No one can take the place of “Around the Horn.” It is a Delaware classic. However, in case it fails to materialize, I offer this humble compilation of links, during what may possibly be the week that historians look back upon, to see how and why, either Delaware’s proposal for a Wind Farm went forward, or died a political death, much to the chagrin of 94% of Delaware’s population.

The king, leading the fight to the Black Gates of Delmarva…..was Tommywonk. Between his hustling from radio station to radio station, he has still had time to refocus Delaware’s laser vision upon the Copeland-McDowell Alliance, intent on secretly derailing the Bluewater Wind proposal. Fortunately he broke the text of the “letter” as well as Kowalko’s response. He also published Copeland’s harsh admonition to Larson, the Controller General, to report back to Copeland’s cabal before he votes. Since these exposures, we have seen some public back-pedaling attempted by Harris McDowell. Just seconds before being cut off by ‘Robin Bryson’s traffic report’ on Allan Loudell, one could hear Harris blurt out: “I am really disappointed by Delmarva!”

We are fortunate Tommywonk lives and works for us in Delaware.

The Colossus of Conservatism (Rhody) has become infatuated with Al Gore’s winning of the Nobel Peace Prize. Fortunately, much differently from a year ago, there are none of the “global warming is a false crises” pleas. Instead we see this from a conservative blogger: “As I’ve mentioned numerous times, I concur there IS global warming; however,…..”

“The times they are a changing…….” Out of the weekly lineup, I would recommend this link, which is a clear, thoughtful analysis as to why the stalemate in Congress over the Iraq War exists and will continue until 2009……..

The second big news of the week was the passing of Delaware’s most serious Yankee fan, Senator Vaughn, and in the same breath, speculation on who will take over her seat.

DWA remembers Vaughn in this way. Nancy remembers Vaughn in this way. FSP remembers Vaughn in this way. DelLiberal remembers Vaughn in this way. Now to the upcoming race. With just 18 days of campaigning left, we see DelawareLib calling to interview Joanne Christian, and Dave calling to interview Bruce Ennis. As of today, no one knows much about either. I think Delaware is ready, in fact more than ready, for Jason330 and Dave Burris to join together for a combined interview with both candidates present, on either radio or TV, . It is time for the rest of Delaware to finally realize exactly what their own state’s bloggers have going on.

Dana likewise has gone from radio station to radio station. His insight is calling for the Working Families Party to make a break from the Democratic Party’s candidate and support Joanne Christian in the 24th’s special election. This, if it happens, would put her name on the ballot 3 times more than Ennis, since the Independent Party has already given their endorsement to her. This race could give Daniello a quick headache. But before hopes get too high, one must remember that Vaughn smacked down the last opponent without campaigning. In eighteen days we shall see whether the real power lay with Vaughn, or buried itself deep with in the Democratic Party.

Nancy covers a lot of ground. She leads with one of our local heroes being mentioned on “Meet the Press ” by Bill Cosby of all people…… She covers the lawsuit against Mattel, being handled in Delaware’s Chancery Court. Then, there is this unsettling news for anyone still living in New Castle County. Developers have infiltrated the highest levels of County Government. I’m shocked, shocked.

No one is shocked that Kilroy stood up for the kids of Red Clay. He exposes the list of “those mistakes” to anyone who will listen. I love this line: The state government needs an enema. He supports Levin, by the way.

Merit Bound Alley brings us amazing pictures of the West Coast: Seattle, Washington to be exact. For a real cool special effect, drop down to the fourth picture, the one of the “Soylent Green ” building, and move your vertical cursor up and down. Pretty cool, huh?

Mike’s Musings has photos from the other Washington. His photos show one how to relax within the beltway, hitherto believed to be a task impossible. Linked in another post he offers this bit of deep seated wisdom…………”Never stand in front of a foghorn. “

Pencader Days gets my vote for the best philosophical post of the week. Whenever Duffy tells about his regular life, he steps up into very good reading that is hard to ignore. This time he caused me to question what would happen to mankind, were we to suffer at the hands of an EMP device. Implicit in his post is this question: why, with the loss of our computers, do our neurons and synapses also stop working? Is it because as we grew our brains, we formed them around the templates laid out by our computer, and whenever a massive failure threatens those connections, our brains spin their wheels?

The Soapbox focuses on the “Replacement for Mike Castle Race.” Ironically, this topic dominates the forums on a daily basis. This weekend was so weird, however, that Matt was the only one carrying the torch.

In what is probably the best description of this week, both the Colossus and Tommywonk take time out to cover comics (not standups….., the kind you read in a paper book or newspaper). Perhaps those nuggets describe this week to a tee. Our real world, the one we live in, has become so bizarre, weird, and strange, that things actually make more sense when one reads the comics……….
