North) Delaware’s Most Reliable News Source) we have the story of what happened to the Eminent Domain Bill yesterday.
A lot of a story is in the telling. I enjoy the nuances in Carl Kanefsky’s telling of this one.
Best quote, and why I am now writing:
” The bill was tabled when officials from Wilmington and other municipalities said they didn’t have enough time to study it, but Williams says he started three years ago when DelDOT closed A Street.”
Don’t get distracted by the fine print.
If our elected officials had the balls that either you or I had, they would have voted this bill out of committee, and then the City of Wilmington would have no choice but to study it in a timely fashion.
Again, somebody wants it buried.
And that is what is why nothing good gets done in Dover.

I may be politically naïve, but why didn’t they discuss the bill rather than immediately bury, er, I mean table it? With the “standing room only” crowd, I am sure there were people there to testify.
Isn’t that the purpose of a committee hearing?

Not in Dover. It is not a “Public Body”.

It happened two years ago. It is happening again. They are telling the good people of the State that they are taking care of the ED abuse problem and then going all passive to let the solutions die. Is everything that happens in Dover that is not done behind closed doors just a dog and pony show?

I am interested in hearing more about Dennis Williams claim that he was working on emin. domain policy for DE three years ago.
IIRC, I was the one to call into the Potter (does he really own Positive Images) and mention to John Flaherty, Ed Osbourne and the gang (Fulcher, Williams, Potter and possibly Marianne McG.) that this could only be handled in the state house.
McBride had started legis action three years ago and nothing has turned up with Williams’ name attached until this year.
